How do I do that virus scan?

Theydontknowweknowtheyknow · 21/08/2015 22:57

I don't understand why his twitter account is still active and Justine's information is still out there. Isn't Twitter legally obliged to delete it?

howtorebuild · 21/08/2015 22:57

Odd page.

Arse. I've had some suspicious activity on my email account and it looks like it has sent dodgy emails out from me. Coincidence or a MN thing?

LimeJellyforBrains · 21/08/2015 23:01

I just noticed this in the first paragraph: "Typically, ib.adnxs.com virus is used to promote gambling, lotteries or other things that are based on luck. If you receive its notifications, you should be aware that your PC may be infected with the adware. As soon as it gets inside it, it may modify your system settings and then may start showing ads by ib.adnxs.com every time you start your browsing on the Internet."

A few pp have had betting ads coming up?

Scatter, what anti-virus software do you run?

Pipbin · 21/08/2015 23:02

Scatter is on a Mac so most likely won't have any anti virus stuff.

scatterthenuns · 21/08/2015 23:03

Whatever is built into my mac. If there is anything, it is most likely from porn, not gambling.

LibrariesGaveUsP0wer · 21/08/2015 23:03

Theydont - Twitter will be liaising with police. As it is still up, I suspect there is a reason why the police prefer it so.

LimeJellyforBrains · 21/08/2015 23:04

No anti-virus stuff?? how do they manage then??

Sorry I know nothing about Macs so will have to bow out of giving any further advice, I'm sure someone else here will be much better able.

rollercoasterchicken · 21/08/2015 23:04

Stuff on FB happening too now

LibrariesGaveUsP0wer · 21/08/2015 23:04

And I don't think I'm giving anything away to the hacker by saying that....

AwfulBeryl · 21/08/2015 23:07

what's happening on fb chicken ?

Pipbin · 21/08/2015 23:09

No anti-virus stuff?? how do they manage then??
No one has yet written a virus for a Mac that can be downloaded without the users knowledge.

rollercoasterchicken · 21/08/2015 23:10

fishing attempts being sent out from MN posters profiles to other MNers apparently.

PMs and invitations to things.

PurpleDaisies · 21/08/2015 23:11

llareggub a few friends who aren't on here had their emails hacked this week so it could be a coincidence.

AwfulBeryl · 21/08/2015 23:11

ah bloody hell.

YetAnotherHelenMumsnet · 21/08/2015 23:11

Hello there,
Thanks for sending that over, we flagged it to the tech team as beyond urgent and we have a reply from them but because we are not quite fluent in tech lingo we have written back asking for clarification. The gist was that it's not something they are worried about, thank heavens. We SO appreciate you buzzing about it, though, thanks.

Pipbin · 21/08/2015 23:11

How have you heard this Chicken?
Have you had PM?

Simurgh · 21/08/2015 23:15

Emails are being hacked all the time so it may just be coincidence.

scatterthenuns · 21/08/2015 23:18

Security warning came up again

scatterthenuns · 21/08/2015 23:19

Was that regarding my problem Helen?

tigerscameatnight · 21/08/2015 23:20

just a heads up. Several people can't get in their Tesco accounts.

twirlypoo · 21/08/2015 23:22

Im logged out of tescos as well - just checked Confused

YetAnotherHelenMumsnet · 21/08/2015 23:23

Yes, it was, scatter. Apologies, I should have been clearer. They've got back now and said they'll report the ad to the agency but it's not a problem that is related to our current fandango. Thanks for flagging it, though.

twirlypoo · 21/08/2015 23:23

Hmmm. It won't actually load the password reset page for me either.
