whatawhoppar Could you not use the same name with a 1 or something on the end ? I agree it is a pain in the backside to lose everything but many will be in the same situation with deactivating accounts and re registering with new ones.

On another note there's a screenshot on one of Jeffrey's mates twitter accounts to a recent thread posted on Mumsnet. He saying how 'brave' we all are. Not sure if MNHQ would be interested because it's a bit trivial?

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 21/08/2015 19:49

The forced log out didn't happen for everyone. I haven't been forced out yet, I haven't been prompted to change my password, it is still non compliant.

I think the advice was to log yourself out and reset your password if the forced logout didn't work.

Simurgh · 21/08/2015 19:50

It clearly didn't happen for everyone, Repeat. And the guff that was written in that user's profile looks like a clear hack for whatever reason.

DontTellThePrincessBride · 21/08/2015 19:54

I wonder if Adam Hills will mention this on The Last Leg tonight

I bet it gets an #isitok mention.

DH has been woefully oblivious to all of this, I mentioned it to him when he got home earlier and he's now reading the threads to catch up. He thought Jeffrey would be bored by now.

Simurgh · 21/08/2015 19:58

I suspect that Jeffrey's acolytes will be getting a bit bored.

After all, it doesn't really compare with the Ashley Madison hack and its consequences. It will soon be so last month.

MagpieCursedTea · 21/08/2015 19:59

After all this drama we should at least get a little Adam Hills love.

headlesslambrini · 21/08/2015 20:02

What was the itv 10.30 reference about?

TastingTheRainbow · 21/08/2015 20:05

Can't believe I've missed all this! Not been on munsnet for a while and didn't have a clue that anything was wrong until I got the email. It's all very scary. Also baffled as to how my username (now changed) was on the Twitter list coz I haven't logged in for AGES! It's set to stay logged in and as I read more than post if it logs me out I leave it.

Serious question!

What is THE LIST exactly? My name is on it but I don't really understand what it is. I've got PMs in my inbox with both mine and others addresses on it. Should I be worried. Do I need to do anything except change my MN password (which I've obviously done)?

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 21/08/2015 20:07

could it be that if it is set to logged in, it will automatically add the password and therefore can be read the same way as if you've just typed it in?

only guessing

ScrambledSmegs · 21/08/2015 20:07

Maybe he really likes watching the local news and weather, headless?

StephanieBeacham · 21/08/2015 20:08

Marking place, hope that's Ok.

DontHaveAUsername · 21/08/2015 20:10

Salty if you use your mumsnet password for any other accounts then you should change those because the list being talked about is a list of usernames/email addresses and the passwords they used. Anyone reading that list might try out those email addresses and password combinations on sites like paypal and gmail so it's definitely worth changing. Even if your name isn't on the list it's worth changing anyway because there's nothing to suggest he got more details and only released a small number.

AllThatGlistensIs · 21/08/2015 20:10

Well, that'll teach me to skim read on the hop without paying proper attention Blush

And now he's going to teach the media a lesson? Oh dear.

Don'thave - there were no email addresses on the list. Just username and passwords with IP addresses.

BertieBotts · 21/08/2015 20:11

I have just realised that keks is German for biscuit. So Biscuit

Salty if you've changed password you are fine. If you have ever used the same password somewhere else, change that too, just in case.

SouthWestmom · 21/08/2015 20:14

I was on the list and didn't get a forced p/w reset either so I just did it myself. Fortunately, the email I used was a throwaway and had a very secure p/w on that. I've since changed some other stuff as a precautionary measure but (fingers crossed) it seems OK so far.

mrsglowglow · 21/08/2015 20:22

Please could someone explain what the latest 'teach the media' quote is. I've been trying to keep up to date with all the goings on but missed today and don't have time to read the previous hackergate thread. Thanks
