I can't believe some of the posters from previous threads have been banned. Ridiculous doesn't even begin to cover it. There are some excellent, thought provoking posts on this thread and I would hope that MNHQ would let it stand.

I've gathered from the little I've read already that MNHQ have taken the position of supporting people's preferred gender identities and pronouns, over and above biological truth, by banning posters for 'deliberately' misgendering people. I'm angry that men's right are trampling over women's in all sorts of arenas, with the trans activist narrative that 'I feel like a woman' trumps the biological truth of what a woman is. And for this to be happening, with the consequence of banning people, on mumsnet just shows how pervasive this damaging narrative of bulllshit is.

Of course MNHQ have to be careful.

I get that there are trans activists issuing threats and awful opinions.

On the other side of the coin there are people struggling with their gender, whether you believe in that or not, that are also getting threats and beatings and abuse.

MNHQ have to look at the situation as a whole and are damned if they do and damned if they don't.

The best we can possibly expect them to do is to remain as neutral as possible and delete anything against guidelines which should include deliberate misgendering, really it isn't that difficult to use a name or the word they if you want debate to continue and don't want to use he or she, and I believe MNHQ have already said they will delete any posts which call an MNer cis if it's reported, which is also the right thing to do.

Many of us on here who have children, family members, partners, friends etc who are transgender or are struggling with issues around their gender and we also have nowhere to turn, and noone to talk to. We can't even start a thread on here asking a simple question on the LGBT children board without getting a barage of people telling us we are wrong, often straying into being insulting and offensive.

matilda I think a very large number of us would need to be banned and if we're not, posieparker and any others who've been banned for stating the same factual truths, should get an apology and the option of re-registering.

I thought science was accepted as truth by most people nowadays but it seems like we are going back to the bloody dark ages with ignoring basic biology in favour of 'feelz'
