What is it with all these threads being deleted??

Every day now there seems to be a thread deleted on aibu - it's the only section I'm really on, but pretty much every day lately I'll see a thread, read it, then return to it later to get an update and it's been deleted. I've been on Mumsnet since 2009 and threads were rarely deleted until recently , this last year or so it seems to happen so much. Are more people just trying to troll or wind us up, or what's the reason behind this huge increase in deletions?

I was also thinking this. 2 threads I was on today gone, 3 yesterday. Two for breaching talk guidelines.

One I was on about the husband making the OP dump her step child was frosted without even an explanation. Just 'thread deleted'.

I have no idea how it would work but I think there should be a ‘Troll’ topic so at least the good advice isn’t lost and that posters can learn what specific trolls look like. It would also put an end to the ‘what happened to’ threads that pop up when a troll thread has been zapped.

One the other day someone on AIBU asking for help in choosing their fucking glasses.

It doesn't help that all a thread starter has to say is "it's identifying" and Mumsnet will delete it. Even if there's nothing more identifying than they live in London, they delete instantly rather than risk it.

And as for the message "we're taking this down while we have a look behind the scenes."! I have never, ever seen one be reinstated.

Yes that was a strange one wasn't it. It escalated so quick. Just can't understand who would have time to invent a story like that??

I just spent ages typing a very carefully worded and respectful response to a thread only to hit ‘post’ and be told the thread was deleted! 😡

It was a big fat hairy troll, that's why. My troll-dar isn't that advanced, but it leaped out at me (the overly saintly nature of the OP was a bit of a giveaway).

Ketchup troll was also "boycott M&S for unhealthy food" troll.

One I was on just got deleted as I was reading this one! Why???

And I wondered why the husband ruined Eid one got nerfed too.

I got dragged into that, but it escalated too quickly.

Because it's troll city. MNHQ are deleting more because there are more troll threads!

Weirdly I just clicked on this thread and got the thread deleted message! Clicked off and on again and it was here. I wonder if some are being mistakenly deleted because of the update?

It got really offensive. Some of the comments made me want to curl up and die inside. Would be surprised if the OP had asked for it to be removed cos some posters were being absolutely horrible.

That seems odd, almost textbook advancement too quickly.

It can be a shame, one in chat I was interested in reading because I know people in a similar situation went pop before I could even read the first post. It got offensive apparently - so I can understand why it was removed - it's just a shame.

Like the troll thread idea some of the advice is great even if the OP is taking the piss.
