A brand new thread for 2016.....:)

For old and new members alike....please join in and post food plans, meal ideas, how you use syns, weight losses and gains, how you feel.

I started exactly a year ago on 4 January 2015.
I weighed 14st 3lbs and was a size 16. Bloated and uncomfortable, I was mortified when I saw the scales.
In week 1, I lost 9lbs which has motivated me ever since.
I currently weigh 11st 3.5lbs and just missed my 3 stone certificate at Xmas. Put on 2lbs last week and not really expecting a loss this week but I want to get to 11 stone and then re set my target to 10 stone 7lbs.

I have gone down to a comfortable size 12 and even wore a size 10 Fat Face dress yesterday.

So, let's do this.

I feel quite excited. SW has definitely changed my life......:)

Well I somehow managed to lose the weight I put on over Christmas so am absolutely over the moon! Grin

ThornyBird · 05/01/2016 10:28

Morning Smile

Please can I join you all in here? I originally did SW 4 years ago, lost 2 stone, hit target, maintained for a while but then couldn't make classes and put the 2 stone back on over 2 years Sad

Anyhow, I started again in September and had lost 1 stone before Christmas but put 6.5lb back in at weigh in last week Shock. I did have a lovely Christmas though and suspect booze was the biggest culprit Wine

Kids are back to school today, dh back to work yesterday so I'm on it! Weigh in is Weds morning (so tomorrow). All the crap is gone from the house bar 1/3 Christmas Cake and 1 box of unopened chocolates which I can ignore as long as they are unopened. Menu is planned, shopping list is written and shortly I'll be walking into town to get some of it.

LaurieFairyCake · 05/01/2016 10:31

backinschool - thanks so muchSmile, yes it's those ones - 2 of your 5 a day according to the tin. They're nice just on rice without making the chilli too.

Pandospants · 05/01/2016 11:30

Hello can I join please? Joined slimming world April 2014 after dc1 was born. I was my heaviest at 16st 8 but lost 2.5 stone before I fell pregnant with dc2 in March 2015.

I carried on doing Sw throughout my pregnancy and had my first post baby weigh in last night. I put on less than during my pregnancy and lost 19lb last night. Just got 1st 5lb before I'm back at my pre pregnancy weight, and then I've got another couple of stone to target.

Got a friends wedding abroad this summer so I'm determined to lose it this time. Am bf this time as well so hoping that might help. If anyone has suggestions for quick and easy meals that can be eaten one handed I'd be very grateful!!

KittyOShea · 05/01/2016 11:43

Congrats to all the losers!

And welcome all the newbies. So I stuck to my plan yesterday and then had 2 slices of toasted plain bread and real butter Hmm think I know I'm gaining this week and sabotaging myself. Need to stick to today's plan which is
B- porridge, fruit, yoghurt, cinnamon
L- butternut squash and red pepper soup, orange, Apple, nectarine
D- leftover prawn and crab linguine

Syns will be 2 sugar and 6 hi fi and that's it!!!

Solina · 05/01/2016 12:44

Busy morning after my weighing! Had no time for breakfast today at home (missed my toast :( )

B - 2 carrots and some grapes
L - homemade soup with carrots and sweet potato. Its so yummy! Better than shop bought soups and syn free.
D - mince, onion, mash and boiled veg. Might make some kind of gravy for the mince so that will be some of todays syns.

Supper will be my hxb of toast with butter (4syns) and cucumber! (If Im still hungry)

Hxa is milk today in my hot drinks.

Wibblewobble100 · 05/01/2016 13:26

Great job to all the losers! Lots of lovely ideas- can't wait to try the cauli lasagne!
Think I may do a few SP days next week.... I struggle with no bananas grapes or yoghurt though. Think my so day would be
B ham and tomato omelette
L home made carrot and lentil soup with a slice of toast and perhaps cheese triangles Hex A/b
D cottage pie with carrot and swede mash
Second slice of toast as a snack plus fruit. Milk for drinks willed be syns
Sounds doable!

WineAndIntrigue · 05/01/2016 13:34

Afternoon everyone!

I'm off to Iceland this evening to pick up a couple of bits - was wondering if anyone's tried the SW burgers? I have tried the pork sausages and they are okay - not as good as the real, fat-filled thing from the butchers but nice as an ingredient in a stew or pasta bake or similar. Haven't tried anything else so recommendations appreciated!

Food diary for yesterday:
B - Muller light and blueberries
L - Jacket potato, baked beans, tomato, cucumber
D - Chicken breast (used a Maggi seasoning sheet - 1.5syns), sweet potato fries, mushrooms, spinach, baked beans.
Snacks - apple

And for today:
B - Forgot to bring anything.
L - Jacket potato, baked beans, HexA cheese, tomato, cucumber
D - (Will be) some kind of burger (SW or otherwise), mushrooms, wholemeal roll and sweet potato fries
Snacks - apple

All good so far! Just need to start dragging myself back to the gym, now...

emwithme · 05/01/2016 13:43

Haven't tried the burgers. Love the meatballs cold though (but not hot) - I cook them for half an hour rather than the suggested 20 minutes in the oven and then chill them in the fridge.

Stars12 · 05/01/2016 14:12

Hello!
So pleased to have found a SW thread. I joined last April after having my second child and managed to lose 2.5 stone going to group. Unfortunately lost my way towards end of year and a stone has crept back on :-(
So back to it tomorrow after finishing all the Christmas food! However won't be able to attend group now as the local ones are on the 2 nights that I work! Typical! So will be following this thread for top tips and maybe a little support!

Buttwing · 05/01/2016 14:19

Hi all, welcome to all the newbies and congrats to all the losersSmile

The slimming world burgers are really nice. I've had them with chilli on top or with bacon and a fried egg and the were great.

B-banana and a Hifi

L-chicken and edamame bean salad

D-pasta with tomato, bacon and chilli.

Weigh in for me tomorrow would really like to have lost at least half of the 5 lb I put on over Xmas

maygirl · 05/01/2016 14:22

I've only tried the SW sausages and they were ok. Been eating more of the Heck chicken ones though as don't often get to Iceland.
Some great losses on here this week already!Star
Hungry day again!
B heb porridge, Apple, sweet freedom syrup 0.5syn half heA milk
L WW love fibre white and wholemeal wrap heb2, (SP day ) with half tin Heinz fajita beanz 0.5 syn, rocket and tomatoes, 12g cheese half heA,
Snack- ham wrapped in lettuce with cheese triangle (1.5syn)

Dinner will be Sea bass with veg , satsumas and a curly wurly for 6 syns. Been running and have a dance class tonight
Need to get more speed fruit in, only seem to have apples and citrus and the rest is all tropical fruit the DC like.

Leeeeesa · 05/01/2016 14:34

Newbie here, heard amazing things about SW and plan on joining class on Sat....nervous but its the change I need....

Currently in a tight 22 feeling awful! 2 Weddings this year so motivation is high!

BasinHaircut · 05/01/2016 14:52

Hello all! Im loving these ideas. must try the cauliflower white sauce but i dont really like cauliflower so would have to be careful not to over-cheese it to compensate. How much cheese would you use calzone for say a whole cauliflower?

Today ive had:
B - porridge made with skimmed milk
S - a pear
L - leftover beef kheema, handful of rice and cucumber, tomato and onion salad
S - banana
D - will be the smoked fish fiorentine thingy from the SW budget recipe book, with lots of spinach.

fraggle84 · 05/01/2016 15:25

Yes that's right if it one A & B a day then anything over that is syns

So fruit & fibre = B no syns

Fruit & Fibre then slice toast = B & syns for bread

y0rkier0se · 05/01/2016 15:56

Wine, I love the SW burgers! I actually carried on eating them after coming off SW because they were so tasty - not fatty like normal burgers, though because you cook them from frozen you get this brown gunk on top of them when they cook (similar to when you cook quorn burgers) but it wipes off. I didn't like the Thai chicken burgers though.

Today hasn't been a good day for me. Had low fat quorn sausage, 5 syns of mini potato waffles and spaghetti hoops for breakfast/brunch Blush
Snacked on a bag of walkers French fries (4 syns) and an apple.
But we're moving house soon so clearing out the freezer and cupboards, so using up some asda meatballs for tea - 8.5 syns, with free pasta and half a jar of dolmio sauce 5 syns and hex A cheese.
so I'll be finishing on 22.5 syns. I will keep under 5 syns tomorrow and hope it balances out but I can't bring myself to throw away food we have in the freezer!
Congratulations on the losses above, 7 pounds is fantastic!!

emwithme · 05/01/2016 17:03

Today's food:

Brunch: Bacon (unsmoked...do not like as much as smoked, but that's what the supermarket substituted and it was all I had), scrambled eggs, baked beans, tomato, mushrooms. Tassimo cappuccino (2.5 syns)
Pre-shopping snack: Melon, kiwi, strawberry
Post-shopping smackerel: Cheese (HEA), pickled onions, beetroot.
Dinner: Bolognaise sauce on a jacket potato. Prob 2 syns for butter.

Late night snack: Hi fi bars (HEB)

May throw in a bag of hula hoops (6 syns) if I need a crunch at any point.

calzone · 05/01/2016 17:12

For the cheese in the cauliflower sauce, I tend to think how many meals it would do and then use a full HEA serving of cheese per person.....

Some fabulous losses so far......am expecting a gain this week but not too worried.....needed to get back on plan on Monday or I would have carried on eating.

B.....fruit & yoghurt
L.....salmon infusion (2) salad, Ff yogurt, pineapple
D.....chicken noodle stir fry, pear

Snacks.....chicken mini fillets, HEB was Ryvita fruit crunch x2, sweetened quark, blueberries

Am cooking parsnip soup for tomorrow's lunch.

Howlongtillbedtime · 05/01/2016 17:18

Hi all , so far so good here but I am struggling a bit with lunches . breakfast and dinner is fine to sort out but I normally have soup or a sandwich and that seems high in syns . grateful for any ideas .

For breakfast I had boiled eggs and small slice of bread and lunch I made roasted veg with chilli spray and had some salad and thin ham with it . was nice but a faff when I don't really have the time .
Dinner is sausage casserole with baby pots cooked in the oven with spray oil .
I have stuck to fruit for snacks so far but I don't think that will be sustainable long term so I need to have a think about that as well .

I am drinking loads of water which is a good thing .

Sorry for the waffling but I am trying to get it straight in my head .

calzone · 05/01/2016 17:35

Howlong......could you have fruit and yoghurt for breakfast and have hb eggs and ham and bread for lunch?

Make a huge pan of soup for lunches and add rice or ham.....make more for dinner and have leftovers.....

OP posts:
OrianaBanana · 05/01/2016 17:44

For lunch you could have homemade soup, or Iceland SW soup for free. You could also try a pasta, rice or couscous salad, or a free mugshot maybe? Shop bought sushi is nice too for a change and low in syns usually.

Or save your HExB and have a sandwich Smile

Today

B - 2 x hifi light (HExB), satsuma
L - lentil and speed veg soup, plum, (oil 2 syns)
D - SW sausages, mash (HExA), green beans and broccoli, gravy (1.5), Muller bliss (4.5)
S - apple, grapes, banana, cadburys snack (5)

13 syns and I'll try and stay there today. Hmm

My home scales tell me I've lost 4.5 lbs but I'll believe that when I see it at weigh in tomorrow.

Trottersindependenttraders · 05/01/2016 17:48

Is virtually fat free creme fraiche free? I made a version of coronation chicken at lunch time with creme fraiche, medium curry powder, chopped apple and chopped peppers all mixed with chicken breast (left over from Sunday roast). I had this with a jacket potato and salad and it tasted surprisingly good! I quite surprised myself.

knowler · 05/01/2016 17:49

Weigh in today and I lost 3lbs! So my 1.5 gain over Xmas has gone along with another 1.5. Really pleased and determined to lose at least 1.5 this week to get to my first stone loss.
Tried mug shots today for first time (ate 2!!) and they were fine for a snack or light lunch. Don't want to become reliant on them tho as they taste a bit artificial :)

OrianaBanana · 05/01/2016 17:54

Well done knowler!

I think the creme fraiche will have syns if only a small amount I'm afraid - check the website or app.

I've just decided I'll make some SW chips (I love them!) to eat with a blob of ketchup (1) during silent witness tonight. Yum!

emwithme · 05/01/2016 17:59

Yeo Valley Organic Creme Fraiche (1 level tbsp) 1/2 syn
Weightwatchers Creme Fraiche (1 level tbsp) 1/2 syn
"Average" Creme Fraiche, half fat (1 level tbsp) 1 syn
"Average" Creme Fraiche, half fat (100 ml) 8 1/2 syns

I have succumbed to the lure of hula hoops, because DH is late getting home from work and it was either that or eat a kitten.
