A brand new thread for 2016.....:)

For old and new members alike....please join in and post food plans, meal ideas, how you use syns, weight losses and gains, how you feel.

I started exactly a year ago on 4 January 2015.
I weighed 14st 3lbs and was a size 16. Bloated and uncomfortable, I was mortified when I saw the scales.
In week 1, I lost 9lbs which has motivated me ever since.
I currently weigh 11st 3.5lbs and just missed my 3 stone certificate at Xmas. Put on 2lbs last week and not really expecting a loss this week but I want to get to 11 stone and then re set my target to 10 stone 7lbs.

I have gone down to a comfortable size 12 and even wore a size 10 Fat Face dress yesterday.

So, let's do this.

I feel quite excited. SW has definitely changed my life......:)

Im 42% body fat Mum, my husband is 16% according to our scales, I have never had so much hate for an inanimate object!!

I'd like to try running too but I really dont think i'd be very good at it (probably only in it for the new trainers and world of sports clothing that would open up) and i've said so often how much I hate all that kind of thing that everyone would mercilessly take the mick so im put right off

y0rkier0se · 07/01/2016 21:36

First day with my Fitbit today and it turns out I do nothing like 10,000 steps Blush had a late breakfast of a small tin of spaghetti hoops, scrambled egg made with 2 eggs and a splash of milk (1 syn) and 4 bacon medallions. Snacked on a small banana, 2 clementines and an apple. Then dinner was a maggi bag (Italian chicken) packed with peppers and tomatoes and chicken, served with homemade potato wedges, then had a dairy milk as a treat for 12 syns Grin my first bit of chocolate since I started on Monday and hoping I won't be tempted to have any more this week.

mumthetaxidriver · 07/01/2016 21:42

Thanks for sharing your body fat % Mango - I'm hoping that as the weight comes off I might be able to enjoy seeing the % go down! I'm also thinking I should change my name - mum is a bit odd and now my son's are older I'm more or less redundant as their driver!

mangofizz · 07/01/2016 22:09

Lol, it did feel weird writing mum, but taxi felt rude haha. I was pretty shocked by my body fat. Having said that, I have fluctuated by about 4 or 5lbs since we got those scales and it always says 42. something so I dont think it can be that accurate really. We have the fitbit scales that record your weight directly onto the app, I feel like they have something personal against me!

Wibblewobble100 · 07/01/2016 22:23

Re body fat.... I'm reliably informed that for a 6 pack, women need less than 15% and men less than 10%. My interpretation of this is that most slim size 10 women will still be around 20% body fat, so it's not like we should be aiming for zero!

wonkylampshade · 07/01/2016 22:36

Terrible day for me as worked away all day. 4 Viennese swirls dipped in chocolate, a wispa, a chicken sandwich and then chicken in black bean sauce Blush

The only heathy things I ate all day were two apples.

Stupid of me not to take packed lunch and my own food as I was stuck in the same room for the full day and catering laid on.

calzone · 07/01/2016 22:46

B....fruit and yoghurt
Peach
L....sushi (2)
Jacket potato, beans and SW coleslaw, plum
D.....spaghetti with kale, fried ham, mushrooms, courgette, pesto (3), HEA Parmesan 15g

Snacks.....hifi bar (3)
Alpen light (3)

HEB....hifi salted peanut bar :)

Hi all!
I joined SW in June and have lost 3st 1.5lb so far. Joining slimming world is the best thing I've ever done for my health and I wish I'd done it long before I did.

Our group got cancelled last week due to the flooding we've had but it's back on tomorrow. I'm not sure exactly what my Christmas gain was but from weighing at home I reckon on about 4lb which isn't bad at all.

I've been back on plan since Monday so we'll see what the scales say tomorrow.

Today I've had
B- fruit & 1 slice wholemeal toast
L- salad with chicken & mushroom pasta and sauce
D- turkey breast steak with ratatouille and butternut squash
Syns- 4 x wine gums (1.5syns for 2), 2 x after 8 mints (2 Syns each) and a quarter of a slice of Nutella on toast pinched from my 3y.o

dorlydoo · 07/01/2016 23:10

I agree Wibble... I think most slim women have around 20-27% body fat...
Mangofizz I too find the different heights and weights interesting... And good to know our own personal goals are what's important... At my slimmest (as a teen of course) I was size 10 and 11st7lbs :-D there's a website that shows women's heights and weights in pictures if ya Google it... Good to see the variations... :-D good luck on your journey!

alleypalley · 08/01/2016 00:51

I was really struggling to get back on plan last week after an indulgent Christmas. I've managed 3 good days in a row now so starting to feel more positive, I have my meals planned for tomorrow and a few syns saved for the weekend if I need them.

I'm 5'7", I think was 12st2.5lbs at last weigh in and currently wear a size 12/14. That's mostly cheap Primark clothes though that tend to come up a bit bigger.

calzone · 08/01/2016 07:12

When I was 14st 3, I was a tight size 16. Am 5ft 5".

Got to about 12st 10 and was a size 14.

Am now 11st 7 and a comfortable size 12 but can get into a 10 in places. :)

Sizings are odd.

OP posts:
FannyFanakapan · 08/01/2016 07:23

I am 5'6".

AT just under 17st I was a size 20-22

at 15st an 18-20

At since reaching 13st, ive been in a 16, now at 12st5, I am comfortably so!

I was once 9st7 (many years ago) and a size 12, so I think it has as much to do with body shape and individual sizing from companies - non standardized and vanity sizing nowadays mean that its hard to know what the correct size is.

Sizing is only a number after all. We should look at how we look and feel in an outfit, rather than the number on the label.

BasinHaircut · 08/01/2016 08:27

Against my better judgement, I just weighed myself. I was 12st 1lb on Sunday and now I'm 11st 12lb. So a loss of 3 lb in 5 days!

OrianaBanana · 08/01/2016 08:49

I'm 5 foot 5 and at 12 stone 8 I was a tight M&S size 14. 1.5 stones (and 9 months...) later at 11 stone I'm a comfy M&S 12, 14 still in other places. As you can see from my before and after photos, the clothes make a lot of difference.

At my lightest in uni I was 10 stone 4 and a size 12.

Being a pear shape I always had a slim waist (relative to my massive arse of course) which I never appreciated, until I had a 10lb 6oz baby from which my tummy never recovered Confused On the plus side, a bigger tummy means trousers generally fit better and I don't have the dreaded waist gap!

Yesterday slightly off plan so determined to do better today...

B - hifi (HExB), coffee (milk from HExA) and apple
L - mugshot, yoghurt, pear, plum
D - SW ready meal (we have a Hello Fresh box and the recipe's not really suitable) with Brussels sprouts and whatever other speed veg I can find

(Haven't done my shop yet)

Trying to keep syns low to non-existent...

MeltedMoments · 08/01/2016 09:21

I'm 5ft 6 and at 20st 10lb (can't actually believe that's what I weighed Sad) I was size 24/26. Now I'm 17st 8.5lb and I'm a 20/22

SylvDP · 08/01/2016 09:33

Yesterday's food:
B: overnight oats HexB with Persimmon
L: chicken, lettuce, pepper, cue, beetroot. Mullerlight .
D: jacket pot, pepper, carrot, more beetroot
Syns: coleslaw, cheese straws (3)
HexA skimmed milk during the day.

I was at work for lunch and supper which makes food a great deal easier to organise. Today should be about the same.
I have been using my Fitbit all week and have done 10k steps every day. I'm very active at work and have walked dd to school most mornings.

carbcraver · 08/01/2016 10:28

Help!!!
Pretty sure my book went out with the recycling Sad

I want to syn the skimmed milk I have for breakfast/coffee but Google is just giving me the amount I can use for my HEA!

Can anyone help me with the syn value of skimmed milk!!?? I'll be eternally grateful!! (The app won't download before anyone suggests that! I don't have enough memory Angry)

WineAndIntrigue · 08/01/2016 10:36

Didn't have the most impressive day yesterday - when I pledged to avoid drinking all January I forgot I had a friend's leaving do last night - he's off to America so it was a bit of a celebration.

Anyway, to get to the point - I drank everything. Oops. Skipped dinner and had a packet of crisps instead, but I'm desperate for carbohydrates now and people at work are talking about pizza or fish and chips for lunch...we'll see if I can resist.

At the moment, food diary for yesterday:

B- Forgot to bring any.
L - Jacket potato, beans, HexA cheese, lots of salad.
D - Packet of crisps.
Snacks - apple, all the wine/gin.

Today:

B- 3 bottles of Diet Coke (ahem)
L - Jacket potato as above.
D - either 5 syn burger or 5 syn spaghetti and meatballs (will save HexA)
Snacks - fruit.

I cheated and jumped on the scales yesterday morning. Pleasantly surprised by 2lbs loss but will wait and see total on Sunday morning.

WineAndIntrigue · 08/01/2016 10:39

carbcraver have just looked this up on the syns thing online (I'm an online member only) - looks like 1.5-2 syns for 100ml of skimmed milk, depending on where it's from (Tesco, Yeo Valley etc). 6 syns for 350ml.

carbcraver · 08/01/2016 10:51

wine you are a legend! Thanks!!

OrianaBanana · 08/01/2016 11:07

carbcraver you can also count half a syn for each splash of skimmed milk in tea\coffee.

BasinHaircut · 08/01/2016 11:09

Dress size and weight completely baffle me too. At 12st I'm a 12, and 10 and a half stone I'm a 12 (albeit a more comfortable one). I'm 5ft 9ins so look like I weigh a lot less than I do. Which you would think is a good thing but it isn't, it makes it really hard to stay focused.

BasinHaircut · 08/01/2016 11:13

Ohh and today's food:

B- weetabix and skimmed milk (HE A&B)
L- leftover sausage and mustard pasta with lettuce and cucumber
D- gammon, egg, SW chips and peas
Snacks - banana, pear, clementine

I'm really loving this thread, thanks everyone. It's good to hear about others and know that people are hearing about how it's going for you too.

PrivatePollyPerks · 08/01/2016 11:40

Just back from weigh in... 2lb loss giving me my stone award! Really pleased with myself :) total loss so far 1st 0.5lb :)

tabulahrasa · 08/01/2016 11:42

I'm 5 7.5 (the .5 is important ok? Lol)

At 18 and a half stones I was a 22, occasionally a 24...at 12 and a half I was a 12...I'm still a 12 at 10 and a half, lol.
