Mumsnet Talk re-platforming - Known issues update

Hi all,
As you probably know we re-plaftormed the site overnight on Tuesday (in order to move to a faster, more stable and secure site which would be easier to develop new features on). There are a number of issues and bugs as a result of the move that we are working through and we thought it would be a good idea to list them on a page which we can keep updated as we sort through the problems. You can find that page here.

Mumsnet is a very large, complicated and old site - we've been working on re-platforming for the best part of 3 years - so it's not a huge surprise there are some bugs but please be assured we are working our way through them will get to them all as soon as we possibly can. In the meantime I do apologise for any inconvenience and frustration - I know it's been a painful day and a half for some.

Thank you to all those who've fed back and are helping us solve the remaining issues - it's really much appreciated Flowers.

If you're in a browser you can refresh. It would be helpful if people could specify if they're referring to the app or whatever.

Pictures are still small for me on Firefox browser desktop version.

"Pictures" (by which I mean and link to text) are still too small for me to read, also on Firefox browser desktop version.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 14/05/2022 22:32

"any" link to text. That's my mistake, not MN fault!

Aphrael · 15/05/2022 04:20

My starred topics have disappeared - iPad 6th gen, iPadOS 15.5. Using the app.

DragonwithoutaDungeon · 15/05/2022 05:24

I now have notifications for 3 PMs which I can't see on Firefox desktop

SirChenjins · 15/05/2022 10:04

I’m on an iPhone - how the heck do you refresh the view?

Sweetpeasaremadeforbees · 15/05/2022 11:12

Thank you. I'm on a laptop so I'll try that.

Volterra · 15/05/2022 11:53

Thank you very much for fixing things so I can post from my iPad again 😊

GettingStuffed · 15/05/2022 14:29

I can't sign in on my Huawei android. It just goes round and round in circles, I also can't access my notifications says there's a server error

Can I ask how?

supadupapupascupa · 15/05/2022 16:12

I'm unable to make sense of a lot of threads due to missing sentences on the end of peoples comments. See photo for example. Is it just me? I'm in an apple phone reading through the app

Please can we have the refresh button back

This ^ It's a pigging nightmare on the Eurovision thread for me.

You're lucky you could get on the Eurovision thread. Some of us kept getting thrown out as soon as we started scrolling. I gave up in the end.

I think I've just about had enough now. No paragraphs, quotes merging into replies, ends of sentences chopped off, being thrown out of MN and threads appearing on my watched list that I'd deleted weeks ago. It's impossible.

RichardOsmansXraySpecs · 15/05/2022 16:21

Just before I stomp off, I'll attach the screenshot of what has happened to my post, ffs.

The refresh button on your browser, it usually looks like an arrow in a C shape. Or ctrl+R.

It's been reported multiple times to @MNHQ Hmm That and paragraphs not appearing on the app, so that every post is just a solid block of text Hmm

Johnnysgirl · 15/05/2022 18:56

Cheers, HellyR.

I would love to "see photo", but on the desktop machine I use the font when I click on the link looks about size 3, possibly 4 at a pinch. It would be ridiculous to read the computer with magnifying glass!

Come on, Mumsnet, fix it. It's been over three weeks now.

ArtVandalay · 16/05/2022 00:57

Haven’t RTFT, but please can you sort out auto capitals on new paragraphs?

oitnw · 16/05/2022 06:35

Does anyone else have the rest of the post cut off mid-sentence after a quote?

madmay · 16/05/2022 06:44

^^ This. Please fix it. It's hugely annoying.

DragonwithoutaDungeon · 16/05/2022 09:57

@JustineMumsnet Any chance of an update on the issues please? Still can't see my PMs on firefox browser

kittensinthekitchen · 16/05/2022 10:42

This is pissing ridiculous.

Bookmarked the last post after reading, then refreshed the page to see if anything else had been posted.

1, it took the page a little 15 seconds to load, which is so shit it's laughable

2, it took me waaaay back in the thread, rather than to the comment I'd fucking bookmarked!

Does anyone at MNHQ actually care??

Yes, this has been reported multiple times on multiple threads, apparently it's being looked at but not fixed as yet.

BlackeyedSusan · 16/05/2022 11:14

This thread took 17 seconds to load from site stuff BUT..... It did take me to the bookmark . Going to time the posting, then refresh see if I go back to where I was reading yesterday...

BlackeyedSusan · 16/05/2022 11:18

17 seconds to post but trying to enter that by clicking on this box... Page jumped and I got "getting started" as I clicked on that instead of the text box, so had another big chunk of time getting back from that.

All in all a minute wasted waiting for threads to load, posts to post, etc.
