It's definitely useful for quoting other posts but I agree, people quoting the original post is ridiculous.

I wish we had the option to cut out irrelevant bits of the quote like on other sites - no need to quote paragraphs when you only want to reference one specific line in your reply. I just type the line out instead but that’s sort of going against the point of having the quotation option!

Agreed. Every time I'm on mumsnet I want to start a thread saying this. I only haven't because I expected too many people to find it hilarious to quote my OP in their comment.

Agreed! If you just want to reply to one or two lines, copy and paste is what you need. Maybe this isn't easy on all phones but I have a basic Android model and I can do it. Super easy on a laptop.

Oh God yes ! It's extremely annoying when the first reply quotes the op, like.. to go to the trouble of finding that quote button and then reply with what is usually the shortest reply in history wrecks my head.

It also makes me think those who do quote the OP are a tad hard of thinking and subsequently skim over their post.

I tend to use the Mumsnet app on my mobile, sometimes I think there's a glitch as the same post keeps repeating but it turns out it's lots of posters quoting the OP. V annoying and unnecessary, especially when it's a long post to begin with.

Yes agreed! Also stop people resurrecting threads from years ago and replying like it's still relevant now.

I agree with the OP's request.

There are a lot of issues with the app that make it difficult for people with different issues to use, which I have raised numerous times and even had a phone consultation about a ‘new and improved’ version of the app.

This was over a year ago and still there is nothing.

If we had a functioning app this wouldn’t be an issue.

It doesn't need to be quotable, full stop. It's at the top of every page, surely that's the only function needed? It's so annoying and I've got no idea why so many posters are fond of doing so. Especially when they then just add a one line response!
