Morning all,

And welcome to the new thread!
Grin

As SarahMumsnet said at the end of the last thread, we have Tech on call for fixes this weekend, and various MNHQers will be here to talk and help wherever we can.

We'll be adding to the rolling list of bugs, glitches and dislikes (see below), so please keep the feedback coming. Do remember to list which device you're using, which operating system, and which browser, so we can identify the specific issues.

Right then, who's first?

I can't click on threads to open them at all, on TIO, Active threads or anywhere else.

I have to hold down on the thread title and click "open" on my browser menu. Even this takes 5/10 attempts before it registers I'm clicking anything. Same problem with the little blue toolbar, though not quite as bad.

I'm using Samsung Galaxy s3 on Chrome.

IonaMumsnet · 23/08/2014 19:00

Evening all! I'll be here to try to answer any questions and pass any queries on this evening. Do come and say hi so I know I'm not the Only Person In The World not watching Dr Capaldi later. I've cracked out a brand new notebook for this. Come. Fill it. Bring gin. And mobile woes. We shall eventually overcome.

IonaMumsnet · 23/08/2014 19:11

Right - to the questions:
Needsasilverlining No, we promise we're not glossing over anything. We're really grateful for feedback on anything and we are listening. If you could see the mammoth notebook I have here you would laugh out loud, honestly.

It's simply a case of we have a lot to do and a lot to put right, and it just makes sense to deal with what we see as big glitches first. If there are people who can't post at all, or can't access whole sections of the site, we really have to solve those problems asap.

We're aware that some of the 'aesthetic' problems are really serious - eg flashing things, pages that are potentially migraine-inducing, and we're prioritising those, too. But something has to take a back seat, so we're afraid that's having to be some of the other aesthetic stuff - just for now.

Please don't feel that we don't care about it though, we genuinely do and we genuinely want to hear everyone's opinions on it. It's also some of the stuff that takes a bit more thought and consideration, so that's why there are no immediate fixes for that.

Apologies if we've come across as being flippant or similar. It's probably gallows humour. It's been a tough week for HQ and all Mumsnetters, we know. We're just trying to keep spirits up. Hope that explains things a bit.

Needasilverlining · 23/08/2014 19:19

It does, and thank you. And I do of course agree entirely about your priorities, they couldn't be otherwise.

I am really really curious though - and with no snark whatsoever, honest - to know HOW on earth such serious problems weren't picked up before release?

IonaMumsnet · 23/08/2014 19:19

Sunbathe we hear ya. Sorry about the headaches. We'll add your TIO issue to the TIO uber file, and log your portrait/landscape issues. Thank you.

Doubtfiredear Thanks. Lots of Samsung Galaxy users are having a variety of issues wiith functionality. We'll make sure we add these to the list.

Laddertothemoon Your first and last points are quite worrying. I've logged them now. Very annoying for you - apologies. Thanks for all the ideas on aesthetic issues. Yes, we're not able to prioritise everything, but we're keeping careful notes of all these points and it's interesting to know what people think. Thank you.

IonaMumsnet · 23/08/2014 19:21

And thanks Polter - just suddenly felt rude to leave you out! Wine

EdwiniasRevenge · 23/08/2014 19:25

Hi.

I still can't see the problems with loading random active convo threads on the list. Nor the fact that it takes forever to active convos to respond to my finger. I posted all the details above and another poster has since confirmes the same problems with the same setup.

getting really frustrated with the wrong thread loading...

IonaMumsnet · 23/08/2014 19:28

Hi again Needsasilverlining. No snark taken. I'd love to be able to comment on what went wrong, but, to be perfectly honest, I'm just here for the reports and the lolz (not so much this week!). The techier side of it is a bit beyond me, and I don't dare stop them doing All The Big Fixing right now to ask or Lord knows how long it'll take! I'm sure all will become clear as things get sorted out. Sorry not to be more informative!

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 23/08/2014 19:30

Gin Smile

Jumpy switch between portrait and landscape on iOS devices - is on our list

This is not just an iOS problem, I'm getting it too.

Lenovo yoga tablet, android 4.2.2, default android browser.

IonaMumsnet · 23/08/2014 19:32

Edwinia's revenge Think it's probably included under the umbrella of something else similar, but that's obviously not very clear to anyone reading it. But fear not - it's definitely been logged. I'll put it on the updated list on this thread later so everyone can see it's already been reported a few times and is being looked at. Thank you!

Needasilverlining · 23/08/2014 19:34

"reports and lolz". Like yer style.

IonaMumsnet · 23/08/2014 19:41

Thanks Plentyofpubegardens. We've logged that this is not just an iOS problem. Ta!

DoubtfireDear · 23/08/2014 19:43

Thanks Iona.

I can imagine this is as big a headache for you lot to try and fix as it is for us lot trying to use it.

Thanks
Solasum · 23/08/2014 19:45

Samsung Galaxy, Android, Chrome. Battery has gone from 83 to 36 in one hour of mn.

Can't click into threads via the title.

Doesn't seem to register first attempt at post so have to hit post several times.

Thank you for making it less bright!

Lezprechaun · 23/08/2014 19:50

I have to say I quite like the new site, although have missed most of the bugs and agree with the white being far too glaring.

One issue I've noticed today is if I use my phone horizontally the advert and bar at the bottom seem to get bigger and take over half the screen so can't see at all. Also when I then switch it back vertically the thread jumps and I'm not returned to the same place I was before.

I'm using an iphone 4S with the latest update.

Greenrememberedhills · 23/08/2014 19:55

Please do not end up with white text on a coloured background, though.

Some of us with common eye conditions can't read it.

PetiteRaleuse · 23/08/2014 20:05

I like the new site, now various upgrades and shite bugs are fixed. I would like to be able to change names easily again. I used this one for some parts, another for another, a different one for another etc. i could choose when I posted.

Is that function going to be back or am I missing something that is right under my nose?

LEMmingaround · 23/08/2014 20:08

I still can't open my TIAO and it is really pissing me off. Much more of this and im off

how the devil are ya

IonaMumsnet · 23/08/2014 20:12

Aw! Thanks for all the support and sympathies but mostly the gin . Had a look through the most recent posts - apologies I can't reply to everyone individually - and these are all things that are on our uber list, so will be looked at - pinkie promise. We're keeping a rolling list of the main issues here on this thread, but in all honesty, if we listed every single issue on there it would take you all night to read it. So if you don't see something on the list here please just ask, and we're not ignoring it - just trying to save you all eye strain! Thanks again.
Ooh - Greenrememberedhills - a good point and well made. Will make sure that is passed on. I personally think, regardless of eye conditions, white text on a coloured background is the devil's own work and up there with green biro, but will ensure the tech types are informed. Thanks!

IonaMumsnet · 23/08/2014 20:19

LEM! Don't go! I've just had a new gin delivery - stay for that at least. So sorry about this. What device are you using etc? May not be able to help tonight but would like to at least log people who are still having issues with TIO as it's got a lot better for some people.

IonaMumsnet · 23/08/2014 20:23

MaryZ you are so not wrong. I've just changed my will to leave my children to the care of Itsallgoingtobefine. I feel all calm and zen every time I see her post on this thread! And we know there are many others doing sterling work to help us out. Mumsnet medals all round, when this is all over and we're back home . Thanks all!
