Moderation Sex Board

onirgellep · 13/04/2023 23:06

Back in February Justine* committed to an urgent review of moderation of the Sex Board subsequent to the considerable concerns mainly arising from the longstanding Sex Chat thread

Unsurprisingly, issues continue

Would it be possible to have an update on the progress of the review?

And hear when do you anticipate it being completed and the new moderation put into action?

Thank you

I'm afraid I'm unable to link Justine's post on the thread References to Underage Sex on the Sex Board* page 13

@TheShellBeach could you please copy my original post here please? Because unless my peri brain fog has completely taken over, I was suggesting potential chatters go to the other site.

Surplus2requirements · 14/04/2023 15:21

I don't want the conversation shut down, that's why I don't make personal insults which result in a shitfest that leaves HQ little choice.

As far as moderation goes I'd say it was working well, a thread was posted with an inappropriate link, it was swiftly removed and deleted.

Well done HQ

Christ, give it a rest, don't tell people how they should pr should not react to stuff. You made your point, move on.

That poster hasn’t told her how to react. She’s only said what she had found works. Totally different.

So maybe you give it a rest with your silly posts that are inaccurate. 🙄😂

Don’t do that, you will be reported and deleted as I’m sure @Mermaidparades knows.

Mermaidparades · 14/04/2023 15:24

Sorry, no I don’t want to get anyone in trouble. Can you send it to me please via DM?

I think well done posters that reported
it. With the current moderation, mumsnet wouldn’t have known about it without them, better moderation is needed. Links like that and hook up threads shouldn’t make it to the board that’s part of a parenting site.

I wouldn’t advise doing that either. Sending screenshots of a thread with a link to incest snd teenage sex to another poster? Even if they’ve asked for it, it’s not advisable. Bloody hell @Mermaidparades It’s not appropriate.

Mermaidparades · 14/04/2023 15:31

I was asking for the words from my original post. It would take 2 seconds to blank out the name of the website.

It could potentially put that persons account at risk, it’s up to them but I wouldn’t do it.

Mermaidparades · 14/04/2023 15:34

That’s fine. Let’s continue to accuse me of setting up a hook up thread then!

More self-sabotage happening in real time ---> stop telling me off you big bullies

You did use a title that rather hinted at that as it was very similar to the previous hook up threads. Then posters used it for that so obviously they thought so too. But let’s not start that again.

Better moderation would have prevented the current situation, let’s hope mumsnet choose to do that.

  1. You were a frequent contributor to Sex Chat version2.0/hook up thread
  2. You started another thread 3-4 weeks ago it became a hook up thread
  3. You started a Sex Chat thread w the vile link you cba to see if it was okay a few days ago it rapidly became a hook up thread

What aren't you able to see about your own behaviour?

No. I am not posting a copy of your OP as it contains a link to a site which celebrates incest and teen sex.

As you well know.

Mermaidparades · 14/04/2023 16:01

@onirgellep you really know a lot about my posting history! I’m flattered, or am I alarmed at how stalky that appears?

Maybebe · 14/04/2023 16:04

@HeartbreakHouse

"There will be plenty of people who like the sex topic yet not like hook up threads or links to incest/teen sex or obvious perv threads."

Then they can report them?? Surely we're adult enough to not need MN to protect us from things that we find distasteful.

Nope I've got a good memory and you personally remind me again and again and again. and .......................

OP posts:
Maybebe · 14/04/2023 16:06

@horridjobescapee

"That's not quite the case. I find the links to deviant websites abhorrent and since mumsnet is post-moderated, unless people look and report, the links threads and nsfw threads including the various iterations of the hook up thread, will stand (since the regulars on the sex board don't necessarily report threads like that)."

You find things abhorrent, then report them. I'm sorry but I wouldn't look at the sex topic while I was at work or with a child looking over my shoulder. The clue is in the title of the thread.

Jeez, if that is true that is pretty bad. You would have to wonder what the motivation is behind that? There as so many places online as the OP of that thread discovered where you can have sex chat, why the obsession with bringing it to mumsnet? I'm really surprised that with this pattern of behaviour mumsnet don't think banning is in order. It would really make you wonder what someone on the sex board has to do in order to be banned? What is the point in having rules if it is ok for someone to break them on purpose multiple times?

Mermaidparades · 14/04/2023 16:15

@CrotchetyCrocheting well that’s the problem, it isn’t true.

  1. I was not a frequent contributor! I posted a couple of times.
  2. i started a chat thread, like they have in Weight Loss or the Reading sections, just for chat.
  3. Yesterday’s thread I was trying to tell people the name of another site that they could chat on.
horridjobescapee · 14/04/2023 16:16

@Maybebe where did I indicate I was looking at the threads at work or whilst a young child was anywhere near me?

horridjobescapee · 14/04/2023 16:18

also. In the statement thread mumsnet said that links that were nsfw would not be allowed.

I reported on that basis.

Hmm

horridjobescapee · 14/04/2023 16:16

@Maybebe where did I indicate I was looking at the threads at work or whilst a young child was anywhere near me?

You didn't. I meant that surely a lot (if not all) threads in the sex topic are NSFW? Isn't that the nature of the sex board? I might ask a question about erection problems, lack of libido, a kink that a partner had proposed that I didn't understand, a desire to explore my sexuality - I wouldn't discuss that at work.
