A brand new thread for 2016.....:)

For old and new members alike....please join in and post food plans, meal ideas, how you use syns, weight losses and gains, how you feel.

I started exactly a year ago on 4 January 2015.
I weighed 14st 3lbs and was a size 16. Bloated and uncomfortable, I was mortified when I saw the scales.
In week 1, I lost 9lbs which has motivated me ever since.
I currently weigh 11st 3.5lbs and just missed my 3 stone certificate at Xmas. Put on 2lbs last week and not really expecting a loss this week but I want to get to 11 stone and then re set my target to 10 stone 7lbs.

I have gone down to a comfortable size 12 and even wore a size 10 Fat Face dress yesterday.

So, let's do this.

I feel quite excited. SW has definitely changed my life......:)

Hello all👋

Some great losses this week - well done.
I did my first weigh in today and lost 5 lbs in the first week so I'm really pleased. Haven't felt hungry which is good news so I haven't been tempted to stray though I did go over my Syns yesterday.

This week I'm going to try to increase my exercise as it can be a bit hit and miss. Will try to walk every day for 30 minutes. Need to walk more on a regular basis in addition to going to the gym sporadically.

emwithme · 11/01/2016 19:45

Another SP day.

Brunch: Bacon, eggs, beans, mushrooms. Tassimo cappuccino (2.5 syns)
Snack: Iceland meatballs, cheese (HEA), apple, satsumas. Hifi bars (HEB)
Dinner: Tuna steak, kale, cauliflower, broccoli, carrots. Something fruity to follow, not sure what (probably a couple more satsumas)
Snack: Hifi bars (HEB)

I am about to come on, so I'm a bit concerned about what the scales will read.

FannyFanakapan · 11/01/2016 19:53

B: bacon, eggs, beans, potato
l: Roast chicken, SW roast potatoes, veg, gravy (1)

Everyone is doing so well!! ThanksStar

I fear tomorrow I might let the side down. Three birthdays since last week if you count Elvis', and I do Grin! Food not been disastrous but wine, well, I've had a few let's say.

Ah well. I'll face the music, next week looks temptation free - fingers crossed

mutley1 · 11/01/2016 20:09

I would like to join too. I have at least a stone to loose. I did SW a couple of years ago and it was quite successful but of course slowly it has crept back on. I really need either support or a big stick I'm not quite sure which!!

EmilyK83 · 11/01/2016 20:09

Someone asked for pictures...here's a picture! Leftover pastitsio from last night and salad for tonight's dinner - HexA allowance is the Parmesan in the pasta bake :) Soooooo good! Don't think I'll eat all of it...which is probably a good thing - weigh in tomorrow!

Welcome again to everyone and well done to the losers!!

WHITE SAUCE RECIPE......CAN BE USED FOR lasagne, macaroni cheese etc

Boil a cauliflower or frozen cauliflower in vegetable stock. Drain the cauliflower and keep the stock. Blitz with a handblender adding the stock as you go. You end up with a jug of white sauce which you can add cheese and nutmeg to.

It sounds odd but is amazing and so much nicer than eggs and yoghurt.

Hello everyone,

Just wanted to say I've started my trying to eat healthily tonight (not quite sure I'm SW ready, but needing support- can't brave the scales yet!!) .
I've had a jacket potato with dry-fried chicken with chilli and garlic on top with salad with 1tsb of butter and 1tsb of extra light mayo followed by a yoghurt and a teensy can of Coke (150ml I think) for dinner.
Have packed myself lots of options for tomorrow (I'm on an early shift)
So overnight oats for breakfast. (Oats, milk, berries and yoghurt in a kilner jar overnight). For lunch: mackerel salad with five baby potatoes, a boiled egg, 2 tbsp of hummus, two crackerbread, an avocado, a yoghurt, a naked bar, a Heinz cups soup, fruit in jelly, a packet of choc gems. Have packed a litre bottle of lemon and lime fizzy water too. Obviously I won't eat all of this but I'm trying to give myself as many options as possible.
Dinner is going to be chicken stir fry. Just the veg and chicken plus bean sprouts with a shake of soy and some garlic and chilli. Will take the leftovers to work the next day, as am on a late Wednesday.

How am I doing? X

Trottersindependenttraders · 11/01/2016 22:15

3.5 loss on my first weigh in, so pleased!

I need better lunches so I'm going to trawl through the thread for ideas. And if anyone feels the need, pls share your 'go to' lunches that are tasty and will stop my urge to raid the kids sweet tin mid afternoon Blush

calzone · 11/01/2016 22:29

Feedmyface......avocados are 9.5 syns per 100g so be careful. I would pack a lot more fruit....tangerines, apples and pears and put the choc gems back. :)

Trotters.....
Try SYNS ALLOWED on FB as there are so many food ideas and syns.
Cooked meats, salad
Make a massive pan soup
Leftovers
Saints savoury rice
Bacon and egg thin

I have made Weetabix muffins tonight for tomorrow. They look quite nice.

EmilyK83 · 11/01/2016 22:37

Well done Trotters! Dreading my first one tomorrow...just done 5 mins with the weighted hula hoop, because obviously that's going to make a difference at the last minute?!

I have a question...I have almost 5 stone to lose, but I'm worried about getting saggy skin and losing my boobs! Has this been a problem for anyone else? :-/

FeedMyFaceWithJaffaCakes · 11/01/2016 22:38

Calzone I don't know SW stuff yet, as I said not sure I'm ready mentally, you know "in the zone" I can't even get on the scales I'm too scared.. But I thought avocado was good for you?!

FoofFighter · 11/01/2016 22:38

White sauce sounds intriguing... planning a meal that needs one tomorrow and was going to use my hexa philly light, but will try the cauli sauce! (and add philly to it if needed?!)

plans for tomorrow are:
B: weetabix HEXB, 100ml semi milk 2.5, grated apple
L: hm beetroot, tomato and lentil soup as today, banana
T: chicken and mushroom pasta with HEXA philly light and black pepper

calzone · 11/01/2016 22:51

Foof.....add the Philly as your HEA.

Feedmyface......Tis a bit controversial but SW is very low fat but avocados have a lot of good fats in them but need synning for SW.
Just jump on the scales. Just do it. We have all sorts of weights, heights and dress sizes on here.....and we will help and support you.

I am 3 stone down from where I was last year.

Hiya
im going on week break soon and just wandering seeing its going to be game season does anybody know any lovely sw recipe with phaesant so i can at least try keep on track
many thanks

mangofizz · 11/01/2016 23:12

The avocado syns kill me too as I love them. My lovely husband skinned and stoned one for me to see exactly how much you get for your 100g and without skin and the stone its basically a whole large avocado so you do get quite a lot if you decide to go for it.

I havent been having enough speed food but trying to add it in and not worry too much as im not over eating with the free food which I believe is mainly what the speed food is there to stop you doing!

Today

B: 2 syn free chicken sausages, beans and one slice of wholemeal toast (half HEB)

Handful of grapes

L: 2 scrambled egg, cheese (HEA), mushrooms and beans on one slice of wholemeal toast

D: Slimming world frozen meal, beef and veg crush

Syns 6 for small bar of galaxy

Am very conscious that there isnt a lot of variety going on there but if I will just end up with a load of wet rotten veg in the bottom of my fridge if I dont buy something and eat it until its used. Shot myself in the foot by buying what seems to be the biggest fridge tub of beans I've ever seen so now they are open I will have to eat them until they are finished! It doesnt bother me really but im sure a consultant would be raising an eyebrow! Am 4lbs down since thurs so pleased with progress so far :)

WeShouldOpenABar · 12/01/2016 08:51

morning all

first weigh in and drum-roll please ..... i weigh the exact same as last week.
I promise I stayed on plan and had a lot of speedy veg , most of my recipes came directly from the slimming world website.
I feel like i'm eating way too much food, way way more calories than my normal diet although admittedly slightly healthier.

I'm a bit fed up because this is Christmas weight which should shift fairly quickly. I have done slimming world before and didn't lose anything but I was reading all the success stories again and thought I must have missed something last time, maybe it just doesn't suit me.

Anyway will stick it out as a healthier diet is a good idea but I'm getting married in August and I did want a steady if slow weight loss so I don't feel the need for a crash diet just before!

tabulahrasa · 12/01/2016 09:00

WeShouldOpenABar...

Do you mean you feel like you're eating too much food to lose weight, or that you're eating too much food? Because it should be governed by your appetite.

EmilyK83 · 12/01/2016 09:08

Just think, though, WeShould - maintaining is better than a gain! I have friends who have maintained one week and then lost more than they expected the next week...if you're worried about quantity of food, maybe try replacing some of it with fluids? That's what I'm attempting to do as I also feel like my portions are far too big!

notenoughbottle · 12/01/2016 09:25

Emilyk i lost just over three stones originally on sw - I've put about half of that back on and yes I do have a small amount of loose skin but it's better than squeezing fat into my jeans. Can you exercise? I'd say that would help massively. I was unable to do much exercise as I have a physical disability. I tried a dvd but it was too high intensity for me.

Yesterday -

B - rice pudding and blueberries with agave (2 syns) 1/2 hea with almond milk
L- hm carrot and coriander soup
D- Vegetable and quorn pasta bake (1 hea)
Snacks - banana and two bars 2xheb

Having two of each hea and heb as following old green plan as it worked for me first time round

Today

B- Skyr and frozen fruits
L-Cooked 'breakfast' Linda veggie sausages, mushrooms, beans
D- Vegetable stir fry and noodles
Snacks - pasta and fruit

Aiming to drink as much as possible lots of peppermint tea!
