Question for you all .......

What has been the best thing so far about losing weight? And if you want to, tell us your total weight loss so far.....

ThanksThanksThanks

So.....I have lost 27.5lbs. Prefer saying my weight loss in lbs as it sounds better. Grin

Best thing is wearing nicer clothes and not leggings which, to me, are my fat girl clothes. Am now wearing jeans and size 12 tops and feel that I look better.

Am also loving the compliments from people.

You're half a pound away from two stone calzone ! Woohoo!

I've only been doing it a month but the best thing so far is how stupidly easy it is for me.

I'm honestly happy to have traded the 5:2 (which I loved but couldn't do anymore due to blood sugar problems) for this.

Yes, it costs a lot more as I'm eating five pieces of fruit a day and at least 4 vegetables but I'm genuinely finding it easy due to the 'free' food.

I tried slimming world about 18 years ago and couldn't get the hang of swopping between red and green days - just couldn't do it.

calzone · 28/05/2015 23:49

I did it years ago as well Laurie but could not 'get it.'

Slimming World is the easiest damn diet ever! SmileSmile

Have been stalking for a few days- please can I join? No clubs nearby so started on Wednesday on line. Never done slimming world- I don't consider myself too daft but it is quite a lot to get your head around?!! Particularly as I had been low carb high protein and fat dieting before.. So lots of cheese and butter and avocado etc, and no fruit ( bananas work of the devil) however it was making me feel bilious and grumpy. Once I can get my head round sp's hex's and syns the actual food seems quite easy?
Breakfast - weetabix with milk ( hex a and b)
Sugar - 2 syns(?)
Lunch- salmon sandwich on the run- am guessing 10 syns??
Supper - roast chicken and veg. 2 syns for coconut oil for frying.
This seems a frightening lot of syns....

cakeface16 · 29/05/2015 10:55

Calzone, its funny but I only am beginning to realise how much I was hiding all the time in every sense of the word. I felt so bloated and ashamed of my weight. Big loose jumpers, baggy knickers, no eye contact. I feel like I am emerging from a fog. I still have a long way to go but I am feeling a bit more like me. I'm even thinking of getting my hair highlighted again. I was blonde for years and years but have let it go a mousey brown and I feel the need for a change :-)

Alwaysrushing - welcome!

I think you are probably being a bit optimistic with 10 syns for your sambo, For instance a tesco red salmon and cucumber sambo on brown is 17 syns. you have to account for the butter too and the bread tends to be thick.

I tend to avoid bread etc at lunch. I usually eat a salad, sushi or leftovers from dinner. A baked potato with beans is free for example.

Roast chicken would be a good deal more than 2 syns unless you removed all the skin.

I don't mean to be negative but knowledge is power Wink

cakeface16 · 29/05/2015 10:57

Also you don't mention snacks. Lots of fresh fruit and veg between meals to keep you full is the key for me. That way i'm not starving going into dinner so I eat in a more controlled way. Carrot sticks, mange tout, etc keep me going

alwaysrushing · 29/05/2015 11:14

CRIPES!!!!! 17 for a sandwich ?
Not doing that again!!!
Thank you- all help much appreciated- it is a very different way of eating isn't it? Feel a bit uncomfortable about giving up my good fats ( hate low fat anything) and I was going to have an advocado at lunch before I looked them up ( eek) does anyone else struggle with this?
But not as uncomfortable as my jeans at the moment.

alwaysrushing · 29/05/2015 11:17

Do you know off hand what humous is? Makes those carrot sticks and mange touts a bit more palatable....

cakeface16 · 29/05/2015 11:25

Houmous is between 1.5 - 2.5 syns per level tbsp.

If you are on facebook there is a group called Syns allowed which I find amazing :www.facebook.com/groups/1403894753224037/

They have photo albums titled by food type such as a houmous album and they list all the main supermarket brands and the syns. So so handy.

It is essentially a low fat/ low carb diet but it really works so stick at it.

Ask here any time you're stuck and we can help. I would consider houmous a bit of a waste of syns personally. You could snack on sliced ham or chicken, protein is good for making you feel full, or nice fruit like berries. Its all about making the diet work for you!

LaurieFairyCake · 29/05/2015 11:44

There a syn free recipe on slimming world for hummus

FannyFanakapan · 29/05/2015 11:52

WoooHoooo, 2lb off, so net loss of 1/2 lb for 2 weeks. But on the way down again.

Total loss to date.....37lb. Go Me!!

Welcome alwaysrushing. take a look at this - basically you want to eat most of your meals with S and P foods, as these are good fruit and veg and good protein.

You can have 1 hex A (dairy) and 1 Hex B here every day - a healthy extra A would be eg 375ml skimmed milk or 25g cheese

Syns you have to watch - you can eat between 5 and 15 syns a day, or combine a couple of syn days to have a blow out (as long as you compensate the rest of the week. SO I will often have a 25 syn day, followed by a 5 syn day.

I used to think syns were just for treats, but have developed an appreciation for using them in everyday foods...pasta need a little olive oil and cheese!

TipsyandT0m · 29/05/2015 11:53

Lost half a pound this week. I don't mind though as had bbq food and lots alcohol on Saturday. Sunday was a bad day due to post alcohol carb craving.
Aside from chippy tea last night (after sw Blush) I will stick to plan this week.

AtAt · 29/05/2015 12:22

always hello!
I notice you mention sugar. If you swap to a free sweetner, you save your syns! Smile

alwaysrushing · 29/05/2015 12:28

Which do you use? For cereal I mean?

TheBooMonster · 29/05/2015 13:31

saradavies415 · 29/05/2015 14:47

Hi everyone well done to all who have lost this week last 3 days for me haven't been so good and I feel very angry with myself arghhhhh.my daughter hasn't been very well for last 3 days and has been up all night so when it comes to lunch and dinner cos I feel so tired just can't be bothered to cook so have just been grabbing anything hanging around
So Wednesday was
B- bannana and yogurt

L-pastie crisps and coffee

D-cooked partner boild ham mash and beans so after this just couldn't get my head around making my dinner so just had this with him

Thursday was
B-none

L-2small peters pasties ham roll 2 chocolate finger biscuits

D-gammon egg and chips with partner as again after cooking his couldn't be bothered with mine

And today so far
B-none

L-ready salted walkers extra crunchy
Sausage roll and some finger biscuits
I feel really disappointed with myself and guilty that I have ruined this week
I think I just need a good night sleep and a kick up the backside to get back on track

saradavies415 · 29/05/2015 14:56

Oh and also 3.20 am this morning 1 coffee and a few chocolate biscuits Blush

Slimmerforsummer · 29/05/2015 16:57

Lost 28lbs (Another 28 lbs to go I think) but I must admit I'm still not really seeing the loss. I had to get fitted for smaller bras and got back into my prepregnancy clothes which now fit or nearly fit.
But every time I look in the mirror I just see a fat girl.

Slimmerforsummer · 29/05/2015 17:03

That sounded more glum than I actually am about it!

Still on track for 100% week. Trying some new foods out.

My dd is sick too saradavies -this is the third day- and my DP is away so no respite. So glad we have a treadmill or I'd be going insane. I got a tesco delivery with mug shots and pre prepared pineapple. I know it isn't as nutrient rich as freshly cut stuff but that's just too much effort right now! Feeding her to sleep now ( maybe the extra breastfeeding I'm doing will help?!) then making dinner. Eldest being treated to a mcdonalds by my mum for good exam results. Mums going on holiday on Monday so giving the baby a wide berth!

Slimmerforsummer · 29/05/2015 17:05

Meant to say Sara, you can choose to eat better starting now. No need to wait til the morning. Have an extra portion of fruit? Walk up and down the stairs for 10 mins for some body magic?
