Repeated pop up attempts

Today, while browsing MN, I have had repeated warnings that the site is attempting to open a pop up window.

I’ve never had this before - what’s changed? Is it legit? I’ve blocked each pop up attempt, so no idea what it is trying to open, or why.

(I’m browsing using an iPad mini, on Safari, iOS 11.2ish)

I've just had this twice using the mobile site. It's a bloody 'you've won a £million if you click now!' thing.

And me, repeatedly today also. One of those "you have won an iPhone" ones, which ironically has just appeared again as I've been typing this sentence.

Looks like this, with a further pop-up that you have to click OK on as it locks the screen.

I had 3. Blocked pop ups, earlier. Neither of the ads on page looked to be a candidate.

I'm getting this too.. Can't work out how to tell phone to block them. Internet settings say block pop up, but it is still opening.

The ad at the top was 'vmware' and was in German - not sure if it is the culprit but I've just had 'congratulations'! and been whizzed off to another window about 5 times on one thread!

Have also had the pop ups on chrome (using android phone). Had one while reading this thread, so have swapped to firefox to see if it happens again. My phone isn't blocking it.

This ad is the culprit, mumsnet you must do something for these spam adverts!
