UPDATE FROM MNHQ - new edit feature

We’re pleased to announce that we’re introducing an edit feature.

Historically, we’ve been hesitant to introduce edits because of concerns that historical revisions could cause confusion.

We’re mitigating this by implementing both a time limit (you’ll have a short period of time to edit your post) and ensuring the edit history will be visible to all. The edit feature is designed for minor corrections, such as fixing spelling mistakes and grammar errors that don't change the context of your post. It should not be used to change the overall meaning or intention of your original message. We’re adding a new report option so you can let us know if you think anyone is abusing the feature.

To edit your post:
Select the ‘...’ menu on the post you want to edit
Select ‘Edit’
Fix any mistakes
Select ‘Update’ to save your changes

To see the edit history of a post:
Select the ‘Edited’ label on the post

As some of you may know, we’re currently working on rebuilding our mobile Talk app so app users can access features that are available on our website. Whilst this work is underway, users won’t be able to edit their posts in the app, but they will be able to see when a post has been edited and view the edit history. iOS users will need to make sure they’ve updated to the latest version. The update for Android will be coming imminently and we’ll let you know when it’s available.

We know it’s frustrating for app users at the moment - the rebuild will be a huge improvement but it’s a huge job and is taking time. We really appreciate your patience.

We hope you find the edit button useful - we’ve added edit guidance to our Talk Guidelines, but if you’ve any questions or problems, please add to the thread.

Why do some people explain why they’ve edited their post, ie ‘edited to correct typo’?

Other posters can see the editing history so there’s no need…or am I missing something?

It's standard etiquette on some other forums so they're just used to it I guess.

Still not on the android app... So many features aren't. Who does your app design? Ridiculous

Hello! For those of you asking, we’re in the process of rebuilding our mobile apps and are aiming to release them fully in the next couple of months. The experience on iOS and Android will be almost identical in the new app, and it will include many of the features you’ve requested in this thread.

We’re currently testing a beta version of the app to ensure it works technically and to gather feedback ahead of the launch. If you'd like to sign up to test, you can download the beta by visiting this link. You’ll need to download an app called TestFlight to access it, but there are full instructions when you visit the link. If you’re on an Android device, please send us an email to [email protected] with the subject “Join the New App Beta” and include the Gmail address associated with your Google Play account. We need this email to give you access.

Sometimes I do it out of habit as I post on another forum where you can edit but not see the history, maybe others do the same

esp as it does the things I’ve moaned about

only messages to sort out now on the app and I will be a happy blondes

how/where do I give feedback or is that at a later date
