MrsAvocet · 01/07/2020 03:10

Hi, can I join in?
I've been doing SW since January, so completed 26 weeks and am just over 2/3 of the way to my target. I'd like to lose about another stone ideally. I've found it very good so far. I've not had any weeks where I have lost loads, but I've not had any gains at all and only a couple of weeks where I've maintained. My average weight loss is just over a pound a week and the most I've lost is 2.5lb in a week. I think that is a healthy and sustainable weight loss and I haven't found sticking to the plan too difficult. I am fairly confident I will be able to keep the weight off. The main changes I have made are stopping unhealthy snacks (though I did have a chocolate biscuit today- previously I would have eaten half the packet) and making almost all meals from scratch instead of using jars etc. I had no idea how much unnecessary sugar there is in processed foods. My family like the new diet and most of the SW recipes have gone down well. My biggest problem is getting my healthy As in as I don't eat much dairy produce. I usually manage 1 portion but didn't have any today. I very rarely have them both. I take a calcium and vit D supplement every day to be on the safe side though.
Today ( well yesterday now) I had:
Breakfast - small slice of wholemeal toast (0.5 of healthy B), some strawberries and a cup of green tea.
Lunch - the other small slice of wholemeal toast with baked beans
- a pot of light and free raspberry Skyr (0.5 syn)
- a can of diet coke
Evening meal - piece of smoked mackerel (1.5 syns)
- jersey royal new potatoes boiled
- mixed salad and tomatoes
- a banana
Snacks - an orange
- 1 chocolate digestive biscuit (4 syns)
- no added sugar cordial/ water to drink and another cup of green tea
Total 6 syns.
I'm on week 5 of a gold award for activities and I walked for 40 minutes today.
Its really interesting to read other people's menus and I expect I will be stealing some of your ideas. I find lunches the hardest meal to provide - we're in a bit of a rut there so keen for new ideas.

autumnredhead · 01/07/2020 07:31

Good morning and welcome @MrsAvocet. It's so interesting to read your your story, you've done so well!

I know what you mean about getting into a rut. I've found some decent recipes here rosieandtherecipes.com/.

So I'm back in my 300ml for my precious coffees. I'm trying them with sweetener today to save my syns!

B - scramble eggs and 1 x 400g wholmeal. 0.5 syns for lurpack light. I tried making it without the lurpack on my toast this week - it wasn't great haha!

Not sure about lunch and dinner yet.

Happy wed all!

JingleAndTonic · 01/07/2020 08:53

Thanks for the kind words everyone.
I want to lose 3 stone and have lost just over 2 so far. My weight has been a bit of an issue since my last pregnancy 15 years ago to be honest, but I really piled the pounds on after being injured in a car crash a few years ago which led to physical and mental health issues. Then that became a bit of a viscious cycle as the heavier I got the worse I felt. But this year I have decided to break the cycle and tackle my weight, which has helped the other stuff too. I am very short, so my weight loss so far has dropped my BMI from 31 to 24 and I feel so much better!
Its the first formal diet plan I've ever followed and I was a bit sceptical at first but its definitely working for me. Good luck to everyone!

Blondeshavemorefun · 01/07/2020 13:39

Wow bmi 24. That’s in the normal range

OP posts:
MrsAvocet · 01/07/2020 13:58

Yes, first time I have been a "healthy" weight for 15 years. I'm pretty pleased. Unfortunately I have a tiny frame so even at this weight I can still grab handfuls of fat, so I am not there yet, but its a big improvement. I know I will never get back to the way I looked in my youth, but I revkin I can drop another dress size with a bit of perseverance. The tricky bit might be maintaining it when i've got to my target weight but I think I've identified where it is likely to go wrong and hopefully can avoid the pitfalls.

autumnredhead · 01/07/2020 18:54

JingleAndTonic · 02/07/2020 08:25

morning! had a NSV today when I put on a pair of jeans which were painfully tight a few months ago and are now bordering on too big, so pleased as have been feeling really fat all week after gaining last week and keep on pinching a few chocolate buttons every time i go past the fridge, am not expecting a loss tomorrow! but that's ok cause i've realised that doesn't put me back to where i was when i started, and was delighted with this weight when i got to it a few weeks ago!

L - ham and cheese toastie (HEA and HEB, 1/2 syn mayo) and might throw some veg in the soup maker or be lazy and have a tin of the WW tomato soup which is 1 syn

T - egg fried rice, salt and pepper SW chips and some mayflower curry sauce (3.5 syns)

S - some fruit although the selection is slim, food shop tomorrow so fresh things are a bit hard to come by in this house today Grin

Hartleyhare1206 · 02/07/2020 09:14

Hi everyone,

B - coffee and a banana

D - tomato, bacon and mushroom pasta with cheese (HEA)

The rest of the day is unknown. Am going to a friends house (well, garden!) for lunch. I have no clue what she is planning. I really want it to be something healthy and SW friendly but what are the chances of that happening? Suspect it’s going to involve all the things it shouldn’t which is lovely but also frustrating at the same time if that makes sense?
Stupidly weighed myself this morning (sunday is my usual day) and am 1/2 lb up despite sticking to plan all week and walking loads every day. I feel lardy and uncomfortable but period has finished so don’t know why.
Feeling a bit fed up! Really don’t want the opportunity to binge on chips and chocolate hobnobs handed to me on a plate (literally!) by my friend today, but know I’ll struggle to resist if she does.

Oh well. Will report back later as to how disastrous it was!! 😂😁

JingleAndTonic · 02/07/2020 09:43

@Hartleyhare1206 try not to worry too much, last week i weighed myself two days early and had gained 7lbs but by weigh day it was only a 3lb gain! and one meal out of 21 won't mess everything up, hope you have a nice time WineCake

Hartleyhare1206 · 02/07/2020 10:39

Thanks @JingleAndTonic. Hope you have a lovely day xxx

Blondeshavemorefun · 02/07/2020 12:05

Hi all. Haven't been posting but have definitely been lurking here. Well done to all those who have had losses. I have reached target now (or at least the weight I set myself). I could probably drop another 7lb but I'm not sure it's manageable long term. I'll keep following here for support but good luck to everyone on their SW journey.

Blondeshavemorefun · 02/07/2020 15:16

Well done @supersalmon1 for getting to target

OP posts:
JingleAndTonic · 02/07/2020 16:09

definiely slow and steady wins the race @Blondeshavemorefun, i think it's more sustainable to maintain that way!

well done @supersalmon1 on reaching your target!!

autumnredhead · 02/07/2020 19:33

Olives - 2 syns
Dressing 3 syns

total 14.5 syns

MrsAvocet · 02/07/2020 21:26

B - wholemeal toast(healthy B)
L - a sliver of pizza (4.5) with salad. That was hard as I love pizza and could happily have eaten the whole thing, not 1/8th.
D - oven baked salmon with mixed veg and lemon & coriander couscous (1)
- canned pineapple with natural sykr (1.5)
Snacks - a banana and a peach.
Exercise - an hour's walk. Pretty pleased with that as its the furthest I've walked since an operation I had earlier in the year.
Failed on the healthy A front again, though I did have the skyr and there was a bit of cheese on the pizza, plus I've taken my calcium supplements. Otherwise quite a good day.
Best of luck to those weighing tomorrow.

Blondeshavemorefun · 02/07/2020 22:42

@MrsAvocet make your pizza using a wrap

Mine was yummy the other day and going to have pizza and chips tomorow for tea

OP posts:
JingleAndTonic · 03/07/2020 06:55

L - crisp sandwich (6 syns and HEB)

T - cajun beef goulash (2x HEA)

S - fruit

tomorrow i'm going to have a pizza from the freezer for tea as my treat and then it's no more popping to the fridge for the odd chocolate button!! 🤦🏽‍♀️
