Can we please have a MN Classic option for those who can't cope with the changes?

Would it be so difficult to have a MN Classic option - which we have always had, and which some of us have been using since the original format change - for posters who find the changing format difficult? There are many posters with neurodiversity, for example, who will probably stop posting here because it all abruptly looks and feels wrong Sad

Yes please. I was still using classic.

Howeverdoyouneedme · 20/04/2022 11:43

Hard agree

vodkaredbullgirl · 20/04/2022 11:43

Please, hate the new look.

Stabbitystabstab · 20/04/2022 11:44

It reminds me of crappy forums from the 90s 😂

ChesneyHawkesLoveChild · 20/04/2022 11:45

Definitely agree 😯

It would be handy to have a few neurodiverse ppl cast an eye over a new format to point out difficulties & better ideas for colours/shapes/layout etc.

It's a new platform, not just a new design, so I can't imagine that would be possible.

Greensleeves · 20/04/2022 11:58

@peachgreen if that's the case, then I honestly think that's it for me. It isn't MN like this. It's made me tearful and anxious (and bollocks to anyone who thinks that's pathetic, ableism isn't a good look)

Opening MN this morning was like going out into the garden and finding out that someone's replaced all your flowers with packing noodles. Awful.

It’s awful!

QuebecBagnet · 20/04/2022 12:01

Please. Was also still using classic and really dislike this.

QuebecBagnet · 20/04/2022 12:03

It’s the non stop scrolling which is awful. On this thread I can only see three messages at a time and have to scroll to see others. I don’t understand how it’s so bad.

Mum2jenny · 20/04/2022 12:04

Please can we have a classic option. I really do not like this

Mumsnut · 20/04/2022 12:06

hell yes

Cailin66 · 20/04/2022 12:06

Personally I'm really loving the new style. My posts are a different colour and so are the OP's so it's easy to find them. And just love I can now bold, underline or Italic so easily which was so difficult to do before now.

I know from other boards I'm on that it just takes a few days to settle into the new look - for those of you having difficulty today.

starfishmummy · 20/04/2022 12:07

I dont like it either. I can probably get used to the look but bhings like "bold" aren't working properly for me.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 20/04/2022 12:07

I agree - I really don't like this new platform.

ExhaustedChameleon · 20/04/2022 12:08

Agree. Hate it :-(

The coloured stripes on active trigger vertigo & sensory overload, as I'm a -neurodiverse- speed reader.

I'm not often well enough for laptop, so rely on my phone. The new layout looks like we've zoomed in, so my brain can't see the bigger picture. Feel like I'm peering through a small hole.

Everything is too far apart, which necessitates much more scrolling. Miserable & tiring for those of us with severe fatigue & chronic illness.

Have spent most of morning on other sites now, which is sad.

Greensleeves · 20/04/2022 12:10

@Cailin66 that's great for you, but perhaps a bit tactless to pop up on a thread about people who struggle with change to announce that you don't. I won't adjust in a few days. I have been using the same MN format since 2003, thanks to the MN Classic function, which has now been taken away. Many other posters are in the same position, and some of us will leave rather than put up with it.

FetchezLaVache · 20/04/2022 12:12

Another plea for Classic! I don't like change in general and I don't like this change in particular.

I disagree. I was on netmums for years and only came over to mumsnet after netmums changed their site and I absolutely hated what they did with it. They made it harder to use, but this is even worse than that now. I’m going to give it a couple of days to see if I can get used to it (which I doubt very much), but I think I’ll end up going back to netmums. I’ve also been logged out and the email address I used for this is years old and I can’t even remember what it was to sign back in. I’ve lost my username and years of threads and posts :/

User48751490 · 20/04/2022 12:28

Not enjoying new look at all. Sorry guys. Got a real shock this morning coming online to this.

Eddielizzard · 20/04/2022 12:29

Completely agree. I have been using Classic since I joined and I REALLY HATE THIS FORMAT THAT HAS BEEN FOISTED ON US. Classic back please!

StationaryMagpie · 20/04/2022 12:34

i really dislike it.. i hate the white post background, it HURTS my eyes.. i want my soft colours back :(

clairethewitch70 · 20/04/2022 12:37

I really hate it too and want the old style back

spiderlight · 20/04/2022 12:37

Yes please!! This is all just too big and cartoony! Really not a fan.
