Would you like to test an early version of our Talk app?

Hello,
We've been working on a test version of a new Talk app and could do with your help putting it through it's paces.

If you have an iPhone with iOS8 (sorry no iPods, iPads or android for now) and you'd like a sneak preview then head on over to this sign up page and sign up so we can send you an invite (it doesn't have to be your Mumsnet email address just one you can access).

The app is very much a beta version and everything may not work perfectly. If you find something that's broken or think there is something missing, please let us know.

Ideally we'd like you to use the app to read and post on threads and do whatever you normally do in Talk. Please note, this version of the app is LIVE and anything you post will appear on the Mumsnet site for all to see.

At the mo this is for registered mumsnetters only so if you can't see the sign up page please check you are logged in.

Ok, it appears to turn blue if you look at it and for no other reason...

Just in case you're posting with the new App, Franny - your 22.27 post is showing on the board but inside the thread the last post (also at 22.27 if I recall) is showing as MrsWembley's. (Screen shots available if needed.)

Looks like something went a bit skew-whiff? Perhaps the 2 seconds difference in posting sent the system into a spin.

PS - I have no idea why I thought there was a 2 second dfference in posting times. I seem to have got it in my head that Franny posted at 22.27.56 but I don't see how I could have thought that. Call it Mondaylunchttimeitis.

MrsWembley I've tried that search function a few times but it only searches through Topic names, Style And Beauty, Becoming a Parent etc, rather than thread titles or contents. Is that how the search function is meant to be? or is it just me?!

Also some threads open but won't display any of the content even the OP. Again, just me?!

Except it's showing dashes and things. I edited my post, deleted and retyped, is that an issue

I think that what is an issue is that your post isn't showing on the front board - in fact the last post that's showing is my own. (Except that that's timed as 13.50 and not the 13.15 which is when it was posted and which it displays inside the thread.)

There's a disjoint somewhere - probably between the use of App and the use of desktop. (I've been using the latter but I'm guessing that most rececnt posts on the threa are via App.)

Am a late tester (now have an iPhone with iOS 8 ). Current thoughts are that I miss the white background but will keep considering .

My threads I'm on is random and doesn't include any recent ones.

The threads themselves have enough white in but active is rather too colourful for my liking

I'm now having the time stamp error that many others have reported. Some threads are saying posts have been added today/yesterday that are clearly from months ago.

TIO is arse about face with oldest threads first.

Still no problem with font size on iPhone 6+

Flip feature definitely needs to be added. Not tried adding a pic yet...

It now has me posting at 19.21. There seems to be a glitch whereby there's a substitution of the last desktop poster's name for the name of the last App poster on the board summary - or something along those lines.

The bizarrely ordered TIO with no obvious way of seeing if there have been updates on threads is really irritating me now.

Durp. Have been happily pootling along using this lovely shiny new app wondering 'ooh, I wonder when MN are going to ask for my feedback' when I suddenly though 'oh! Maybe I should check the original thread for info...'

Yes yes agreeing with everyone that we need to be able to flip the thread otherwise how can you easily post one of those annoying replies that show you have RTFT?

Also missing My Topics tho it has made me scroll through the full range of topics much more and been enjoying some book chat.

Love the look, smileys, speed, ease of strike through.

Can I set it to show more than 50 active threads? Seem to be getting to the bottom quickly. But like that can then bounce back up and refresh.

In sum: I it so much more than the old app and it's better than the mobile site too. Wahey! Thanks for letting me test

cozie, I don't think you'd notice the time/poster name problem if you weren't flicking between the desktop and the app, so well done you for spotting that one!

One thing that's always bugged me about the app (well, one of many, but not one yet addressed here) is that when typing out a response, we have no way of checking the thread for anything - a poster's name or to quote them or even to just check facts! That would be nice...
