I’m getting really fed up of my posts being deleted.

I say nothing inflammatory. No rascism, no sexism, no xenophobia. Because that is not me, I would never.

So why are my posts being deleted? I’m adding to the discussion. Sometimes I may question if a pp is being deliberately stupid… is that a legitimate reason to be deleted?

How thin skinned are we supposed to be to use this website? It’s becoming pointless even bothering to make a post.

I made a genuine post about about how knife crime is a serious problem within major cities. Low & behold, it’s been deleted. I made some genuine points in the post, ones that could lead to a positive discussion. I’m starting to give up on MN, no other website is policed to this extent.

I agree that hate crimes should be deleted. Of course. But I have done nothing of the sort.

You should email mumsnet to discuss it if you don’t understand. If you are basically calling posters stupid, then yes, mumsnet will see it as a personal attack.

Personally I think mumsnet should delete more and on the rare occasion I’ve been deleted, I can say I’ve deserved it. 🤣

It’s annoying if I’m being deleted for that one sentence. I’m often adding, what I think, to be a legitimate part of the argument.
I’m never deliberately insulting or personal.

Are you stupid? is rhetorical and is a way of calling someone thick. It's deliberately inflammatory and insulting.

Well perhaps I am in the wrong. It’s was never meant as an insult or personal attack. It’s something that is thrown into conversation to make someone reconsider their stance.

I would genuinely never report someone if they asked me if I was ‘stupid’.

Honestly, in nearly 15 years I don't think I've ever had a post deleted, and I've been a part of many a heated discussion. To have this happening repeatedly makes it sounds very much like a you problem.

Right. Fair enough, I accept the turn of phrase can be insulting. And I apologise for that, I really do.
It’s something that is said flippantly within my family but I appreciate it doesn’t come across well written down.

But does that really warrant the entire post to be deleted? I raised some important points I feel. I was never intending to cause offence. If I had been racist, sexist or xenophobic, then I’d understand. But surely as adults we don’t find the word stupid so offensive?

I'm interested where (approximately) this place is, as everywhere else it's deemed to be insulting and a personal attack.

I see it as a North v South issue.

Where I’m from we call a spade a spade and will be blunt, but perfectly honest and clear.

However, a lot of southerners take offence as they’d rather ‘tell little white lies’ than actually speak honestly with someone and tell them what the problem really is.

Luckily, just like in real life, we can choose to ignore them. 😂

If it is only one phrase ...'are you stupid' which is getting you deleted then make your points without preceding them with this phrase. Simple! If you still get deleted then you need to look at the tone of your arguments. And yes .. the phrase ' are you stupid' is rude. It makes a mockery of the other person's argument before you present your own point of view. This may be acceptable within your own family in the course of discussions where you know each other well and maybe all equally feel free to use this phrase, but in general discussion with those you don't know it is poor form. Derogatory and not within the realms of respectful, polite differences of opinion.

Just move on…sometimes people want a debate without drama and being called stupid, if you want a post/debate taken seriously remove emotions from it before just posting the first thing that comes to mind

I think we can all see what the problem is. Mumsnet don’t always get it right, but I’m as sure as I can be, that they’re getting it spot on with this poster. 👀
