Feed #1 - well, it should be. I lifted DS out of the Moses basket as he had started to wake and cry, unswaddled him and laid him directly infront of me on the bed. Started to faff with all the pillows and whilst doing so he has fallen back asleep. Full snoring and everything! I'm now trapped as I can't lay down because he is right in the middle of the bed. I'll never get him back into the basket still asleep. Oh what to do?!?!

As for the DH and his help, he is awful with a newborn. Our DS seems to spend most of his awake time crying. He has meds for reflux, although I still don't know if that's the cause of his issues. But seems to spend at least 90% of his awake time crying. DH has no patience with him at all. It drives me mad. He's great with our DD who is almost two. So whilst he's still off he gets her up at 7am, does all her feeding, bum changing and playing with her. But he doesn't do much more with DS than the bedtime bath and bottle feed. He then settles him for the night while I pump and get a couple of hours sleep in. When he goes back to work I won't get much help on his work days though. He carries a gun at work so has huge responsibility to be alert and awake. He works a 12 hour shift and we live 1.5 hours travel time from his base. So that's at least 15 hours awake and out the house if the traffic is kind and no forced overtime.
I also resent his career chioice little at the moment. But since it's the same as mine (albeit I don't have a gun) when I go back it will be the same for him. Only when he is stuck at home all day with two children at least they will be 9mobths and 2.5 years. No where near as sleep depriving and hard to entertain as a newborn!!

But only because dh brought ds up to me at 1am. I think he felt a little sympathetic as a result of all the shenanigans with dd earlier. Bless him. Dh does not carry a gun for work, but it’s a manual kind of work and he can be working in dangerous places so I am concerned he isn’t getting enough sleep some days.

I’ve sort of given up on the lying down feed at the moment. Tried it the other night and found it was harder to shift him sideways than to put him down after feeding in my arms.
Generally though, he has 3 feeds in the night: midnight, 2:30 and 5am. The 5am feed I tend to feed lying down and keep him in bed with me until I get up st 7am ish.

My ds is 11 weeks

Feed #2 here. DH took feed #1 with a bottle of expressed milk whilst I pumped. Was just tired. DS (now three weeks) has been a velcro hungry / cluster feeding baby and the sleep deprivation kicked in again.

DH meant to be preparing top up bottle now but has fallen back asleep. Grrrr. How can he sleep through all of DS’s noise?

DS is 2 weeks old (but was 4 weeks premature).

Gah. DS woke at 12.45 for a feed and was asleep again by 1.10. Knew it was too good to be true when he woke half an hour later :( I have s feeling this is going to be a sleepless night....

Hungry.
All this talk of feeding is making me hungry. Could eat a cheesestring but that would mean getting out of bed and I can’t be bothered.

I’ve calmed down from earlier rant about dd not going to sleep and making noise. I’ll pick it up with her in the morning. What really annoys me is that she knows she is stepping over the line and just testing us. Well. Test away.
She says ‘sorry’ each time and I ask her why she’s saying sorry, and she tells me it’s because she’s being loud and waking me up. So she knows exactly what she’s doing when she does it 2 minutes later 🙄
Right. Going to try and get some sleep. Ds, if it’s a good night, will be waking for another feed around 4:30. Let’s see!

hashtagtired - intitalkybget what you mean about feeling guilty when you tell them off, but still annoyed and justified in doing so! That's a game I play with my DD often,

Age update - DD almost two (t-1- days) although I don't want her to grow up any faster - she's at a lovely age!
DS - 5 weeks Tuesday. I could do with him growing up just a little bit. Say 6 months?? Is that fair?

We're cosleeping from the beginning of the night as DD was sick in the cot. Something she hadn't done for ages.
And there was me thinking we could stop her reflux meds

Hi just checking in, DS 7 week’s old, just done first night feed. He’s FF so DP did all night feeds over weekend, bit of a shock to the system to be up again doing it. Also just came in first period after birth, maybe explains why I’ve been so ragey last few days! Haven’t missed that...!

Feed #2 here, propped up with all.the pillows!. DS is 15 weeks. He wouldnt resettle after last feed and didn't fancy feeding laying down! So here we are. Need a wee too 🙈

DS did half an hour on the boob then fell asleep. No chance of taking his top up bottle.

Place your bets now on how long until he wakes up demanding his second course. 😔

Feed #1 was a midnight but I had been feeding lo almost non stop since 5.10 pm. I've just checked my little book and he was on my boobs for 18 times between 5.10 and midnight. That shutely can't be right? He's only doing 15 minutes per noob bit if not careful he'll fall asleep so is he using me as a dummy? By midnight he seemed really hungry and i nearly caved in to give him a little formula just so he could have a sleep (and so could I). He's just slept 2 hrs 20 minutes and we're on feed #2.
Oh and today he's a week old

@Sakura03 totally normal and these cluster feeds won’t last forever.

I’ve noticed ds has around. 45 is minute sleep cycle. He will either wake at 1.5 hours or 2.5 ish hours. I have a bit of a tickly cough so I think I woke him. My fault! I don’t think I really slept in between. Was just going to cuddle him because he looked like he had trapped wind and he was drifting off, but he woke again so I just thought I’d feed him because that’s what he was asking for.

Does anyone here do online supermarket shopping? If so, who with? We used to be Tesco but dh wanted to switch to Sainsbury’s for the nectar points. I find the Sainsbury’s app really annoying and slow and Tesco’s was pretty good. First Sainsbury’s Delivery tomorrow so I’ll see what they are like. They’ve already told me that they don’t have one of my favourite items in stock 🙄

Bought a chicco next to me crib thinking it would solve all issues in the world but actually means that my incredibly noisy DD is now just snorting and snoring directly in my ear canal keeping me very much awake!!
She’s 5 weeks and 2 days... Nearly at the miraculous 6 weeks mark where it starts to get easier (or so I am told!)

Sakura03 I’m no expert but in my experience it can last a couple of days. Your milk would have come in by now and I guess your dc is just tanking up.
Keep an eye on the number of wet nappies and dirty nappies and weight of dc. ‘They’ day that you can’t overfeed a bf baby. If he has wet and dirty nappies and putting on weight then all is great!
The cluster feeding thing is really common, particularly in the evenings. Days and nights may still not mean that much to him, but soon the evening cluster feed may be a sign of longer sleep stretches at night.
My ds cluster feeds occasionally in the evenings (but unfortunately for me that bears no relation to the sleep situation!).

In your night feeds tonight, take a good look at your dc’s. Aren’t they just so cute?

Feed 2.5 now. Have put DH on duty as shattered. Glad he is not working just now.

Just had feed #1 so not too bad. Think we both managed about 3 hrs since we hit the hay.

DS is 5 weeks and is the cutest dictator I’ve ever seen.

@HashtagTired we use Sainsbury’s delivery. It’s the only supermarket in the bit of London I live and I’m a nectar hoarder. We never buy meat/veg on the online order just store cupboard things.

@sakura - keep on going with the cluster feeding, baby is putting in their order for Tomorrow! It's hard work but doesn't last forever, you're doing great 😊

I accidentally woke DS as I had to go for a wee 🙈 so we are feeding...again. First night in a while he hasn't screamed the house down for no apparent reason though. DH will be happy as he has not been disturbed yet. So he will hopefully have ave got his 8 houra by the alarm I have forgotten what 8 hours feels like!

Pah! 8 hours? Who needs 8 hours sleep??!
