A brand new thread for 2016.....:)

For old and new members alike....please join in and post food plans, meal ideas, how you use syns, weight losses and gains, how you feel.

I started exactly a year ago on 4 January 2015.
I weighed 14st 3lbs and was a size 16. Bloated and uncomfortable, I was mortified when I saw the scales.
In week 1, I lost 9lbs which has motivated me ever since.
I currently weigh 11st 3.5lbs and just missed my 3 stone certificate at Xmas. Put on 2lbs last week and not really expecting a loss this week but I want to get to 11 stone and then re set my target to 10 stone 7lbs.

I have gone down to a comfortable size 12 and even wore a size 10 Fat Face dress yesterday.

So, let's do this.

I feel quite excited. SW has definitely changed my life......:)

BasinHaircut · 07/01/2016 12:07

working from home today so have just stuck a veg curry in the slow cooker. i think i was a bit too enthusiastic with my veg buying for week one of SW so i wanted to use it before it all went bad. probably got 4 dinners worth for me and DH in there so am thinking i could chuck in some leftover roast meat and do some rice and thats 4 v quick 0 syn dinners for the nxt 4 mondays sorted!

loving the sound of the overnight oats with cinnamon/apple/nuts. think ill try that out at the weekend. would be v good for DH to take to work (as it will require 0% effort from him) so hopefully he will like it.

emmaluvseeyore · 07/01/2016 12:22

Plan for today:
B: bran flakes (he), milk (1/2 he), lemon squash
L: leftover chicken fried rice (2.5 syns), babybel (1/2 he), apple, diet coke
D: no idea - I'm doing a talk at the local Rotary Club and they are providing dinner for me
Snacks: clementine, ham

Fingers crossed my dinner isn't too bad. I don't like not having control over my meals!

Solina · 07/01/2016 12:29

B - 2 wholemeal slices (hexb + 4 syns as it was thick slices), eggs, butter (4 syns), cucumber
L - muller light, banana and homemade soup
D - salmon, mash and veg
S - apples if needed.

Trying to stay within the syns today to make up for yesterday. Im super tired though and work is still rubbish so might make OH responsible for cooking the dinner tonight (to my instructions).

OrianaBanana · 07/01/2016 13:09

Sorry to hear of work woes Flowers Mine's not great either, I ate a Danish for breakfast when I'd brought in my carefully-prepped overnight oats Hmm

I lost 2.5lbs of my Christmas weight this week - only 4 to go til I'm back where I was!

B - Danish Hmm
L - canteen slow-roasted lean beef, mash, carrot & swede and cauliflower
D - my overnight oats (HExB) if they're still ok Wink

No more syns today. I'm counting about 17 for the Danish and 3 to cover any butter in the mash at lunch.

Fruit for snacks and HExA in coffees and teas.

emwithme · 07/01/2016 13:36

WI this morning and 3.5 lbs of my Christmas gain lost.

I'm having an SP day today:

Post-weigh in snack: Hifi bars (HEB) - I left my bloody fruit bag at home like an eejit.
Lunch: Mackerel salad with cheese (HEA)
Dinner: Salmon fillet with cauliflower, broccoli, green beans, kale
Late night snack: Hifi bars.

I'm about to cook some of the iceland meatballs to chill down, and boil some eggs to have as snacks for the next couple of days.

DamedifYouDo · 07/01/2016 14:08

I started online last Saturday and the week seems to be going well so far, I seem to be getting my head around it now! I did join many years ago and didn't get on with the green / red days - it seems much better suited to me this time.
My dh has just started working away from home Mon - Fri so I only have to focus on feeding myself and dc (10 / 8) during the week, my weight day is Saturday so I can relax a bit on the weekend with DH and then really focus during the week.
A good loss this week would be encouraging, fingers crossed!

B = shredded wheat (hex b) milk (hex a)
L = home made veg curry with rice (3 syns in curry sauce)
D = Jacket, cottage cheese, salad

snacks today will be fruit and maybe a free yoghurt later.

No more syns for me today unless I need some more milk for drinks!

MostGhostsAreMad · 07/01/2016 15:37

I'm having an SP day today, too. So far today I've had:-

Breakfast: Tea, dash of milk (1/2 syn), porridge (HEB), raspberries

Coffee with sweetener and dash of milk (1/2 syn)

Lunch: Spiced-up baked beans with red onions, tomatoes & paprika on a toasted wholemeal roll (HEB) topped with grated Cheddar (HEA), with large helping of mixed leaf & beetroot salad

Dinner will probably be prawn curry with as many vegetables as I can put in (and prawns too, obviously) with cauliflower rice. And I'll probably have some Tesco hot chocolate (2 syns) later, and a Muller Chocolate Fix (5 syns) assuming my DH hasn't eaten them all

QueenFuri · 07/01/2016 16:08

First proper day at it I had a weird stomach bug yesterday and spent it throwing up!! Anyways today I have had,
2 weetabix and semi skimmed milk out my allowances
Tuna with natural yogurt, a dash of light Mayo, salad, lettuce, celery, tomato, onion, peppers a bit of fat free vinegarette and a beetroot salad.
Had a few pieces of fruit for snack
Dinner will be chilli made with lean diced beef, tinned toms usual chilli spices, some rice, broccoli and sprouts. I will have a mullerlight and some fruit later. Does it sound ok?

Onmyown1 · 07/01/2016 16:33

maygirl · 07/01/2016 17:32

Going to have homemade soup now before going Wine tasting with DH this evening. Then back on dry January and have decided to stick to 8 syns or less a day most days as my weight loss is so slow . Good luck those weighing in tonight Smile

Buttwing · 07/01/2016 18:00

I'm going to start doing a few sp days and was wondering if anyone had any good recipe ideas?
I was thinking of maybe doing an so cottage pie tomorrow with carrot and swede mash topping instead. But could do with some tasty ideas.

annatha · 07/01/2016 18:19

Just rang the consultant to join on Saturday, no going back now! I'll doing the main food shop on Tuesday but have roughly planned meals from the sw website for the weekend and Monday and have grabbed some alpen lights, fruit and sliced ham to snack on until then. Its really helpful seeing what others eat in a typical day. As much as I'd like to cook lovely meals three times a day with two children under 2 it isn't going to happen.

Buttwing · 07/01/2016 18:23

Anna cook in bulk it helps me no end I've got a one and a two year old so I know it's tricky! My freezer has loads of foil dishes so I always have something I can bung in the microwave/oven.

FannyFanakapan · 07/01/2016 18:56

B: Banana, grapes, persimmon, yoghurt
l: Potato, leeks, ham, cheese (2).
d: Rice, stir fry, chinese pork chop (4.5). Bread and butter (hexB and 2).
sn: Orange, peach

weigh in tomorrow - feeling positive!

overitalready · 07/01/2016 19:39

B - Coffee and appe

L - Mugshot, banana, pear, yog, blueberries and babybel

D - Cottage pie with carrot and parsnip topping with baby courgettes, sweetcorn, brocolli and gravy

S - Mini twirl

Heyheyheygoodbye · 07/01/2016 19:44

Weigh in - lost 3.5lb which I'm super happy with as even after last week's absurdly large gain I still didn't get back on plan until Monday.

B - satsumas and tea miLL 0.5 syns
L - apple, babybels hexa, baby carrots
D - pulled pork with a jacket potato and greens. Muller light and an 11 syn Aldi praline bar.

DH has gone off the rails a bit. Gained three weeks in a row and is now heavier than when he started. I'm trying to encourage him by planning and cooking (together) lots of his favourite meals and things...any other tips to support him?

backinschool · 07/01/2016 20:17

I been starving all day and had a craving for rubbish white bread so I've had:

B- weetabix, semi, sugar (1)
L- SW burger and bacon in 1 slice bread (6 syn), grilled peppers and tomatoes
D- Chicken, pepper, courgette and broccoli stirfry with noodles (1).
Snack - HiFi bar (3), 2 mint humbugs (4)

More syns than I usually use but far less food/rubbish than I would usually eat on a day like today.

dorlydoo · 07/01/2016 20:54

mangofizz · 07/01/2016 21:01

Hi Ladies, im going to join in too if thats ok

Im 5'10 and weighed in this morning at 187lbs (13st 3?) I find it really interesting looking at everyones heights, weights and dress sizes as I never realised how much it must depend on how the weight is distributed! Dorlydoo, I weigh 2 stone less than you, im taller and at my current weight im a good 16, sometimes an 18, if I was a 14 I probably wouldnt bother going on diet lol. My target weight loss is 33lbs which will take me to 11 stone. I weigh in every day as I like to understand the variation in my weight day to day/totm etc.

Today's food, how does it look? I dont think I was prepared enough so didnt manage a HexB. I havent had enough speed food either I'd say. Does this really matter as long as you arent going mental with other free food?
B: 3 medallions of bacon (thin rashers with the fat and rind cut off)
Scrambled egg (2 eggs)
L: Baked potato with tuna and onion (mixed with fat free fromage frais)
Satsuma
D: 1 chicken breast, 1/2 butternut squash (as noodles), 1/2 onion, 30g grated cheese over the top as HexA
Syns: Bag of maltesers (9?)
Have drunk 3 pints of no added sugar squash and a pint of diet coke

ateacupofgin · 07/01/2016 21:13

Heyhey my DH is struggling with this too... Currently going 'his' version which is not SW at all, just usual food minus red wine!!

He is v competitive and so I've said that given the fantastic losses of the blokes at my group he should aim to lose more than be. If he doubles my loss I will do Sunday kids football... And he gets a lie in!

Wibblewobble100 · 07/01/2016 21:14

I've had:
B fruit and muller
L carrot and lentil soup, 1 slice toast hexB with Phili light 1 syn, boiled egg ( I eat at least an egg a day😯)
D Sticky chicken 3 syn and cauliflower cous cous:amazing Lorraine pascal recipe. V yummy.
Snacks: ham, a few of the baby's Pom bears and rice cakes 4 syns
Milk in tea for hex A

ateacupofgin · 07/01/2016 21:18

Seems I am not the only one not enjoying with this week... I am surrounded by biscuit pushing sugary twats who openly laugh at my lunches.

I am not allowed to snack on fruit at my desk ... Biscuits or crisps allowed but not fruit as it apparently takes too much time... (Can't believe a workplace can ban healthy fruit FFS!!) I am not in a good place with work, this has stressed me out so much this week but I am trying to finish the week well. Will take frittata kcubes tomorrow for snacks as it's one of my faves!

mumthetaxidriver · 07/01/2016 21:21

So pleased to find this thread - massively need some help with this. Ive done SW a few times with success but in the last year or so its crept back on and I've just bought bigger clothes - now feeling really rubbish. It was my son's 18th birthday on Sunday - I hate myself in the photos.
Weighed this morning (can't get to a meeting at the moment although I know it works better for me) 12st 7 - 5ft 6 - and size 16 now. What hit home most was that our new scales show 34% body fat which is pretty bad.
Sorry sounds like a real moan - on the plus side I shopped today and have been on plan all day - made a massive batch of roast parsnip soup too.
Still undecided about starting Couch to 5k - tried before and hated running - but my son was really encouraging and we did about 5 weeks but don't think he wants to do it again. Maybe I should just aim for a quick dog walk every night.
Anyway good luck to everyone as they start off their weight loss journeys in 2016...I'm hoping to report back at least 4lbs next Thursday.

BasinHaircut · 07/01/2016 21:29

Haven't eaten enough fruit today. Well I've had none so definitely not enough.

Breakfast was 2 weetabix and skimmed milk (HE A&B)

Lunch was chicken and cous cous salad. Teeny tiny bit of Mayo.

Sausage and mustard pasta, with iceberg and grated carrot on the side tonight.
