Would you like to test an early version of our Talk app?

Hello,
We've been working on a test version of a new Talk app and could do with your help putting it through it's paces.

If you have an iPhone with iOS8 (sorry no iPods, iPads or android for now) and you'd like a sneak preview then head on over to this sign up page and sign up so we can send you an invite (it doesn't have to be your Mumsnet email address just one you can access).

The app is very much a beta version and everything may not work perfectly. If you find something that's broken or think there is something missing, please let us know.

Ideally we'd like you to use the app to read and post on threads and do whatever you normally do in Talk. Please note, this version of the app is LIVE and anything you post will appear on the Mumsnet site for all to see.

At the mo this is for registered mumsnetters only so if you can't see the sign up page please check you are logged in.

It's back. I missed it

I can't get in with the beta test app, it's giving 2 error messages. First saying the email/password combo isn't working (it's the combo I'm using to log into the mobile site), or that that I'm not connected to the internet (I'm on wifi)

Hi all, quick update...

Some of you are having trouble signing in to the beta app.

We are planning to release a new beta version of the Talk app by the end of next week, which will fix the sign in problems.

If you REALLY want to use the app before then, you can reset your password again, using just letters and numbers. There is an iOS bug which means any passwords with special characters won't work (this is what we are fixing).

If you haven't logged out of the app it will still work for you in any case.

If you stay logged in, you don't need to worry about the password.

Can't quite manage to understand stuff

I am logged in, my posts are my colour, everything is there in TIO, etc., but every time I try to post it tells me I'm not logged in. And yes, I have a special character but how come I can still see me as me (iykwim)?

I haven't been able to post for quite a few hours now.

I'm using the nice shiny new app, and I stay logged in.

Every time I try to post, it gives me an "oops!" notification, saying it looks like I'm offline (I'm at home, with wifi and full reception if I turn wifi off).

Not Just Me!!!

I can't post on the new app OR the old app. What's happening???

Can't seem to post a new thread on the app, keeps telling me I'm online (I'm not). So I try a few times, no joy, head to the mobile site, open up AIBU and find my post 5 times!

Thing is, I cannot open any of them. Other threads on that same page open as normal. And back in the talk app the threads don't even show in AIBU. Am confused.

And I tried to post this via the talk app and didn't work either.

Should have said that I have now managed to start the thread through the mobile site.

Few days ago I emailed MN towers about this.

The new beta app said "oops looks like you're offline"but it actually started my 2 threads in "site stuff" however the threads can't be opened like everyone else's thread.

They emailed back saying there is a known problem and they're looking into it, with the hope to get it back up and running soon.

At the same time I was unable to post on the main site and now this has slightly improved, although remains painfully slow and blocky. I learned from another thread that I was once again not alone!

Seems that MN has taken a real hammering this time but I'm sure their good old British resilience will overcome in the end!

What app are you guys using that's working? I used to use the purple app daily until it went down and I've not been able to get on with the mobile site very well and only have my phone as Internet access ????

I can get on the (purple) app but can't see photos. Help?
