A brand new thread for 2016.....:)

For old and new members alike....please join in and post food plans, meal ideas, how you use syns, weight losses and gains, how you feel.

I started exactly a year ago on 4 January 2015.
I weighed 14st 3lbs and was a size 16. Bloated and uncomfortable, I was mortified when I saw the scales.
In week 1, I lost 9lbs which has motivated me ever since.
I currently weigh 11st 3.5lbs and just missed my 3 stone certificate at Xmas. Put on 2lbs last week and not really expecting a loss this week but I want to get to 11 stone and then re set my target to 10 stone 7lbs.

I have gone down to a comfortable size 12 and even wore a size 10 Fat Face dress yesterday.

So, let's do this.

I feel quite excited. SW has definitely changed my life......:)

Went for lamb leg steaks and cut all of the fat off, in case anyone was interested!

Filled the slow cooker with the lamb and lots of veggies, some stock, garlic, rosemary and a splodge of red wine that I will have to syn but it was about 1/3 of a glass and will make at least 6 meals so not very many per portion.

I've got jacket potatoes in the oven for lunch with a teeny bit of garlic/sunflower oil purée rubbed on so again a few syns probably. Will eat with 1/2 tin of spaghetti hoops and some salad.

Breakfast was weetabix and skimmed milk again.

Snacks so far - a pear and a banana.

BasinHaircut · 10/01/2016 13:16

em that's hilarious!!!

BasinHaircut · 10/01/2016 13:51

Just had to share that DH weighed in at 15st 9lbs this morning, started at 16st 1 lb last week. That's a loss of 6lbs! I'm so proud of him.

It should spur him on for next week but I'm not sure whether or not I should tell him that he won't lose like that every week so not to be disappointed if next week its only a 2lb loss.

Don't want to immediately piss on his bonfire but he needs to know.

tabulahrasa · 10/01/2016 13:56

Schmangled - a small portion of chip shop chips is 14, cheese is about 5 per 25g, full fat mayo is 5 per level tablespoon.
So I'd guess at least 39 just for that, possibly 10-15 more depending on cheese and mayo tbh.

And a large pitta bread is 11.

So assuming the filling of the kebab is just vegetables and no sauce...

Somewhere between 50 and 65.

Schmangled · 10/01/2016 15:11

Well that's that then.. It can't be done. Haha! Thanks for the info xx

annatha · 10/01/2016 15:16

Had bacon, mushrooms and beans for breakfast and tried the leek and potato soup I made yesterday for lunch- it's yummy and although I was sceptical of the 0% fat yoghurt going in it actually tastes like a creamy fat filled soup and has filled me up. I've got the italian chicken and tomato one in the slow cooker for lunch tomorrow and Monday.

I've been looking at the fitness diary sheets and will try and start some exercise this week. Until it gets lighter in the evenings I've got an hour window a day to get outside in the daylight between babies napping, bedtimes, having some time in the morning with dh etc so I'm struggling to get out with the double buggy like I planned. When it gets lighter it'll be a lot easier to go for a long walk after my toddler has her tea. She'll be a more confident walker by then too so hopefully it'll tire her out!

In the meantime, can anyone recommend any fitness videos on Youtube for absolute beginners? I am incredibly unfit so something gentle to ease me in please!

Howlongtillbedtime · 10/01/2016 15:22

I fell off a wee bit last night . had two beers and some hoummus and a packet of crisps . i knew it would be a bit tricky as i had a friend staying so not too hideous but back on track today .

Weigh in tomorrow morning . bit nervous but fingers crossed for a good first week loss .

Well done to everyone keeping on track , some fab losses .

tabulahrasa · 10/01/2016 15:26

Schmangled...you could get the kebab no problem, it's the chips, loads of cheese and full fat mayo all together that makes it so high.

If for instance, you made garlic mayo with any of the lighter than light ones, 4 tablespoons would be 2 syns, got your DP to bung some SW chips in the oven for you and only had a measured amount of cheese, you could do it easy for 7 syns, plus 11 for the kebab, it's still more than 15, but way way better.

Or get the kebab with something else entirely?

overitalready · 10/01/2016 15:46

Thanks may and schmangled

B - Coffee and banana

D - Roast lamb, s/w roasts, cabbage, broccoli, sprouts, gravy and a Yorkshire pudding

Must have had a 24 hour tummy bug. Feeling a lot better today.

Knackered after my run / walk session today though.

Going to have a hot bath and stick my pjs on.

WineAndIntrigue · 10/01/2016 15:58

Thanks mango, Schmangled and em Smile

I know you're right about the differing weights mango but I'm worried that my starting weight could have been off to start with, not that it makes much difference. I think I'l be taking the weight from my mum's scales this week then Grin

Haha em I love the idea of you moving your scales round the bathroom inch by inch to find the right spot!

drinkyourmilk · 10/01/2016 16:31

funny just asking if you're synning the juices? And are you ok after your chest pains? Flowers

I went a bit off-plan this morning so true to form I've given up today and I'm about to eat a 'normal' fish pie - I didn't have any quark and to be honest I probably wouldn't have used it if I did Shock

Back on it tomorrow!

OrianaBanana · 10/01/2016 19:10

Yes calzone I'm having three SP days. Please don't get out your big stick!! Smile

tabulahrasa · 10/01/2016 19:16

"I don't have a kebab just the chips and pitta as I'm veggie. But it far too many Syns to think about. I will make my own for sure!! x"

I don't eat meat, so I've literally never had a kebab because I'm not paying money for what is effectively a salad sandwich, lol.

Lentil Dahl and Bombay potatoes are pretty low syn (for takeaway I mean) if they do curries as well.

DamedifYouDo · 10/01/2016 19:18

After a good loss yesterday for my first week I have stuck to the plan over the weekend even though dh has been home. I had some wine and chocolate but kept the syns within limits. I can honestly say that I've found it easy this time to stick to the plan and I haven't craved anything. I'm enjoying trying out new recipes and tweeking my normal cooking to fit the eating plan.

B : Bacon, scrambled egg, mushroom, tomatoes
D: Chicken dinner, peas, sprouts, carrots, swede, potato, roast parsnips.
homemade gravy (2 syns)
hea milk for drinks
heb bread for a sandwich later (chicken and salad)

Heyheyheygoodbye · 10/01/2016 19:23

B - banana on toast hexb, chopped apple. 1.5 syns for spread.
L - Nando's butterfly chicken 3 syns with spicy rice 2 syns and corn on the cob.
D - SW tikka masala with green beans. Dessert will be berries with ff nat yog and we will share some Super Mini Lemon Meringues from M&S which are 7 syns for the whole pack so 3.5 syns for half.
Sn - apple, grapes.

Feel so much better after a full week back on plan and DH is back on it now too. He divvied up all out leftover chocs and sweets from Christmas into bags and labelled them with the syns value! What a keeper Grin

Chelsea26 · 10/01/2016 19:30

I've had

B - ham, beans and cheese (hex a) with 2 X toast (hex b)
L - homemade veg soup, carrot sticks and hummus
D - should be chicken, med veg and cous cous but might be curry as DH fancies one and so do I!

Will make my own spicy mushroom rice and minty yoghurt so the syns will be for dried chilli lamb (oh my god just typing it makes me happy!) and a dollop of mango chutney

On the plus side I have made my overnight oats, hummus and soup for meals at work this week so no excuse for falling off the wagon!

Weighing in tomorrow - I am 5' 5" and weigh 12.12. I am really dense though so comfortable weight for me is 11.4 (that makes me at most a 12 in every shop and I still have some boobs!) even though the BMI is still high at 11.4

formerlymumstaxi · 10/01/2016 19:47

Very pleased with today although just realised that as I had a lovely lie in I didn't have breakfast and didn't use either HE other than a couple of coffees.

L jacket potato, beans, hams & large salad

D Turkey shami kebab (SW curry book) with tsatziki (SW recipe) & salad

Snacks - banana, satsumas, Muller lemon yoghurt (1 syn) Chocolate mini roll (6)

Kebabs tasty but a little dry and needed the tsatziki - taking leftover dip for work tomorrow with pepper & carrot sticks.
Determined not to go off plan as I usually do on Mondays!

calzone · 10/01/2016 20:47
