A brand new thread for 2016.....:)

For old and new members alike....please join in and post food plans, meal ideas, how you use syns, weight losses and gains, how you feel.

I started exactly a year ago on 4 January 2015.
I weighed 14st 3lbs and was a size 16. Bloated and uncomfortable, I was mortified when I saw the scales.
In week 1, I lost 9lbs which has motivated me ever since.
I currently weigh 11st 3.5lbs and just missed my 3 stone certificate at Xmas. Put on 2lbs last week and not really expecting a loss this week but I want to get to 11 stone and then re set my target to 10 stone 7lbs.

I have gone down to a comfortable size 12 and even wore a size 10 Fat Face dress yesterday.

So, let's do this.

I feel quite excited. SW has definitely changed my life......:)

wibblewobble, I've had soup with noodles in a few times this week, really filling and don't miss bread to dip in. I like the Linda mcC veg sausages + heck chicken ones
Pastrami is nice for a change from ham.
Natural yogurt with berries or arla yogurt or arla protein-not as sweet tasting as mullers, which I prefer
How about following a week from sw magazine?
Well done today's losers Star

BirdingWidow · 13/01/2016 23:16

Hello, may I join?

I have been doing SW since last June. Got to my 3 st award on xmas eve but still trying to get back to that (ahem). 3 lbs to go, hoping to be halfway there st weigh in tomorrow. then just the other 3 stone to go

EmilyK that looks perfectly fine to me! Was it you that made the pastichio? Looked lovely, I'd love the recipe.

I made this tonight, was lovely.

www.waitrose.com/home/recipes/recipe_directory/c/chorizo__bean__pepper_and_butternut_squash_chilli.html

Had to syn the chorizo but for about 5 syns you get a lot of flavour so well worth it (and I cooked onions with the chorizo to avoid adding the oil and omitted the sugar). Also just used one tin of toms as I don't like them too undiluted.

Lots of good ideas on this thread - I'll be trying the cauliflower white sauce at the weekend!

annatha · 13/01/2016 23:42

B- bacon, mushrooms, eggs, beans
L- toast (hex b) with cheese triangles (hex a), chicken, apples and toffee yogurt
D- SW beef ragu with pasta and salad
S- rice crispy buns and a delicious whole milk latte for another hex a. As a barista it pains me to have skinny lattes so I'm very happy to be allowed the perfect amount of milk for my proper latte. I'd like to breastfeed forever for all these hex a extras!

I also did some exercise for the first time in years- the first day of couch to 5k. It was hard but I'm very proud of myself and felt fantastic afterwards. I've been meaning to do it for the past three days but finding half an hour when both babies are asleep at the same time makes it difficult.

Schmangled · 13/01/2016 23:43

Hi again everyone! First weigh in last night -5lb loss. Phew Smile x

annatha · 13/01/2016 23:45

*rereading my last post I want to clarify that dh has a treadmill in the spare room, I didn't leave my kids home alone so I could go for a jog Grin

Schmangled · 13/01/2016 23:46

Hey annatha, love the menu - how come you have to HeA's? I've just been at SW a week and not allowed on extra easy. I struggle sometimes as I always use my A choice on milk for tea and I miss cheese so bad! x

Schmangled · 13/01/2016 23:48

*two

annatha · 14/01/2016 00:13

schmangled because I'm breastfeeding I get 5 hex's (soon to be 6 when ds turns 8 weeks next week) so either 4 x hex a and 1 x hex b or 3 x hex a and 2 x hex b. I've not managed to use them all in a day yet as I don't want to eat for the sake of eating but handy to know they're there. I'll really struggle with the single hex a when I eventually stop as I love cheese too. Do you have a lot of milk in your tea or just a bit? I've seen some people use cheese as hex a and count 0.5 syns for every splash of milk in a cuppa, might work for you? Or you could always have half a portion of milk and half a portion of cheese.

Pisghetti · 14/01/2016 08:15

Annatha I started SW when my daughter was about 5 months old and found myself really conflicted about weaning a month later as I knew it would reduce my HeA allowance! Actually in the earlier days of weaning she wasn't eating very much so still drank as much breastmilk so it isn't a sudden cut off. Now she eats six times a day and only has breastmilk morning and night. I pump just after lunch and feed lots on the weekend but I am having to only have the one extra healthy extra now sob

Pisghetti · 14/01/2016 08:18

Today is:
B - egg muffins with quorn ham, onion, cherry tomatoes and mushrooms
L - 2 x hifi (HeB), Apple, banana
D - SW style cheese and potato pie with broccoli and peas HeA

BasinHaircut · 14/01/2016 08:44

So last night I was bad, but not so bad. Went for dinner with friends and after being really good all day, decided that as there wasn't really anything on the menu (bar a salad that I'd have had to have dry and I'd had that for lunch) that would have stayed within syns I just went for it and had halloumi for starter and ribs and sweet potato fries for my main course.

I ate all of the starter but could only manage half of the not particularly large portion of ribs and the fries came in a pretentious little tub and there really wasn't many of them. Only sparkling water to drink.

So overall I'm happy with that as I feel satisfied that I had something tasty so will be more likely to stay on plan the rest of the week, but I didn't over eat at all.

I'm wondering whether my appetite could have already adjusted as typically I would have been able to eat the lot and probably have a couple of drinks and possibly a pudding. But I really couldn't eat any more and it really wasn't a big portion.

giraffesarefab · 14/01/2016 09:58

Well today was my first weigh in and despite my stupid wobble because I weighed myself midweek and it showed 1lb loss, I've lost 5.5lbs - really pleased!

Note to self - STAY OFF THE BLOODY SCALES AT HOME! Blush

KathyBeale · 14/01/2016 10:02

I lost 3lb this week, which is good. With me it's definitely all about being organised; meal planning and thinking ahead are my saviours.

BendydickCuminsnatch · 14/01/2016 10:17

Sorry, can I clarify speed days? I can't find anything about it online (online member).

Do you just eat speed foods?
Do you get healthy extras?
Do you get any syns?
Should I do every day, alternate days, one day a week?

It's annoying, sometimes there is an instant messaging option online for advice, sometimes not!

emmaluvseeyore · 14/01/2016 10:28

Akire I've been doing SW since last April and I've never weighed myself mid-week. I think it's only going to lead to disappointment. If you've lost more mid-week than you do at the end of the week, then you're going to be disappointed. I've you've not lost much/anything mid-week, then you're going to be disappointed.

Just leave the scales alone!

Wibblewobble100 · 14/01/2016 10:42

Thanks for the suggestions folks - love pastrami... Hadn't thought about it great idea, also love the noodle soup idea.

Bendy re speed days, you eat speed and protein foods, 2 HexB and your Hex A, you still have your syns. I miss bananas and yoghurts hen I try this🙁. I think they say no more than a week at a time but not sure on that. I think every second day sounds good but personally haven't managed to do that yet as the rest of my family are carb fiends.

wowser3 · 14/01/2016 10:54

Well done giraffe & Kathy! Miso nervous for my weigh in on Saturday. I'm so used to restricting what I eat and believing that carbs are evil. So when I have eaten a meal
this week with potatoes or pasta , I can't help feeling guilty , like it's been ingrained in me that I can't lose weight while eating carbs! I am worried about what the scales will say because I've tried so hard.

EmilyK83 · 14/01/2016 11:11

Well done losers!!

Birding - yep, it was me who made the pastitsio - recipe here!

BendydickCuminsnatch · 14/01/2016 11:37

Ok fab, thanks a lot Wibble!

mangofizz · 14/01/2016 11:48

Week 1 loss of 4lbs. Pretty pleased with that although I was obviously hoping for 3 stone. Im finding it so easy though, although will reserve judgement on how effective it is for me in weeks 2 and 3 when it gets real!

blondiep14 · 14/01/2016 12:12

Well done everyone, you're seeing the new year in, in style

giraffesarefab · 14/01/2016 12:30

Me too Mango Grin

BasinHaircut · 14/01/2016 12:40

That pastitso sound AMAZING! That's going on the meal an for next week!

I'm loving all of these new recipes. Makes it so much easier to do a diet when you are excited about eating the food

annatha · 14/01/2016 12:43

pisghetti I'll certainly be in no rush to wean and lose out on extra cheese!

EmilyK83 · 14/01/2016 13:02

Definitely recommend making the pastitsio - tasted naughty but wasn't!

Today's plan...

B - none. Oops. Too busy with work :(

L - random combination of a Kingsmill thin (HexB), scrambled egg, SW sausages, and veg. Plus some halloumi as my HexA, as I'm slightly addicted... See pic.

D - curry night! We have leftover homemade syn-free pilau from last night, so I'm going to microwave my SW curry meal and we'll probably make something else too...tempted by the pakora recipe on the SW website!
