Are you alright there Rebecca?

lorelei9 · 25/08/2015 15:39

thanks for the link....!

surprised that thread was allowed to remain....

Heathcliff27 · 25/08/2015 15:40

Yes a real life person, I had to actually speak rather than type out what I wanted to say. It was quite liberating but I don't feel like I need to do it again Grin

MadrigalElectromotive · 25/08/2015 15:41

I agree Boffin - this is about the hacker(s) hating the fact that women have a space online where we are able to communicate with each other.

YoureAllABunchOfBastards · 25/08/2015 15:42

I reckon Jeffery is my boss trying to make sure I do some work before term starts.

Jasonandyawegunorts · 25/08/2015 15:42

What's talking like, doesn't your jaw ache now?

Cheesybaps · 25/08/2015 15:45

Emoticon equality... yes!

Although the land of the hunz was utterly terrifying, I must admit their emoticons were so cooool. They move and everyfing!

Please can we get some new ones? Grin Cake Wine

BoffinMum · 25/08/2015 15:46

That Yoni thread is beyond funny. I can't believe I haven't seen that before.

You have gotta hand it to the man for trying Wink

coffeeisnectar · 25/08/2015 15:51

I think we need two chickens.

A real chicken and a,cooked chicken to keep the chicken keepers happy and the magic chicken meal people happy.

When you have time mnhq we would appreciate these additions.

I don't think this has ever been about data. I think it's about getting women to be quiet and using the data thing to scare users into deregging.

I don't think it's either. Script kiddie spots a vulnerability in MN. DDOSs site (easy) phishes some (minimal, fairly useless) data (slightly harder). Swats some folk (skill level zero)Some one on MN points that it's some sort of misogynistic attack. Kid decides he has more chance of fame if he pretends he is on some sort of noble quest. Brief flurry of media interest linking to F4J ( as the kid followed F4J and no-one else on twitter). Kid gives interview to mirror. Interest dies down, and people take the piss. Launched another DDOS.

Am imagining a hacker convention where they all get together and compare their successful hacks. The FBI, M15, Ashley Madison, American government emails etc. and then Jeff comes along and announces that he shut down a parenting website and forced all the women to chat on facebook for 18 hours. And all the other hackers edge slowly away from him...

Yup. And he'd only get in if his parent signed the permission form for him...

ChristineDePisan · 25/08/2015 15:59

I think this is absolutely all about silencing women's voices - unfortunately everyone posting about how they had to do the cooking and cleaning because MN was down are probably fuelling these knob ends who think that is what women should be doing all day anyway

StephanieBeacham · 25/08/2015 16:00

Quote of the week!

Aramynta · 25/08/2015 16:00

Yoni as in Joni Mitchell

Shock
LibrariesGaveUsP0wer · 25/08/2015 16:08

He talks like a teenager. A teenager into world of warcraft. I mean kek? I had to look that up.

In my head, he's Lily Allen's URL Badman Alexander gone hacker and he goes quiet at the weekends because his parents make him come downstairs.

Ooh ooh. Maybe he is the neglected teenage child of a MNer! !

LibrariesGaveUsP0wer · 25/08/2015 16:10

Of course, he may be a spotty 25 year old in New England. But my first image is more fun.

DontHaveAUsername · 25/08/2015 16:14

I don't think he'd be stupid enough to make the calls from anything that can be traced back to him. So he could be using an unregistered phone he paid cash for at a different location than where he lives. And it is rather easy to hide yourself on the net too.

Lweji · 25/08/2015 16:16

Maybe he is the neglected teenage child of a MNer!

Most likely.

They should start a NeglectedChildsNet instead of messing about with adult sites.

Thankfully my child is only somewhere between 9 and 12 (for privacy) and his computer activities are restricted to TF2, mostly. He probably prefers to be neglected so that he can play on the PS4.

SoupDragon · 25/08/2015 16:18

I think this is absolutely all about silencing women's voices

I think it has absolutely fuck all to do with "silencing women's voices" and everything to do with 15 minutes of fame.

Jasonandyawegunorts · 25/08/2015 16:19

I think it has absolutely fuck all to do with "silencing women's voices" and everything to do with 15 minutes of fame.

This is probably the most correct thing.

SirChenjin · 25/08/2015 16:20

Mine is nearly 18 and could probably have had a stab at it - he's far too lazy though.

A disgruntled ex intern at MN Towers who was sent out for the biscuits once too often??

LibrariesGaveUsP0wer · 25/08/2015 16:21

On the subject of women's voiced though, it is interesting how little press this has got really. I suspect a similarly popular male site would have garnered a lot more.

SirChenjin · 25/08/2015 16:21

Also agree with Soup

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 25/08/2015 16:24

Icimoi

There's going to be quite a population boom in 9 months' time, isn't there?

yep.
and none of the babies will me named Jeffrey

LibrariesGaveUsP0wer · 25/08/2015 16:25

Also the whole idea of 'swatting' reads like a teenager with anger issues. I mean, it's not something we've had a problem with in the UK. I do wonder if the mirror were told he was American as an oh so subtle stab at misleading.

townandcunty · 25/08/2015 16:26

I have written an open letter to the hackers here just airing my views:
