It's ok - change is good!

Hello all,
A little bit of advance notice that we are planning to roll out our new look (as per the current home page) to the talk pages tomorrow morning (tech willing). It's mostly cosmetic stuff plus a few very slight modifications to improve functionality - a nip here, a change of hue there. Anyway we hope you like it and do, of course, let us know if there's anything you object to.
Best,
Mumsnet Towers

people on here object to change?? never

FairyTaleOfNewYork · 14/12/2006 22:01

no no no change is bad

thanks for the warning, i dont do change usually

MyTwoChocolateCoinsWorth · 14/12/2006 22:05

no. no, you can't. i forbid it.

i dont deal well with change. i had a nervous breakdown when they moved the pickle and sauces isle in tesco. they found me curled up in the freezer hitting myself with the jumbo sausages, singing "she'll be coming round the mountain when she comes". this will kill me.

why would you do that to me, huh? why? why?

2snowshoes · 14/12/2006 22:17

i like change. sounds exciting

nutcracker · 14/12/2006 22:19

southeastastra · 14/12/2006 22:22

blimey, good luck

WigWamBam · 14/12/2006 22:23

Oh no, no, no ... change is bad. I can't cope with change, if you can't find me tomorrow I'll be the one curled up in the corner with my hands over my eyes, moaning and rocking gently as the PC screen sits mocking me with it's flashy new changes of hue and it's improved functionality.

JustineMumsnet · 14/12/2006 22:24

Aww don't fret WWB - it won't be that functional .

OP posts:
WigWamBam · 14/12/2006 22:29

I suppose not ... not if Tech's fat fingers have been anywhere near it

JustineMumsnet · 14/12/2006 22:30

Is it just me but since the change I can't access any threads using Mac Safari. I get:

Not Found

The requested URL /$talkmainurl was not found on this server.

Apache/1.3.31 Server at www.mumsnet.com Port 80

I guess it'll stop me spending so much time on here, but I can't help feeling a little left out

GlennCloseAsCruellaDeVille · 15/12/2006 09:12

It's horrid..I can't read it properly

nononono [fsock]

BudaBauble · 15/12/2006 09:12

I no like it! I no like it!

(sorry Tech) It's too busy!

No no no no no

I may get used to it I suppose. But I still don't like it.

Emskilou · 15/12/2006 09:13

I'm not sure I am a an of this new style, I cant read it so well and I have a headache now!!! Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease change it back Xmas Grin

Emskilou · 15/12/2006 09:16

I meant 'a FAN obviously' seeeeeeeeeeee all this newness means my typing is worse Xmas Blush

7swansaswimmingup · 15/12/2006 09:17

dont like it, other arrangement was much easier to read/access

roisin · 15/12/2006 09:17

I like it. The blue is very pleasing - more calm, gentle shade.

Of course the changes will take a bit of getting used to. But generally I like the new layout a lot - thank you!

mears · 15/12/2006 09:19

Not sure at all. Didn't realise a change was coming so have literally just been using one format then changed. I find it really 'busy' and not so friendly on the eye. Will take a bit of time to get used too. Looks a bit 'crammed' in at the moment.

Weatherwax · 15/12/2006 09:19

All links on the menu come up with:-

While trying to retrieve the URL: www.mumsnet.com/SearchTalk?

The following error was encountered:

Connection Failed

And my connection works to other sites. I hate the lay out as well but that could be just me

sunnywong · 15/12/2006 09:19

I had that problem for a while Bitbbh

can't you take the blah about SWMNBN off now, it's all getting very dull

7swansaswimmingup · 15/12/2006 09:19

but when you go on to "threads youre on" its all underlines and no gaps between each thread, def not good for the eyes and whats with all the underlines

JustineMumsnet · 15/12/2006 09:20

hello hello,
We're having a few minor issues putting this up, apologies and please bear with us. If you could give it a wee while to settle before you decide it's pants that would be great too Xmas Smile.

OP posts:
MrsBadger · 15/12/2006 09:21

I like the calm new colours - maybe they'll usher in a new era of calm considered posting? Xmas Hmm

we can hope, eh?

Bearinthebigbluehouse - tis working fine on Safari for me (but from one Mac user to another, get Firefox, it's much better).

BonyMerryxmas · 15/12/2006 09:22

Bear - ditch Safari, I always found it really problematic with some sites. Get Firefox instead - much, much better imo! (Although dh still uses Safari, but theh he doesn't like change!)

FairyTaleOfNewYork · 15/12/2006 09:22

atm am not a fan, BUT will give it a while to get used to it and get it all straight.
