I missed these but it is an important topic

antipodeancanary · 28/11/2022 18:01

It is important!

BernardBlacksMolluscs · 28/11/2022 18:01

and it's pure ignorance to dismiss this as racism

so disappointing

I read an article recently on the issues Germany face due to this. Would this post be deleted even though media outlets and researchers etc are able to discuss it

UrsulaPandress · 28/11/2022 18:03

I wrote to my MP after the NYE incidents in Germany and she wrote back basically accusing me of being a racist bigot. And she crossed me off her mailing list.

Looking at you Debbie Abrahams.

Shut up women.

Set some clear rules and don't hide behind spirit of the site.

Three threads have already gone and from what I saw people were bending over to be even handed and respectful.

I'd be interested in the answer.

ticktickticktickBOOM · 28/11/2022 18:10

I'd be interested to discuss if there is any remedial work done with people joining our society if they are from a country that has historical and deeply held views about the roles of women as 'lesser' people. Or do we not, as a country, acknowledge at all that this could be problematic?

Pictograph · 28/11/2022 18:11

I agree OP. I read one of the threads and thought that it was an important discussion to have. I was surprised that it was deleted.

Agree, the thread should not have been deleted.

Hi all

We had some concerns about the intentions of that poster. Sorry it wasn't clear - we've edited our deletion message now. Please feel free to continue the discussion and we will moderate for anything that breaks talk guidelines.

Apologies, also, for removing the TAATs. Flowers

You know someone will come back at you, so I will - no need to bring religion into it. Otherwise you need to mention other religions too. Hindu, Buddhist, Sikh. Christian too. It's not confined to Muslims. It's cultural and has its roots in the false narrative peadalled in some countries that Western women are all 'up for it'. Education needs to start in those countries, in their schools and villages.

This thread is just looking to still up trouble. Sounds like a Daily Express headline

roarfeckingroarr · 28/11/2022 18:19

We have to be able to discuss our legitimate fears for the safety of women and girls without being called bigots or have to caveat whataboutery re all men.

Yes the problem is men and male violence
However the problem is especially bad when men from cultures that don't value women as equals are thrust en masse into British towns / cities.

Onnabugeisha · 28/11/2022 18:20

One idea I have is a Life in U.K. class that all immigrants aged 12+ should attend. It would be about our culture, etiquette, social mores.

We already have a Life in U.K. test to apply for settlement. So why not a class you take within the first year here?

Itisbetter · 28/11/2022 18:21

It’s not “other cultures” though is it? It’s specific “other cultures”. If you want to discuss something name it and own it, don’t pussyfoot around the issue you say is there and needs shedding light on.

So there are some things that happen that we shouldn't talk about?

Why is that?

as a poster said above, better than I can

I agree. This is a very important issue. The U.K is being forced to absorb tens of thousands of additional men from countries & cultures fundamentally different to our own. The implications of this for British women should be a permitted topic for discussion on MN, of all places.
