The great emoji debate

Afternoon everyone,

So: emojis. We've had a few questions about these over the last few days. Some of you love them and some of you loathe them. The truth of the matter is that they came into being as a side-effect of a technical fix that we did; we didn't set out to introduce them (and in fact, didn't expect you to discover them quite as quickly as you did ). On the question of whether they stay or whether they go, it's really up to you lot. We can get rid of them again; equally, if you like having them, we're happy for them to stay. Over to you ...

Why are they so massive tonight?

🎄⛄❄ I like the festive one's.

Not a fan. It's weird because some days they show up huge on my laptop and other days (today) they are the little black spidery things. Desktop they are big and colourful. Have yet to check my phone.

If everyone else wants them, fine, but if it were up to me I would ditch them.

I can see the festive ones on my laptop. They are microscopic and black but I can clearly see a tree/snowman/snowflake.

I like them but if the consensus is to get rid, I'll live 😿
But can we please then get a MN 🍺as I don't really do wine?
And a🐧 just because?

I can see the emojis better on Chrome. Firefox and that weird thing Microsoft have invented not so good.

I say get rid. They're cute for about 5 minutes, but really starting to get on my wick now. It's like conversing with excitable teenagers. And not in a good way.

Please, please take them away.

I don't want to read posts full of silly pictures and it'll lead to loads of aggro with people misconstruing them.

It's bad enough they're all over Facebook and and Twitter.

Text to speech doesn't cause a major problem having emojis. Sometimes it will tell me "smiley face", other times it will ignore them.

The emojis look tiny to me, but I do use a large font :D

I have no problem with them as long as they are not in titles and people don't go mad with them. Can they be limited in number in each post?

They were quite large on my phone, but huge on my laptop.

I do not ever want to see a huge smiling poo. Please let this come to an end soon, MNHQ.

The big giant faces all over the place are giving me the creeps. I don't mind the wee ones. In moderation. Sometimes.
