Mumsnet Talk re-platforming - Known issues update

Hi all,
As you probably know we re-plaftormed the site overnight on Tuesday (in order to move to a faster, more stable and secure site which would be easier to develop new features on). There are a number of issues and bugs as a result of the move that we are working through and we thought it would be a good idea to list them on a page which we can keep updated as we sort through the problems. You can find that page here.

Mumsnet is a very large, complicated and old site - we've been working on re-platforming for the best part of 3 years - so it's not a huge surprise there are some bugs but please be assured we are working our way through them will get to them all as soon as we possibly can. In the meantime I do apologise for any inconvenience and frustration - I know it's been a painful day and a half for some.

Thank you to all those who've fed back and are helping us solve the remaining issues - it's really much appreciated .

Notifications now appear, after weeks of error message. But they still don't work! They link to the first page/first post of each thread, instead of directing to the first unread post. Why oh why? Endless paging through and scrolling to find where I last read to. Is this intended behaviour - insert colourful expression of choice - or will it be fixed?

(Viewing on Safari, iPad mini, latest iOS.)

I have come back after a week to see if their are any changes, on a positive Mumsnet being unusable means I have got lots done. I can't see any updates that address my problem of only being able to see one post, sometimes less than one, at a time (Fire tablet) all I can see is, change your talk setting to "view all" which it is set to and makes no difference to the unworkable view.

Bookmarks still taking ages. Or not at all
Can't press return to go to New line without putting a space after the last word.
Though works with a full stop.

Still getting error 502 big black box when pressing bookmark.

Still no return to top at the bottom of threads. Difficult to use with dodgy eyesight/one handed or with poor mobility

Notification takes you to top of thread and then you can't find the bookmark.

Ok thanks @Buffyismyaltaego - will get this looked into asap

It’s probably already been asked but why are the photos all up the wrong way ?

Um... they aren't for me?

I'm starting to think I'm the only person for whom images are working perfectly normally. Both on my laptop and in my phone. Normally sized and the right way up.

I'm finding it really odd that different people are having such a range of different issues, and some of us are having close to none.

lucky you. Still very much not working here. Along with most of the other issues I've reported. Nothing has changed and the accessibility for vision issues is still as awful as it was. The issues weren't even listed on the updates page when I last checked (I don't come as much now so don't know if they are now, but they're certainly not fixed)

I really miss having shortcuts to topics at the bottom of the website.

I used to regularly read AIBU, chat and relationships as I would read through a thread, get to the bottom and click on a different topic. You took a full list away a while ago. There were still links to AIBU and chat so I kept reading those but relationships went off the shortcuts and eventually I stopped reading it.

Now there are no shortcuts to topics at all and I have to click about and drill down to access a topic. It’s clunky and tiresome. Can the shortcuts to topics be added back in as links at the bottom of the page please?

refresh is taking me back to the point I joined the thread this morning. not the point where I have bookmarked and want to continue reading further replies from.

I'm getting an Error 500 "oops our servers are down" message when I go to www.mumsnet.com/talk/threads-im-on , using a windows laptop and Chrome Version 101.0.4951.54

It's very annoying.

Please bring back the box for page number, which took you directly to that page. I just gave up today when I was at the end of a 30+ page thread, and I knew what I wanted to read again was about page 9 but I'd have to go there via page after page.

Oh, & while notifications taking you to the correct post is working for some people, I'm accessing threads in other ways & am seemingly being taken to random posts within them, pages away from where I last was. Surely accessing a thread from Trending used to take you to the first post, anyway?

I wouldn't hold your breath. only some sorts of accessibility get counted... in life generally. which ones are variable.

I'm having to log in incognito. I use chrome browser on android but all day, I've been having the 400 error message - white screen, occasionally the black pop up.

It's been OK since the initial issues, but I haven't been able to come on all day. I've cleared my cache and no joy.

Any ideas?

Posts are not posting in their entirety - I think if it's just a post with a quote. One might be a mistake by the poster - repeated incidents indicate a problem. Here are a couple of recent examples.

Some threads are accepting 1002 or 1004 posts.

When is this one likely to be fixed? It’s very irritating.

When I click back on Active it refreshes the page - I want it to take me back to the list that was there before

I keep getting this happen when I open threads. iPad, safari browser.

Does the 'reply' function within the new box at the end of a post actually work? I have tried several times to reply to a specific post but the comment just posts normally without any notification that it is a reply. Am i doing something wrong?
i have to do the quote thing if i want to reply, which can be cumbersome.
