I’m getting really fed up of my posts being deleted.

I say nothing inflammatory. No rascism, no sexism, no xenophobia. Because that is not me, I would never.

So why are my posts being deleted? I’m adding to the discussion. Sometimes I may question if a pp is being deliberately stupid… is that a legitimate reason to be deleted?

How thin skinned are we supposed to be to use this website? It’s becoming pointless even bothering to make a post.

I made a genuine post about about how knife crime is a serious problem within major cities. Low & behold, it’s been deleted. I made some genuine points in the post, ones that could lead to a positive discussion. I’m starting to give up on MN, no other website is policed to this extent.

I agree that hate crimes should be deleted. Of course. But I have done nothing of the sort.

Youre meant to attack the post, not the poster. So you could write "i disagree with the post'

OP, (hand hold because you're getting a hard time on here) I understand you and I agree. This site is often like walking on egg shells on a minefield. It is a very hair trigger interventionist site. I am a member on many message boards and have been so over the years, and real bunfights are allowed and far more argy bargy than on here. The other sites I'm on the mods never ever intervene unless it's something illegal or racist or it's a personal threat. In fact, the dobber would be banned by the mods on other boards. Here though it is extremely interventionist. We're all adults here, no one should be reporting anything unless it's illegal or racist. This forum is like no other I've ever been on (and I've managed a few myself too), it can be really exhausting just phrasing a post. And I won't even start on the politically correct stuff about 'mental' etc (just roll my eyes in the back of my head).

It brings to mind the song 'the world seems difficult' by Mental As Anything. I wonder if they'll have to change their name now? (eyeroll)

It was genuinely a turn of phrase. Maybe not one used in every household in Ireland, but it was in mine. As I’m typing it, I’m hearing it in my head. But obviously it’s not read that way.

I do feel like I’ve been sentenced to a terrible crime I didn’t commit. I feel the online life is not for me. Which is a shame as I feel a lot of you guys are wonderful. But fucking hell, you go in hard.

Mental As Anything wasn't a phrase aimed at anyone through. I've been mentally ill for my entire life, medicated too (I know!). I'm mental as anything, crazy, bonkers, stupid in some ways and highly intelligent in others.

It's when you use those phrases to insult another person that things tend to go awry.
You can't call me mental, whether it be as anything or as nothing. You don't know me, therefore you would be insulting me.
Unless of course, you know better. You don't though.
