A brand new thread for 2016.....:)

For old and new members alike....please join in and post food plans, meal ideas, how you use syns, weight losses and gains, how you feel.

I started exactly a year ago on 4 January 2015.
I weighed 14st 3lbs and was a size 16. Bloated and uncomfortable, I was mortified when I saw the scales.
In week 1, I lost 9lbs which has motivated me ever since.
I currently weigh 11st 3.5lbs and just missed my 3 stone certificate at Xmas. Put on 2lbs last week and not really expecting a loss this week but I want to get to 11 stone and then re set my target to 10 stone 7lbs.

I have gone down to a comfortable size 12 and even wore a size 10 Fat Face dress yesterday.

So, let's do this.

I feel quite excited. SW has definitely changed my life......:)

Emily your pizza looked yum!

I use Sainsburys be good to yourself Cumberland sausages they are nice they don't go that nice golden brown but I'm guessing that's because they are low fat. They are 1 syn each.

B- banana

L- ham and poached eggs

D-roast chicken, salad, chips and caponata. (Was so good!)

calzone · 15/01/2016 20:18

Basin.....Google SW Diet Coke chicken for the recipe. :)

I use linda MC vegetarian sausages.

Thanks Emily.

I eat breakfast at my desk usually so porridge in the microwave is pretty much as 'cooked' as I can do.

Will definitely be doing cooked breakfasts at weekends though so I can have some cheese! I could also use my syns I know but that feels naughty!

BasinHaircut · 15/01/2016 20:23

mutley Cumberland low fat sausages from Tesco. Pretty sure they are 1 syn each too. They are pretty nice

OrianaBanana · 15/01/2016 20:33

Basin...I saw a recipe somewhere for ham and egg muffins...worth a google I reckon! Think you can either eat them cold or microwave them to reheat...

And thanks Buttwing! Mmmm caponata...think I need to make a big batch, thanks for the idea! Grin

Heyheyheygoodbye · 15/01/2016 21:17

B - banana and satsuma. Tea milk 0.5 syns.
L - babybels hexa, Pops 4 syns, pineapple and berry medley
D - KFauxC with sweet potato fries and green beans. A syn or so of ketchup. Raspberries with a Muller and 3.5 syns of mini meringues.

calzone · 15/01/2016 21:21

You may look like that Oriana, young lady.......((glares)) (( :) ))

Just remembered that the Venison sausages from Tesco are awesome and only 1 syn each.

b: Toast and nutella with pear (4)
l: Brocolli and stilton soup, small w/m roll
d: Crostini. Pizza. WIne.

So not counting syns today, as it will be too many, but had my favorite pizza tonight for the first time in a year, and so very happy and content and full. (contented sigh)

Buttwing · 15/01/2016 22:13

Emily it's one of my favourite things to eat! I put it with everything, I've made a huge batch but I don't think it will make it to the freezer!

annatha · 15/01/2016 22:18

I've just made overnight oats for the first time- just chucked some oats and a free strawberry yogurt in a bowl and stirred it through. Can't go too badly wrong right?

B- weeabix and banana
L- ham and veg fried rice, Muller light (0.5)
D- SW cottage pie, cauliflower 'rice' (I'm not convinced)
Snacks- toffee yoghurt (0.5), tea

2nd day of couch to 5k done too!

First weigh in tomorrow, feeling really nervous as I feel like I've never stopped eating and only really got into the swing of 1/3 speed towards the end of the week.

tabulahrasa · 15/01/2016 22:21

Breakfast, pancakes (B choice)
2 coffees with milk (A choice)

No real lunch as I'm not working today and so got up late, then had breakfast late.

Dinner was sort of chana Dahl (I don't follow a recipe, so I just kind of throw stuff in) rice and speed veg.

Snacks, I've had an apple, a lemon Greek muller light (0.5 syns) cherries, skips (4 syns) and a lemon meringue hifi bar (3 syns).

I was going to have a meringue nest with raspberries (2.5 syns) but I'm upstairs now hiding from the cheesecake my DP brought back from the shop.

BirdingWidow · 16/01/2016 06:53

Oriana, I am very amused to meet another with a geeky OH! I am a bit geeky too though not so much about birds

Yesterday was okay though I maxed out my syns.

B- Alpen light, banana and pot of mango (must eat more speed fruit and less mango)

L- leftover chorizo and squash chilli -5 syns but best lunch all week

S- venti latte - oops! Hexa and about 6 syns

D- spagbol and hifi light (making hex b with breajfast)

I toffifee 2 syns

Will be a bit better today as I prefer to have more syns left for the evening. Also need more speed food in there.

I can't go to my next 2 weigh ins because of work and am actually away overseas for a week from next Saturday. That's going to be really difficult - hotel food, no kitchen, horrible conference centre lunch and alcohol No idea how I am going to limit the damage but will try to have a good week before I go.

I have bought some nice work clothes in the sales that are too small for me. I would never normally buy aspirational sizes but I really know I am going to do it this time. I also couldn't bear to buy things that fit now, knowing that I wouldn't be able to wear them for long. I haven't found it too hard to stick to and am inspired by my sisters who have lost over 5 st each and look fantastic. It WILL be done!

oneowlgirl · 16/01/2016 08:13

Can you go somewhere else to weigh at a different time / day of the week? I often weigh at random classes depending on where I am with work in any given week.

Hotels are hard, but if you're determined then you'll stay on track. Cooked breakfast of scrambled eggs, beans, mushroom, tomatoes & bacon aren't too bad at all (count a coupe of syns for the oils) as long as you avoid the sausages, toast with butter & ensure to cut all fat off the bacon. They usually have a good selection of fruit also. For lunch / dinner, ask for sauces on the side, have jacket potatoes rather than chips, salad without dressing, cut fat off meat & go for tomato based pasta dishes. It won't be syn free but you can definitely minimise the damage (& avoid desserts & alcohol).

Good luck!

My week one weigh in = -4lbs
Had a big breakfast to celebrate. Can I ask a question please, doing it online and the website I find very hard to get info from and find what I want!!
I've had eggs , bacon , beans and 2 HE slices of bread. Am I right in thinking if I've had the HE with a meal I don't need to put one third speed food on, because I didn't do.

CiderwithBuda · 16/01/2016 09:22

Good morning. Can I join in (again) please? Waves to calzone. I was on thread before last one but fell off. Didn't exactly fall off wagon completely and kept weight +/- 2lbs up to Xmas. Put on 2.5 over Xmas. And 6 since then! Blush. So I am now 15 st 7 which is 7lbs over where I got to in November. Rejoined yesterday.

Goal 1 is to lose that 7lbs.
Goal 2 is to get down to 14 st and start Couch to 5K. I tried it a few years ago and really enjoyed it but my knees didn't. I'm afraid of buggering them up again so have 14 st in my head as a reasonable weight to get to before I try again. I now have orthopaedic inserts for my trainers and have a treadmill so can do and am less likely to do any damage.

In the meantime I am doing circuit classes twice a week and a thing called Tonacise which is exercise machines. Also have a cross trainer so doing 20 mins on that twice a week. Will build up from that.

Have food planned for the week with recipes from the current magazine. And just had two poached eggs on one slice of whole meal toast from a 400g loaf with beans. Will have other slice from Hex B with soup for lunch.

My downfall is wine. Love my wine. When I'm in the zone I switch to low alcohol white wine with lots of soda. But in this weather I prefer red wine. But will tell DH not to ask what I want and just give me the sensible option!

oneowlgirl · 16/01/2016 09:36

Welcome!

How do you poach eggs as I can never get that right??

wowser3 · 16/01/2016 09:42

Hi cider. My downfall is wine too! Love it. I was on about 3 or 4 bottles a week. Far too much , bordering on alcoholic I reckon and absolutely no good for the figure. I did a dry November , then in December drank loads with it being xmas time. I was aiming for a dry January but slipped up last Saturday. So far 14 drink free days this month.

DamedifYouDo · 16/01/2016 09:52

Weigh in day for me (online member) and I've lost 1kg that makes 3kg in two weeks which I'm very happy with and it hasn't felt difficult! I've got a very long way to go, about 50 Kg if fact, but I'm trying to think of this as a long term eating plan rather than a diet. I've messed about with diets for years and always given up so this time I'm changing my thinking and trying to take a longer view and be realistic, I always want the quick fix, I'm trying to teach myself that it's better to be a tortoise, slow and steady wins the race.

I'm batch cooking today after sorting out my freezer yesterday! Lots of meat to use up so I'm making faggots, meatloaf and some curry. All s/w friendly and favourite family meals.

Shizzy · 16/01/2016 10:07

Oooh, can I join you? I'm back at SW for my 3rd time. 1st time was in the 90s when I was at uni and I didn't last long with the old red & green days. I rejoined Sept 2014 and went from 11st 2.5lbs to 9st 11lbs just before Christmas 2014. Then I never went back and the weight slowly crept back on. I rejoined (again) between Christmas & New Year just gone weighing in at 11st 8lbs (at 5'5" - my heaviest non pregnancy weight ever). Lost 8lbs my 1st week & 1.5lbs last week. I've 4 more weigh ins until I get married so I'm hoping to lose another 8lbs between now and then. Then I'm aiming for 9st as my target healthy weight. Good red wine & cheese are my downfall Grin.

BasinHaircut · 16/01/2016 10:19

oneowlgirl I just boil a pan of water with a little salt and vinegar in it. When boiling crack egg into it, cook for a minute or so. I don't swirl the water.

Trick is to use fresh eggs. The fresher they are the better they will hold their shape.

Mmmmm I love poached eggs. I'm waiting for DH to get back from the gym to have brunch and I think they just found their way onto the menu!

Can I ask if someone would mind posting the latest version of the HEXB list on here please? I'm doing it from an old book and am pretty sure it's not up to date

BendydickCuminsnatch · 16/01/2016 10:22

Blondie that image is ace :)

mangofizz · 16/01/2016 11:21

I dont eat huge portions, the 3rd of the plate being speed food is supposed to help you limit the other 2/3. I think part of the pull of slimming world is that freedom to think you can have as much as you want which in turn helps you regulate yourself more naturally because you dont feel restricted.

Im another pound down so 5lbs total (I weigh every day) and still finding things easy! We are out tonight though so that will do some damage. After tonight I wont be going out again for ages so not going to bother holding back, i'll just take it on the chin!

oneowlgirl · 16/01/2016 12:18

Thanks Basin
