New feature - save threads & posts

Hi all,

During the course of our website upgrade we did a lot of user testing with Mumsnetters - one of the things they said they'd like was to be able to save interesting threads and posts to come back to later, so we’ve built a new save feature (on the website only for now) and you’ll soon see the save option appear on posts.

There are now 4 ways to curate the content you want to find again or be notified about:

• I’m on - threads you’ve commented on
• I started - threads you started
• I’m watching - threads you want to see updates on and receive notifications about
• Saved - threads & posts you’ve saved to come back to later

And we’ve grouped these under the umbrella term ‘My lists’ which you can access via the blue navigation bar at the bottom of the screen on mobile or via the ‘My Mumsnet’ menu (the person icon) in the top right on desktop or mobile when you’re logged in. We hope this will help new users understand how to use these features.

We’ve also slightly rejigged the design so you can save, share and report posts more easily.

We hope you find it useful and as always we welcome feedback!

Unanswered Threads never works for me any more

But I still don't understand who shares. MN is anonymous, why would you share details that would possibly out you? Why would you share every single reply?

I assume people want to share individual posts to sound klaxons on twitter or something.

Oh it's awful. It's so untidy. I don't mind change normally but this is awful. And what's the share button all about? Who we sharing with and why?

Honestly it’s awful. Makes my eyes hurt scrolling through a thread now. Just leave the bookmark and stick the rest of the stuff in the 3 dots.

I LOVE being able to save threads. I was bookmarking threads on my own previously. Bit agreed, please remove the buttons below every post. It’s an eyesore!

Please don't remove all the buttons on the desktop site! Well, you can remove all but "add message" I guess.

@KatyMumsnet -I can't see the wood for the trees-
I can't see the comments for the footers!

I hate this, the bottom of every post takes up so much of the screen and really wrecks the flow of threads now. Can't those options go in the dots? I keep pressing save by accident (another leftie!)
It's also running slower.

The addition of Save, Share, Report visible after every post creates visual clutter and interrupts smooth reading down the page from post to post.
Why not nest them inside the Three Dots drop down menu?
I can't imagine hoor where I would use the Share button. I wouldn't email a single post to a friend. I'd be more likely to share a link to the whole thread (but still highly unlikely)

The save share etc under each post is bloody annoying. Makes it very messy to read. Please put back to how it was

I really don't understand why they haven't done that. How often are people saving and sharing posts that it needs to be visible under each post, but the well used quote feature is hidden?

Come on MNHQ - listen to your product and remove the clutter!

Trying to read a thread it like trying to walk across a room where someone has strewn Lego across the carpet.
In bare feet.

Bookmark and Quote are features that you should be encouraging people to use, as they aid readability of the threads.

Ugh. The new stuff adds so much clutter. Please think again MN!

I hate this. It's not intuitive, it looks terrible and it makes the whole MN experience slow and unwieldy. Please get rid of it MN.

Since yeasterday i have had trouble posting on the usual thread I am on. This is a test to see if this works here.

And that is so strange- because I haven't been able to post on the Doctors thread since yesterday- yet this worked straight away!

Question...if you saveapost or thread and either is deleted are they still saved under the lists page? Ie can we still see them?

Just 4 lines of actual posts on my whole screen, this is why the update is so ill thought out.
