What is it with all these threads being deleted??

Every day now there seems to be a thread deleted on aibu - it's the only section I'm really on, but pretty much every day lately I'll see a thread, read it, then return to it later to get an update and it's been deleted. I've been on Mumsnet since 2009 and threads were rarely deleted until recently , this last year or so it seems to happen so much. Are more people just trying to troll or wind us up, or what's the reason behind this huge increase in deletions?

Whaaaaaaaa. I just clicked on all the threads in my watched list and they all said deleted. What is happening???????

They're scared of losing their advertisers so they delete anything that might appear to he controversial.

Yes, I think this , coupled with the fact that there have been a few daft threads that resulted in a pile on and the OP has decided to delete.

Funny days...

Increased incidences of 1) trolling, and 2) assholery. There’s definitely something in the air. I seem to pick them every time. It’s annoying when you’ve spent the time offering genuine advice, but I start from the premise now that there’s every chance that any thread won’t be what it appears to be.

The effects of a bank holiday perhaps 🤔

Same!! Then they came back and I tried to comment and it said you can't post on a deleted thread!

Annoying isn’t it, I was enjoying the McDonald’s one and wanted an update on the one about the horrid friend but gone!

Didn't see the McDonald's one?

The one about the obese teenager disappeared though Confused

JoeGoldberg · 04/05/2022 00:03

Every thread in my watch list says deleted. Pretty sure 'party bags for a 1 year old' shouldn't need deleting??

CarrieCookie · 04/05/2022 00:06

And the wtf creepy massage neighbour one that should have been deleted keeps coming back in and out 🫥

In month of April, seven of the just-over 70 posts I have commented on have been closed down, so 10% attrition rate. Does dampen my jump-up responses & i find it makes AIBU dull & purposeless, so I am wandering off.

Granted a few have been a punch up, but we are adults here & can take a bit of the rough along with the smooth jazz that is MN. The odd troll at our expense here at the Vipers Nest is a larf worth having.

Recognisable from your own post? We’re all Missus Spartacus here.

I hope this phase of hyper triggered posters soon abates otherwise the interesting posts & dilemmas will hang & wither on the vine through lack of response & argy-bargy*.

*Apologies to any readers triggered by inference of anything vaguely of the South Atlantic & Latin American stuff 😉

Yes me too. It's tedious and mildly irritating - for the first time since first joining Mumsnet I am starting to feel like maybe it's time I moved on. I can't be doing with some big sister monitor type hovering to delete anything vaguely controversial, I'm big enough and ugly enough to leave a thread myself if it turns offensive, I don't need Big Brother/Sister deciding that for me. 😕

McDonald's, basically op ordered meal with her dd, then realised that the McDonald's was full, and expected staff to have a waiting system for the tables,

JoeGoldberg · 04/05/2022 00:14

@CarrieCookie yeah that's the same on mine too. One minute it's gone then it's back.

Sarahcoggles · 04/05/2022 00:16

What was wrong with the 4D number plate thread? Why was that deleted?

Realisation of creation of a 4th dimension 😬

Pixiedust1234 · 04/05/2022 00:20

Since the site update i have noticed deleted thread titles are staying around so you click on them and get a deletion message whereas before it would be properly gone unless you had posted on it. Right now a deleted thread has been showing in trending for the past thirty minutes Confused

DailySheetWasher · 04/05/2022 00:21

CarrieCookie · 03/05/2022 23:45

That was pure made up shite though tbf 🤣

'Pure Made Up Shite' should be the name of the topic where all the troll threads are moved to!

BadNomad · 04/05/2022 00:22

I hate coming back and seeing I have 42 unread messages on the thread, but it has been deleted. Will never know what (fake) drama I missed. 😫

CJsGoldfish · 04/05/2022 00:22

Because posters get their arse handed to them on a plate, so they ask MNHQ to delete it 'for privacy reasons' or similar
This happens ALL THE TIME. The OP doesn't like that the thread didn't go the way they expected it to so they pack up their toys. 🙄

Zotter · 04/05/2022 00:24

Ginger1982 · 03/05/2022 23:15

One I was on about the husband making the OP dump her step child was frosted without even an explanation. Just 'thread deleted'.

There was an explanation from mumsnet when I clicked on it. Said they could confirm was not a genuine post.

Notimeforaname · 04/05/2022 00:24

Yes, I too am sick of all the threads I'm watching being deleted. Also sick of seeing that video of your woman and her two kids sowing fucking seeds 😫

EatSleepReplete · 04/05/2022 00:30

Deleted threads should definitely not still be visible in Trending. There's no good reason for it.

midsomermurderess · 04/05/2022 00:30

There was a thread yesterday on how to spot trolls. It got zapped for 'troll hunting'. I thought it was doing people a service

Feckingfeck · 04/05/2022 00:41

I had a thread deleted 😬 I feel quite naughty really ... wasn't me though.

PyongyangKipperbang · 04/05/2022 00:54

TRA's hate MN so will troll as much as they can to prove their point. MRA's....the same.

Then you have the Daily Fail and the red top "journalists" posting to provoke reactions that they can post online.

And then we have people with literally nothing else in their lives but made up shit that makes them think that people are noticing them.

All rather pathetic.

FridaynightCry · 04/05/2022 01:03

Was the WTF thread with dude on FB leaving oil on doorstep a made up one?
I was getting well invested [I cant sleep, I wanna read some trash lol]

Fizzyfish · 04/05/2022 01:15

Censorship- It's happening everywhere on the Internet these days

oakleaffy · 04/05/2022 01:43

Lilifer · 03/05/2022 22:23

It's so weird though because a lot of the time the threads seem fairly normal - they must kick off after I log off and by the time I get back on they're deleted - in this case it was the adopted child's sibling aibu and I only saw the first 6 of 7 posts, then clicked back on to it an hour later and it was gone! 🤨

That one did seem a little ''Odd''
the thing that made me think ''What?'' was that the OP was going to ''formally adopt her stepdaughter'' when she was Eighteen.

This legally isn't possible.
Also too fast moving and emotive.. I think it was just a wind up.
