A brand new thread for 2016.....:)

For old and new members alike....please join in and post food plans, meal ideas, how you use syns, weight losses and gains, how you feel.

I started exactly a year ago on 4 January 2015.
I weighed 14st 3lbs and was a size 16. Bloated and uncomfortable, I was mortified when I saw the scales.
In week 1, I lost 9lbs which has motivated me ever since.
I currently weigh 11st 3.5lbs and just missed my 3 stone certificate at Xmas. Put on 2lbs last week and not really expecting a loss this week but I want to get to 11 stone and then re set my target to 10 stone 7lbs.

I have gone down to a comfortable size 12 and even wore a size 10 Fat Face dress yesterday.

So, let's do this.

I feel quite excited. SW has definitely changed my life......:)

Welcome to all of the newcomers!

Going to do a lamb casserole for dinner today, with leftovers for lunch tomorrow. Yum! Anyone know What lamb cut should I use?

Got the food shop to do this morning too.

calzone · 10/01/2016 08:27

A hearty welcome to all the new ones!!

Top tips (maybe we could copy and paste as we post tips ?)

  • Try and stay to the group if you can. It really helps.
  • Meal Plan
  • Even if you have had a bad week, just face the scales.
  • Keep a food diary and be honest:)

smangled I don't think you need to have a day off, I think that's the point of syns. On a Friday I usually have 2x glasses of wine & a Chinese. I'm still doing that. I just work out the syn value and put it on my log. It's 16 syns for 2x 250 ml of dry white wine, boiled rice free, beef with mushrooms 8.5 syns = 24.5 in total. I just cut back to 12 syns every other day, and it's well within plan. I have stopped having crispy chilli beef as the takeaway version is about 29 syns!

OrianaBanana · 10/01/2016 09:18

I always think if I want something I can have it - no guilt.

But I have to accept before I eat it that it will affect what the scale says. Sometimes this stops me having it - sometimes not! Wink

My group's Facebook group is currently going mad over baked oats for brekkie so I will try that when I have the ingredients!

Today:

B - banana, yoghurt, Apple, coffee (HExA milk throughout)
L - grill up in town probably - HExB toast and syns for whatever like butter
D - SW fish pie with whatever speed veg I can find.

Shop is coming tonight thank heavens!

OrianaBanana · 10/01/2016 09:20

NB This only applies if it's something I can't fit in my syns like drinkyourmilk says

daffsntulips · 10/01/2016 09:34

Hi

Does anyone know if free lifetime membership applies to online members?

I have been doing SW since June 2015 and am almost at target, I know that if I was going to a group then as long as I stayed within 3 lbs of my target I would't have to pay; is this the same for those doing it online only?

Many thanks

TwoTonTessie · 10/01/2016 09:48

Morning (waves at all the newbies)
daffs no, online target membership isn't free at the present time. You only go free at group.
It's going to group and following these threads that have kept me motivated and enabled me to reach target so quickly. I also regularly read the success stories online when I feel less on track as it really helps me focus.
For brunch today I've had an omelette with spinach, tomatoes, mushrooms and light cheese as hex a. I'm feeling full up so probably won't have much for lunch. I am making SW quiche for my lunches next week so will probably have that with lots of salad bits for tea. Need to have some hex b's though.
Good luck everyone.

mangofizz · 10/01/2016 10:06

Sabotaged myself by accident yesterday, called into the pub and ordered a bottle of kopperberg without even thinking about it! 11 syns apparently, what a waste!!! I'd already had the avocado for lunch too so that will have sent me over for the day. Trying not to feel too bad though as I know avocados are quite fatty and calorific but still seems slightly ridiculous to me that you have to syn an avocado but could have 6 muller lights and 2 litres of diet coke for free.

Anyway, aside from the slight error, the rest of the day went well. This morning i've had 2 syn free sausages and beans on 1 slice of wholemeal toast (half hexb)

Unsure what to eat for the rest of the day, I hope planning isnt what is going to let me down on this diet. My Dh is back to work tomorrow after being off a lifetime for xmas so I should be able to get back into a good routine then

formerlymumstaxi · 10/01/2016 10:18

Hello Mango - I'm laughing at the "accidental" ordering of the cider! At least it was only one :-) I really struggle when we go to our local - gave up diet coke last year as I drank so much. There's only so much soda water you can drink - but at least they don't charge for it!
I had avacado in a salad on Friday - does seem mad it's 9 syns but I hadnt had any others all day so worth the treat.
Well done on your 3lbs so far this week - I'm trying to stay off the scales till Thursday. I think today's going to be a planning and shipping day.

Solina · 10/01/2016 10:29

Todays going to be a good day!

B - toast (hexb), butter (4syns), cucumber and eggs + fruit
L - ham pastasalad (need to check lighter than light mayo syns)
D - Roast chicken SW style (need to check gravy syns still)

Im hoping all in all it will be around 10 syns today max!

mangofizz · 10/01/2016 10:43

It was really funny but I was so mad with myself, didn't even enjoy it! I'd only been boasting earlier on in the day that if I'm on a diet I don't mess about and then go and do that!

Think I will devote some time to planning today too. I won't cheat but I will end up eating the same thing everyday and getting bored if I don't do some forward thinking!

I like to weigh everyday so I can understand how much my weight fluctuates naturally. For me, if I weigh once a week I might think I've gained a couple of pounds and get disheartened when really I must always hover around the same couple of pound mark, I just like to have some understanding of it

mangofizz · 10/01/2016 10:44

What does everyone drink if they go to the pub now?? I'll be on the Diet Coke I think as the cordials are never no added sugar and I think I would actually die if I had to drink water in the pub! Grin

JOEYDOESNTSHAREFOOD · 10/01/2016 10:44

Good morning all,

I think I introduced myself on the last thread. I joined online as I can't make it to meetings.

Since then my life has basically been turned upside down and as a result I properly lost the plot, food wise, in the run up to Christmas - living off takeaways and constantly shovelling rubbish in. I mean 2-3 tubes of Pringles, boxes of chocolates A DAY. I gained 10lbs and tipped the scales at 14st.

I came to my senses a couple of days before Christmas and reined myself in - actually lost weight (albeit just 1lb) Christmas week. Lost 4lbs the week after and will weigh in again tomorrow.

I'm not a huge veg eater so have had to get creative. Bought a spiraliser and actually love having courgetti instead of pasta. I had Fopperholics carrot oats for breakfast this morning - basically a whole carrot grated into porridge. It doubles the bulk and you can't taste any difference once it's cooked.

Anyway, I'm feeling positive. Need to massively increase my exercise, but, you know, baby steps.

Loving reading about everyone's journeys. Hoping to check in everyday with you all.

tabulahrasa · 10/01/2016 10:49

Mango - if I'm drinking, then spirits and diet mixer...till I get too drunk to count syns and decide shots and blue wkd are warranted Blush (the second part is not advisable)

mangofizz · 10/01/2016 11:05

We've just got a spiralizer Joey, LOVE it!!!

formerlymumstaxi · 10/01/2016 11:06

Well done Joey for getting back on track before Christmas and losing 4lbs so far. I can't get to meetings either but decided not to do the online one - hoping that using my own spreadsheet to track loss (and possibly a few gains) and coming on here will keep me on track. Need to lose 2.5 stone before the summer.

y0rkier0se · 10/01/2016 12:03

Weighed in this morning with a 6lb loss. Chuffed to bits and it's motivated me to stick to it Smile

cowboylover · 10/01/2016 12:34

Welcome newbies and Giraffe I had my gall bladder removed as well and feel much better on plan now than I was before.

How long since you had yours out?
To start with I couldn't eat foods like strawberries but as times gone on I can eat much more now Smile

WineAndIntrigue · 10/01/2016 12:47

Hi everyone - just checking in with all the food diaries I've missed.

Totally fell of wagon on Friday with a pretty bad hangover, ended up having all the carbs topped with all the cheese. Straight back on yesterday though - at work all day so didn't manage to eat til dinner time, but had pasta pesto with roasted veg and HexA cheese (8 syns total) and a couple extra syns for tea throughout the day.

Food diary for today:

B - vanilla muller light and grapes
L - HexB wholemeal toast and scrambled egg
D - Spaghetti and meatballs, assuming mince in the fridge hasn't gone off!

I was wondering if anyone could recommend the scales they use at home (ideally digital)? I've weight myself at home, at my nan's and at my mum's this weekend and they show different weights from +3lbs to -6lbs.

WineAndIntrigue · 10/01/2016 12:47

Oooh and congrats y0rkie and everyone else who's had a loss this week Smile

y0rkier0se · 10/01/2016 12:52

Thank you!

Schmangled · 10/01/2016 12:52

We used to have a kebab shop takeaway once a week - hubby would like to still have his kebab - and I was thinking after weigh in would be a good day as A) I've got the rest of the week to jump straight back on plan and B) I get in late from group - he could order as I'm driving home. I only have a small chips and cheese with garlic mayo and a pitta bread (veggie). I know I know, I could make it at home but it's just 'our thing' (and cheese would be syns for me as my healthy extra is used daily on milk).

Any idea of the syns in this?

I've searched online but can only find McDonald chips, or Indian and Chinese takeaways - could do with a kebab shop menu syn list!

Thanks for the welcome everyone. This seems a nice place xx

mangofizz · 10/01/2016 12:53

We have the fitbit scales Wine, they sync to the app and my fitnesspal etc. All scales will show different weights to some degree, just choose one and always weigh at same time etc and it wont matter.

Schmangled · 10/01/2016 12:54

Wine I recently got the colour match cheap ones from Argos. Good reviews and no problems so far (though I'm not bloomin using them now I'm at group) x

emwithme · 10/01/2016 13:15

I can lose up to a stone by moving the scales round the bathroom floor. Mine are Lidl (or Aldi, I can never remember which one) cheapies though.

To get the same "weight" as at group, I have to have them in a particular spot an inch and a half back from the door and two inches from the tall cabinet we have!
