Would you like to test an early version of our Talk app?

Hello,
We've been working on a test version of a new Talk app and could do with your help putting it through it's paces.

If you have an iPhone with iOS8 (sorry no iPods, iPads or android for now) and you'd like a sneak preview then head on over to this sign up page and sign up so we can send you an invite (it doesn't have to be your Mumsnet email address just one you can access).

The app is very much a beta version and everything may not work perfectly. If you find something that's broken or think there is something missing, please let us know.

Ideally we'd like you to use the app to read and post on threads and do whatever you normally do in Talk. Please note, this version of the app is LIVE and anything you post will appear on the Mumsnet site for all to see.

At the mo this is for registered mumsnetters only so if you can't see the sign up page please check you are logged in.

I assume red dot means PMs? In which case yes to that too.

Even as it is, much nicer than the old app.

Now there is an orange did beneath the mn icon on my phone. I'm pretty sure that wasn't there before. Haven't figured out what it means yet?

Is there a way to PM a poster from the new app, does anyone know?

Definitely too much white, hardly seems worth customising the colours. It would be useful to have each post separated (by a line) and the OP's post coloured.

A bigger range of colours would be fab. I want green!

Could there be another colour symbol for the threads that you have read but now have new posts? Going back to the original colour is confusing.

To all wondering about the orange dot next to the app icon... this is because it's a test app. Well spotted though.

Ah! Thanks FrannyMumsnet that's been bugging me.

The blue colouring of the app does not stand out well against my other apps.

The bookmarking seems to be working now.

I've noticed today that there are threads from SN Chat showing up in my Active Threads - I thought they were opt in only?
I never see them on the browser version.

Very confusing re what's been added to and what's almost dead in TIO and TIW and the order makes no sense either.

As someone else mentioned, where's the PM option, or will that arrive with settings?

And when you're in the middle of a thread, it doesn't tell you where you are. I was reading something earlier and had to go back to check if I was in Chat or something more serious as the topic soon became quite heated! Not important, I know, but jus' sayin'...

Why does my old App have different active threads to this App?

It seems to have caught up now!

When the number of posts show on the left of a thread, it's white if there have been more posts and blue if all read - but could we have that so that the number shows how many posts have been added since we last read it? Does that make sense?

I'd like it if active would go on when you scroll down like with the old app. I keep going up and refreshing on this one but then end up seeing the same posts again

Is it really white for more posts and blue for none? I may be being dense or just on the far side of a wifi connection since I downloaded this app, but it seemed as if it was white for not read recently and blue for just looked at. I will happily be corrected...

Bit of a gripe about the text formatting if I write something in formatted text and then go back to edit it then the formatting breaks and you see the formatting marks.

Atalanta, I've just found search!!! If you go to Topics at the bottom, the search feature is right at the top of the page!

And Equinox, I'm keeping an eye on the blue/white thing but nothing is jumping out at me...
