Sharontheodopolodous · 29/09/2024 19:31

I'd just found out I was pregnant (on the monday(
I woke up in agony (on the thursday)-one long pain in my back, pelvis and backside
Within 5 minutes I'd given birth and within the hour,I was in hospital

The baby is now 24 and has just made me a granny

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 29/09/2024 19:32

A swarm of wasps.

The nest turned out to be in the sash window box of our bedroom. One of them stung me and apparently if one stings within a certain distance of the nest they think the nest is under attack and go on the offensive. It was like something out of a horror film.

NotInMyFacex1000 · 29/09/2024 19:33

Well not at home but someone accidentally coming into the wrong apartment (mine). Saw this hand slowly come round the door and I screamed. Then heard a slurred "oh fuck so sorry love". I'd left it unlocked by accident, like a moron. I'm sorry for some of these posts. So sad to read.

ttcat37 · 29/09/2024 19:33

Husband to tell me the dog was dying.

PattiSmithsPattis · 29/09/2024 19:34

Ex bf strangling me.
Hedgehogs shagging in the garden sound like heavy breathers 😂
A different ex smacked me in the face whilst he (and I) were asleep. I cried with fright.
The thing that didn't wake me was the 87 hurricane. Despite next doors tree being lodged in our roof!

TwixOrDoubleDecker · 29/09/2024 19:35

In no particular order:

Phone call saying my mum had had a brain haemorrhage
Earthquake
Being stung by a wasp that was under the duvet

ilovepixie · 29/09/2024 19:36

Being woken up be a nurse while Sleeping in a chair beside my dying OH in hospital to be told he had passed away from cancer.

PurpleChrayn · 29/09/2024 19:36

A nurse waking me up to tell me my partner was passing away and that I should get up and sit with her.

IBegYourBiggestPardon · 29/09/2024 19:36

My now exh coming home pissed up and yanking the duvet cover off me and thumping me as hard as he could in my thigh to wake me up to have sex. I refused and was rewarded with hours of torture instead. I managed to lock myself in the toilet but he kicked the door down and started dragging me round the flat by my hair threatening to Chuck me outside naked if I didn't agree to have sex with him. Sadly that was the start of my abusive marriage and most of the time after that he would just force himself on me. If I tried to clamp my legs shut he would force his hand down and pinch the insides of my thighs as hard as he could. At around 19st I couldn't just push him off of me. Unfortunately it took me 3 years to get out of that marriage. On a lighter note though late DCAT gacking during the night was definitely the quickest way to have me flying out of bed and chucking him into the hallway to puke up on the laminate flooring instead of the carpet or duvet cover. I'd also wake daily to a claw or tooth jabbed into my head demanding his breakfast and his fat arse in my face after he'd settled back on the pillows after eating.

A ceiling came down on my bed during 1987 storms. I woke up spitting put plaster chunks & could see the sky through the massive hole in roof. Went down stairs, opened front door & the army was outside on the street: surreal
Otherwise, my Dd with Autism peeling my eyelids back / nose to nose: intense. Waking (dozing in hospital chair) to find Ds had been moved to high needs ward (& nobody told me ..)

I used to do that to my parents when I was a kid (the eyelids thing, not autistic but I guess just curious what they were up to under there 😆)

Sexyshrek · 29/09/2024 19:38

An enormous crash that literally shook the walls. Followed by a sleepy voice yelling "Come back ya cunt!".

My neighbour had addiction problems and was deep into the lifestyle. She had obviously pissed someone off so they threw those huge concrete breeze blocks through her windows in the middle of the night. Scared the hell out of me but she didn't seem bothered.

Ponderingwindow · 29/09/2024 19:39

My own scream

i was staying in employee housing, that included my boss for a few weeks as part of a work placement. Separate bedrooms but sound carried in the shared house. I had an intense dream where I apparently had to scream to survive / wake myself up. I screamed so loud and long that I woke everyone up. They thought I was being attacked.

I was young and shy and didn’t really understand that my migraines triggered lucid dreams yet. It completely soured my working relationship.

A cat miaow outside my bedroom door (I don't have a cat ) !! Opened the door and large cat was there Apparently drunk son had lured it home with him

EmeraldDreams73 · 29/09/2024 19:44

Some of these must have been terrifying
:(

My most memorable one was gross. I was asleep in ex-MIL's spare room (single bed, xh and kids were on airbeds in the other room). Dd2 was just under 2, still in nappies. I woke up to a revolting smell right under my nose. Dd2 chirped "mama, I did a poo!". The poo was on her finger, which was 2 millimetres from my nose. 😖I've never moved so fast to get it away from me/not on anything else/get her cleaned up.

But thats one of the best things that can wake you up

LyndaSnellsSniff · 29/09/2024 19:44

Horrible man hammering on the door at 2am wanting to buy drugs. I told him he had the wrong house and that the local drug dealer lived 2 doors down.

Ineedanewsofa · 29/09/2024 19:45

A bat doing laps of the bedroom ceiling!
The incredibly bright lights of a hotel corridor after sleepwalking out of my room not wearing an awful lot…

SkeletonBatsflyatnight · 29/09/2024 19:45

Gunfire and Cannons. The country we were in was somewhat unstable politically at the time and so my first thought was a coup. The tanks outside the window didn't help either.

Turns out it was a military exercise and the hotel did cheap big breakfasts for the military and police.

Haroldwilson · 29/09/2024 19:46

So sorry about that @IBegYourBiggestPardon Glad he's your ex now.

Tiddlywinkly · 29/09/2024 19:46

Foxes

Or in bed ill and home alone, rolling face first into cat sick on the pillow next to me. That was bad. Had to clean it up myself too.

ButtSurgery · 29/09/2024 19:47

Lots of painful awakenings because of bastard migraines, but cluster headaches at 02:41 every morning for a month was utterly horrific.

I woke screaming once, convinced I'd been stabbed in my sleep because nothing else could explain the pain in my back and arse. Nope. Sciatica aged 23.

Although a memorable one was waking to someone banging on my 3rd floor bedroom window about 2am. There was a fire escape out the flat there. It was also the day a man had been sentenced for murder in the flat below me, so I was convinced it was connected with that. Took me nearly 20mins to unfreeze in terror and crawl out the bedroom to phone 999. Got an almost immediate police response as I heard them yelling at someone in the lane.... it turned out to be my shag piece who had decided to play Romeo, and somehow thought this would be romantic. Police call handler asked if I wanted to make a complaint about him - I asked them to tell him to use the front door and the doorbell next time! 😂😂

Snowdrops17 · 29/09/2024 19:47

A phone call to say my younger brother had passed away

TigerRag · 29/09/2024 19:48

CherryBombe · 29/09/2024 18:21

My cats bum hole in my face.

This morning he woke me up with his foot in my mouth

I once woke up to find my parents dog stood on me, staring at me

4 hours previously I got woken up by dog #2 snoring

From that day on I refuse to sleep on the sofa. My parents just laughed at me

I stayed with my cousin when I ran the London marathon. I slept in the same room as their baby who at the time was on oxygen. I can't believe how loud that is. (Or how loud he snores!)

80smonster · 29/09/2024 19:49

Rats! Gross.

AnneLovesGilbert · 29/09/2024 19:49

The strong smell of BO, when I opened my eyes there was a man leaning over me who’d broken into my hotel room.
