I am Spartacus.

Just to keep the thread on track.

hazeyjane · 30/08/2016 22:14

Still here.
I am still (just about) Hazeyjane
A transwoman is still a transwoman. Not a woman
A transman is still a transman. Not a man
You still can't change your sex
There is still no such thing as a female penis
I am still a woman and I am still not cis.

PacificDogwod · 30/08/2016 22:15

I cannot be non-woman either, therefor I am Spartacus.

user1471098628 · 30/08/2016 22:16

I am Spartacus. I am not CIS!

I am a woman.

Society treats me the way it does because of my biology.
Not because of my "lady-brain" which is the most offensive way to describe someone raised in a patriarchy as a woman.

BeyondASpecialSnowflake · 30/08/2016 22:16

Urgh, can I also point out to hq (though not to Kate as I doubt it was solely her decision) that when it is well acknowledged that the site has more hands on deck during office hours, a response on a thread like this (which we were not expecting imminently - we'd been told it would be weeks!) posted at 9pm probably isn't the wisest decision.

Unless of course, you are given to tinfoil-hattery...

AltheaThoon · 30/08/2016 22:16

Still Spartacus here. I am not cis and I am definitely not 'non-trans'. I am a woman.

QueenLaBeefah · 30/08/2016 22:17

I completely reject the term CIS.
I am Spartacus.

BeyondASpecialSnowflake · 30/08/2016 22:18

Anyway, yes I am still Spartacus and will be for the next 15 or so posts until the thread is full.

AuntyElle · 30/08/2016 22:18

I am a woman.
I am NOT cos.

LastGirlOnTheLeft · 30/08/2016 22:19

I would like to know wtf Dr Phil (or Dr False as he is known in my house) is giving credence to sex change surgery?? He is such a schmuck.....

JacquettaWoodville · 30/08/2016 22:19

I bet MNhq scheduled the response for 9am tomorrow but realised the thread would be full of spartacuses (Spartaci?) before then

littlejeopardy · 30/08/2016 22:19

I am Spartacus and late to the thread.

I am a woman (not cis) who believes that a man can't become a woman and vice vercer.

I am also someone who loves a family member who is a transwoman. Some of the dismissive 'blokes in a dress' comments make me cringe as I see the turmoil trans people go through.

I am angry with the media and healthcare system that body dismorphia is treated with transition. I don't believe it actually helps the people suffering and instead erodes the rights and freedoms of actual women.

You don't give an anorexic a diet book and respect their identity as a fat person, you give them counselling. The same approach should be given to those who hate their own bodies.

attacktheblock · 30/08/2016 22:20

I am Spartacus

Mnhq please respond to our concerns

mirandayardley · 30/08/2016 22:20

KateMumsNet
and it doesn't explain why posts about autogynephila are consistency zapped.

Sorry, meant to deal with this before standing down - as far as I know we've deleted one post about autogynephilia, because it implied that this was what motivated most or all trans women. We also deleted a subsequent post which quoted the first.

The fact is though that most cases of transition are motivated by autogynephilia. That this is not acknowledged, even flatly denied, causes many of the problems that we have today between transgender males and women.

And I say these words as someone who is themselves transsexual.

AuntyElle · 30/08/2016 22:20

Oh FFS.

I am a woman.

I am NOT cis.

Lalsy · 30/08/2016 22:22

I am still Spartacus and still a scientist and feminist. I would like MNHQ in the short term to: reassure us that posts stating biological facts will not be deleted for that reason; and ban the word cis (unless they can provide examples of its use that don't belittle or stereotype women). Am sure others can think of more.

user1471098628 · 30/08/2016 22:23

The hell did Miranda join?! Welcome! Love your work. Saw you in the Morning Star. Brilliant stuff.

Kalispera · 30/08/2016 22:23

I am Kali.

I believe in science and I won't betray that based on what some men tell me I should or shouldn't believe instead. Because, you know, women should shut the fuck up and do as the men say. That's men, the ones with the penises.

OlennasWimple · 30/08/2016 22:24

Given that this thread is at capacity anyway, I've started a new thread here to discuss the MNHQ response (will get it deleted if someone has beaten me to it]]

Clonakilty · 30/08/2016 22:25

I really respect your viewpoint, Miranda Yardley. You do so much to present the rational transgender perspective and we can learn much from you.

NauticalDisaster · 30/08/2016 22:25

How about we preface our posts with:

I use he or she to indicate sex not gender as I reject gender as a construct that has historically been used to enslave women. I use woman/man as an indicator of sex not gender.

Does that work for you, MNHQ?

Waltermittythesequel · 30/08/2016 22:25

I'd hate to think that MN posted that non-response at this time and then dashed off so that the thread would fill up and they could wash their hands of it a little while longer...

I am Spartacus. (

TheMagicFarawaySleep · 30/08/2016 22:26

I am Spartacus.

I find the comment stating "How about trans people and non-trans people" utterly chilling.

Please do not dare to "other" anyone not trans and imply that the small percentage of the population which are trans, should be the benchmark agajnst which others are measured.

That is highly misogynistic and really does demonstrate that other women are perceived as less.

BeyondASpecialSnowflake · 30/08/2016 22:27

I am the last Spartacus of the thread!!

spartacuz · 09/09/2024 20:59

I agree with the above!
