Message from MNHQ: We're afraid we felt we had to delete this thread as we feel like it has strayed way outside of our Talk Guidelines. We do regard deliberate, malicious misgendering (as opposed to accidental slip ups) as transphobic. Thank you to everyone who took the time to post thoughtfully here. We understand folks will want to talk more about pronouns and trans issues in general on another thread perhaps - but we would ask that you do so in way that doesn't rehash or repeat this thread. Thanks.&Message from MNHQ: We're afraid we felt we had to delete this thread as we feel like it has strayed way outside of our Talk Guidelines. ONE poster wanted to discuss pronouns and they won. A thread about women being shut down by transactivists was shut down by a ta.

Fucking brilliant.

AND FOR THE RECORD THE PERSON'S PRONOUNS ARE 'THEY'

A vile misogynist was "misgendered" be being called he, because we can not even discuss who is doing this.. It is he's. It is men.

they was not even a thing 5 years ago. If I today demanded my pronouns be "Vagina owner" would everyone have to respect that?

Maud and Venus every time I see a thread like this I'll tell the story again. What happened to DD is happening everywhere to young girls who refuse to toe the Tumblr line. I really would love to know what MN thinks of it, and if they see the connection between their stance and what's happening to our daughters.

travellingbird · 25/08/2016 11:04

I am an adult human female.

holds breath

BeyondLovesSweetDee · 25/08/2016 11:05

Moll, I don't remember seeing that - it's disgusting, your poor DD Angry

This is the logical conclusion of your stance mnhq. But still you will feel no shame Angry

BeautifulMaudOHara · 25/08/2016 11:06

Totally agree with the thread title!

So much of the debate isn't debate, it's silencing women (with vaginas) yet again.

But none of that is important , Moll, not like the misgendering of a gender neutral woman hater. That's the important issue here.

Nate, as I will call him because Ada Wells was a bloody fantastic woman, is, to all intents and purposes, a man. A man who has a lot of issues and should never have been elected into such a role. Seriously, whoever elected him needs their heads read.

venusinscorpio · 25/08/2016 11:07

Please tell your daughter from me how brave I think she is. This is what you call feminism, not what appropriating twats think it is.

SpaceUnicorn · 25/08/2016 11:08

They should have that choice to call themselves a woman

A person may call themselves anything they want. However they cannot force other people to accord with their wishes.

amanaplanacanalpanama · 25/08/2016 11:09

The first part of my message was facetious btw. I hope it doesn't come across as serious. Moll I was really saddened and angered to read about the experiences that you and your dd have faced.

Snowshimmer · 25/08/2016 11:10

I am so sorry to hear what happened to your DD Moll. Chilling. The T is want the women out of the LGBT apparantly.

I have to log off for a while now. I'm really hoping the thread will still be here when I come back.

wonkylampshade · 25/08/2016 11:14

PosieParker was banned for what!?

What a crock of shit this all is.

M0rven · 25/08/2016 11:15

As a business model though I don't get it .. just how much revenue do you get from trans/trans activists compared to how much you get from women

Good point

BarryMerry · 25/08/2016 11:15

Just adding my voice here.

I am Sparticus.

There's no such thing as a female penis.

The trans lobby may call it mis-gendering... I raise you mis-sexing. When the person in question is called a woman, that is putting them in the same category as me, which is patently untrue. I have a woman's body; I have no sense of gender identity, save for what is imposed on me externally.

Since my comment on the previous thread will have been deleted along with the rest, I'll repeat it now.

It all boils down to no one being above the law. It is illegal to make hate speak comments about anyone based on their race, religion, ethnicity, culture or sex/gender. Ada Wells seems to have crossed that boundary with their tweets and other statements. Yet those who should bear some corporate responsibility for Ada's actions and words are maintaining a deafening silence.

It seems like everyone in authority is paralysed by fear of a highly vocal minority.

This time next year my twin daughters will probably be preparing to start university. I'm truly frightened.

I wonder if it's time to look into Mason type conspiracies? As to why a small minority are aphaving such an impact.

I'm only half joking.

AdjustableWench · 25/08/2016 11:22

Re the Equality Act, I believe the issue is harrassment. Here's an example:

'Harassment is when someone makes you feel humiliated, offended or degraded because you are transsexual.'

' For example a transsexual woman is having a drink in a pub with friends. The landlord keeps calling her ‘Sir’ and ‘he’ when serving drinks, despite her complaining about it.'

from:
www.equalityhumanrights.com/en/advice-and-guidance/gender-reassignment-discrimination#h3

There are dozens of other examples around if people want to google them.

Re the cotton ceiling: Here are a couple of links that discuss it, but that also might enrage people (just a little advance warning).

One explanation (from the person who coined the term):
drewdeveaux.tumblr.com/post/101117575736/explaining-the-cotton-ceiling

And another:
www.insufferableintolerance.com/defense-cotton-ceiling/

I can't say I subscribe wholeheartedly to the idea, but I do think it's worth considering some of the questions it raises about the assumptions people might make about genitals.

EmpressKnowsWhereHerTowelIs · 25/08/2016 11:24

I've told quite a lot of people about your DD, Moll. She honestly sounds fantastic.

For the record, HQ: THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A FEMALE PENIS. And you know it.

Mrsmorton · 25/08/2016 11:25

Thank you adjustable very informative.

SpaceUnicorn · 25/08/2016 11:30

I guess they're scared that advertisers will get skittish MN is not seen to be zeitgeist-aligned as far as this bullshit goes.

Money talks, so pipe down ladies Hmm

jellycat1 · 25/08/2016 11:31

The Cotton Ceiling is NOT about “men” getting into women’s pants, it’s about women born male (i.e. trans women) being seen & accepted as women, equal to cis women

Hang on a minute....women born male....isn't that a blatant contradiction of TA rhetoric?!!! Surely they should be saying women born in men's bodies?! If they don't even know what terminology to use, how can they expect we mere cis idiots to be able to?!! God this gives me a headache. It's so fucking offensive to women. Back off men.
