morning all! Ive got a busy busy day ahead!

I have lost 3 stone, and although my clothes are baggy, the weight around my waist is not shifting. I still look like slightly smaller version of humpty dumpty. Menopause is a bitch.

Also, all the flab has been hiding some serious varicose veins. My legs look like the london underground in 3d. Ive a cracker that runs over the knee - no more short skirts or dresses for me. Sad

Hello, do you mind if I join you?

A bit about me : I am a serious faffer; get easily sidetracked by "this diet is better" so never give anything a proper shot. I've been a member online for six months a little while. I love the idea of eating well but so very hung up on eating too much. I've lost inches through exercise but the weight is just.......still there. No surprise when I'd regard a bag of kettle chips as a square meal.

I go on holiday in less than four weeks and I so want to enjoy it and feel better about myself, even half a stone would make a huge difference although I'm secretly hoping for a bit more than that.

I'm 46 ( hell, it gets harder to shift), 5ft 6 ins and today I weighed 11:11.

So today I had a peach and coffee for breakfast - I'm not a huge breakfast person.

I made SW quiche for lunch, all free, with salad, balsamic vinegar and a large tsp of light mayo. Nectarine afterwards.

I've got chicken and salad for dinner tonight as I'm out early, so can probably call that my first day!

I'm just going to go and read through your last thread for some top tips Nd inspiration!

Hello all and thank you Calzone for inviting me :) I have so many questions to ask. Firstly I see from comments that speed foods are a must with every meal. Why? and what do they do? For example:- why would a jacket potato and beans have to have a speed food with it.

Can I join in again please? I have been stalking the other thread but not posted.

I was 2st 1lb down at last weeks weigh in, weigh in again this afternoon. I'll be lucky not to get a gain this week, but fingers crossed. Am hopefully biking a holiday with a friend for mid august and would like a stone off by then if humanly possible.

Today is:

Brunch of 4 egg omelette with cheese and lots of onion (6 syns for cheese)

Dinner: boiled rice and a tin of asda smartprice chilli (I know, but it's nice in a bad way!) 1 syn, maybe with a tin of sweetcorn.

Fruit as snacks. Milk as a HEa and if I have my HEb it will be a hifi light bar or two.

Dogood, 1/3 speed foods is somwthing recommended with SW, but it's not absolutely essential, although it may mean you lose more slowly if you don't. It's just a method of portion control, as if you're filling up on low calorie fruit and veg, you're not filling up on higher calorie proteins and carbs.

I don't always eat 1/3 speed, but the more speed foods I eat, the more I do lose.

dogood · 01/07/2015 11:21

Thanks, because speed foods seem to be a must on the SW diet just wondered if there was some science behind it.

dogood · 01/07/2015 11:33

Also, I'm not that keen on salads but I love fruit. So for example if I have a potato with beans, could I then have some fruit instead or do I have to have both?

Ravioli that's a really great, sustainable, weight loss. If you lose 1 lb a week (which you've pretty much been doing) then over a year, that's 3 STONE 10 LBS

Has anyone tried the Iceland meatballs? We had an issue with the pork fillet I had bought earlier this week I mis-read the use-by date and it was off when I wanted to use it so had to bring the meals forward a day. DH is cooking tonight so I was thinking pasta and meatballs with the Iceland SW branded ones.

Dogood you've got 2 hex b - weetabix & bread.
Options are syns, approx 2? Cheese is approx 5 if its low fat,
Mayo is syns too
I would say even though you've fruit, there's not enough veg (speed foods) and your going to be hungry.

Can any one add to this??

I've just been through the previous thread and looking at it, I don't think I follow the plan and eat too little. Not enough speed & no fruit. I'm the first to tell ppl that
Can I join back on 13 July please. ?
I'm off on holiday tomorrow & will be 7lb heavier by then.
I promise myself I'll not eat pastries for breakfast but cock it up by day 3. I've packed my kit and will try my best to eat good but alcohol is on the list.x

Another question. I understand syns and how they are calculated but how many do I have a day??? Is it up to a max 15 or is it lowered depending on what weight you want to lose?

Report
FannyFanakapan · 01/07/2015 19:27

15 a day, but you can use more and then even it out over the week.

so you have 105 a week, and you can use up to 60 in any given day, but then you have to reduce down to 8 or less a day for the rest of the week.

dont go below 5 per day, because then you will feel deprived and be tempted to snack.

My day is looking like this:

B: Fish, boiled egg, tomato
L: Salad with 2tbs lighter than light mayo (1 syn)
Sn: 1 slice bread (hexB) with 1 tsp butter (2 syns)
D: Spag Bolognesse. 1 piece french bread (counting as 4)

I've seen a lot of people having a cooked breakfast, unfortunately I just can't stomach anything but cereal in the morning. So if I'm getting my head around it all for brekkie I should be able to have cereal, fruit and yoghurt?? Hmm

I had a really light day yesterday, just because I was busy as opposed to trying to be good.

Today has been better. I prepped an overnight oats last night with fat free Greek yoghurt and frozen raspberries.....oh my god - so delicious.

I had left over SW quiche for lunch with salad and a spoonful of ketchup (1)

Steak and quinoa salad with loads of chopped salad vegetables and feta (h/a). Yoghurt, garlic and lime dressing on the side.

10 syns on salted roasted almonds.

Sugar free squash, litres of water and a couple of pieces of fruit????????

Report
dogood · 01/07/2015 20:50

Now forgive if me if I sound daft, but the oats that a lot of people of prepping with yoghurt I assume IT IS just oats and yoghurt overnight and no water???

So - we tried the Iceland SW meatballs for tea tonight.

BLEEUUUURGH

They are NOT pleasant. They are over-processed (have the texture of a school sausage without any of the fun bits), over-spiced and just YUK.

We probably eat meatballs and pasta once a week (it's a really simple meal for DH to cook on one of my college nights), so it's going to be either count the syns for the Waitrose version my arse, at 2 syns a meatball that's not going to happen or I'm going to have to tap my best mate up for her "itsa spicy meatball" recipe.
