BernardBlacksMolluscs · 28/11/2022 17:59

I thought the threads were largely honest and respectful

There are marginally more women than men in the UK who were born in another country 51% to 49%. Why is this a "men" issue? Brexit has led (for instance) to more Indians than Poles being granted visas- are you raising that as a concern?

Stickmansmum · 28/11/2022 20:10

The problem is that most of you ARE using the race of these men to ask the government to treat them all as potential criminals. That is racism.

I understand why. And I don’t have a solution but I do think clear training on the laws and cultural values and expectations for ALL immigrants would be fair.

CarefreeMe · 28/11/2022 20:11

did you have a specific question?

I asked you the question in my post.

You started a thread about large amounts of men coming into the UK from other cultures.

So as I said is it all foreign men or just the ones with a low class (income/education)?

But that is what is being suggested? No one has suggested exempting anyone?

We don't really need them in the UK unless they are skilled as far as I am concerned, it's going to cause huge problems in the long run

I didn't actually

I started a thread asking how it can be discussed

lots of women (including you apparently) want to talk about this and were being repeatedly censored. I asked MNHQ how the conversation could be had

your question makes rude and insulting assumptions about my position. try again

Hypocritical much? 😂

yes

I see a number of posters making 'you're all racist' assumptions that just aren't true

@Stickmansmum , I don't think anyone has said on this thread that the government should treat men as criminals on the basis of race (because that would be fucking mental)

I work next to one of the hotels. It's all men, most keep themselves to themselves but the odd few are frightening.

Security walk us to our cars/bus stop or we will bd harassed

I live in a refugee settlement area, in all honesty the biggest issue seems to be suspicion from locals and the fact they' roam the streets ' (( they roam the streets to ease boredom, they can't work and have no money. ))

They haven't done anything to anyone and have been here a few years now.......my bigger issue is the fact that Ukrainian refugees were cosseted, Given the immediate right to work, they've had special days out and meet ups to integrate. World's apart from how these young none white men are treated who are also fleeing war. And who are also somebodies son.

anniegun · 28/11/2022 20:19

Can you be specific about which cultures you think are composed of "dangerous men"? Indians, Pakistanis, Poles, Irish or Germans? They are the largest non UK born populations

GoonerGirl5231 · 28/11/2022 20:22

If you want to start a reasonable discussion, maybe post a question that isn't inflammatory and racist in tone. The question at the start of this thread insinuates the vast majority of men granted immigration status in the UK are dangerous to the communities they now live among. Where's the proof of that?

HomerDancing · 28/11/2022 20:22

BernardBlacksMolluscs · 28/11/2022 18:01

and it's pure ignorance to dismiss this as racism

so disappointing

Hugely agree

This thread is just looking to still up trouble. Sounds like a Daily Express headline

Rubbish. It’s a very important topic that needs wider discussion.

Why are you being so difficult?

You started a thread to discuss issues, yet you’re being pretty aggressive in your replies like me or other posters are singling you out but you are the one that’s created the thread.

Your thread title is about large numbers of men coming in to the UK from other cultures.

So I’m wondering what your views are - considering it’s your thread.

So…
Is it all foreign men?

And is it just foreign men from a certain class or would it be ok if they all earned over £30k a year?

What about Freddie Mercury for example, he worked as a baggage handler at Heathrow airport with a bunch of other foreign men.
So would he have been ok or not?

Right there 👆

That poster you quoted gave you a clear question. You responded with the above. Pure aggression, you completely disregarded the question and clearly looking for an argument/reaction. Goading.

can you please explain what was racist about the tone of the question?

frankly I view a large part of the problem as the fact that we have large groups of unattached young men without the grounding affect of family and who are not allowed to keep busy by working

does that make me a racist?

@CarefreeMe also said this when someone asked what the thread was about

To stop refugees coming into this country as ‘foreign men are a danger to females’.

a stupidly goady resonse

why does people talking about this make you so uncomfortable that you have to be rude to shut it down?

OP posts:
lifeturnsonadime · 28/11/2022 20:29

If I started a thread saying all foreign women are an issue because they agree with FGM and are a danger to females, I would be completely wrong and racist.

And rightly so. But NOT ONE person has said that all foreign males are an issue. So it's a false equivalence.

because your tone has been rude from the get go:

To stop refugees coming into this country as ‘foreign men are a danger to females’.

you sound like you have relevant and interesting things to say on this. but I'll never know what they are because you're too busy trying to close down the conversation by implying everyone else is racist. heaven knows why

OP posts:
ingenvillvetavardukoptdintroja · 28/11/2022 20:31

I thought a lot of the grooming gangs who'd been convicted were born and raised in the UK, not recent refugees? Certainly the case in Bristol. All educated here.

But it isn't racist and goady it is simply asking to talk about an issue that arises.

Why don't you think that women should be able to talk about an issue that affects them?

Summerhillsquare · 28/11/2022 20:32

You're awfully defensive considering you're not a racist, OP.

EmmaAgain22 · 28/11/2022 20:34

It might be best to carry on the discussion with those concentrating on the actual topic. No point letting people create a bun fight.

I imagine a lot of us are immigrants, children of immigrants, married to immigrants as per the deleted threads. I don't feel the need to attach other labels to men who cause trouble.
