Morning all,

And welcome to the new thread!
Grin

As SarahMumsnet said at the end of the last thread, we have Tech on call for fixes this weekend, and various MNHQers will be here to talk and help wherever we can.

We'll be adding to the rolling list of bugs, glitches and dislikes (see below), so please keep the feedback coming. Do remember to list which device you're using, which operating system, and which browser, so we can identify the specific issues.

Right then, who's first?

@Teawaster

Where is the option to see all messages on a post instead of looking at each page? Sorry of it's been covered before but I don't have time to go thru each page of previous mobile threadsSmile

Hi Teawaster

In case you haven't spotted this in the list of known glitches, here's what it says:

No 'All posts on one page' button - please keep the feedback coming, but you can do this via customise under the sub-menu. (NB you must be logged in to see the sub-menu: it's under the downward-pointing chevron under the three main icons in the top right of the page)

THREADS IM ON

You cannot click the thread titles. Only the post snippets.

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 23/08/2014 11:31

Yes, I can use portrait ... and similarly I can just check every sodding thread on my watch list to see if actually there are more than 18 replies and any of them say something more interesting than 'I agree' or 'Smile' - I'm pretty good at finding workarounds for shit software but it pisses me off that I have to when the old version worked so very well.

I have a Lenovo Yoga - it's a lovely tablet with an 8" screen and a little flip out stand for landscape which makes it very comfortable to use. I can prop it up and use more than just my thumbs to type with. The old site worked beautifully on it. The new site really just doesn't in lots of ways.

IPityThePontipines · 23/08/2014 11:33

Chrome android. It is decimating my battery.

Pages are taking ages to load and ages to scroll through.

I think this is shaping up to be a "New Coke " level of product tampering folly.

The mobile site is horrible to use and will drive people away from Mn.

insancerre · 23/08/2014 11:40

Now I can't get into any of my threads I'm on. I've tried class clicking on individual posts and that's not working. I've had to get back onto this thteadcthrpigj active conversations

Im on Galaxy S3. Android. Default browser.

Its gone downhill in the last few days for me. It was ok when it was first launched. It was functional but with a couple of thinks that were preference issues.

Now I am really struggling.
Threads I'm on when I click they take forever to load and eventually I get "page has become unresponsive" error and it doesn't complete. They are long threads and despite me having pagination and bookmarks it is trying to load the whole thread. Other threads on the board are loading with pages though so I'm confused.

Clicking links from active convos is all over the place. I click the band containing the tread title, the thread title itself and I have to press dozens of times before it will respond. Ive tried zooming in to make my finger touch more precise and it still doesn't respond. Sometimes it will subtly change the grey colour of the band to tell me I'm touching the righy place but doesn't seem to do anything about it? If I'm lucky and get a response chances are it wil randomly load either the thread above or below the one I want which is really really annoying.

Seems very slow still when using 3G on an iPhone. Everything else running fine so don't think is my phone/signal

Planetwaves · 23/08/2014 12:04

On some pages my blue bar is moving about and on others it isn't. Really v v annoying! iPhone 5 ioS 6 Safari.

Cocolepew · 23/08/2014 12:10

Galaxy Note 3
Android, Kitkat
Dolphin browser

Draining my battery really quickly.
I really would like the convo buttons back at the top of the page, I know you can hide the blue ones but thats a faff.

DawnMumsnet · 23/08/2014 12:14

@Cadsuane

i'm using my Windows 7 phone (Nokia 900) with explorer. The biggest problem is the floating blue bar that doesn't float. After I load a page it appears and is then stuck. Obviously this is blocking out what is underneath. For example when I open the Talk menu I can see Becoming a parent, then the tool bar, which skims the top of Big?slim/whatever, but Being a parent is compleatly covered and unaccessable. If I go into Customise it appears over the Save changes box. This happens on every page. Sometime I can read what's underneath before it appears but usually not.

Is anyone else still having a problem with the floating blue tool bar or is this just a Windows issue now? If so, please post all relevant details and we'll see what can be done.

To clarify: I don't want the blue car to move about! Smile

I have been trying to use the site to MN now consistently since it was changed. I get how it works, I've got used to it, but I still stand by the fact I won't grow to like it. It is a much slower, more frustrating, less comprehensive experience now. Tapping twice for functions that used to be one tap, the slower loading and page moving, more scrolling, smaller page view and bigger font, less ease of use all contribute to a less enjoyable user experience. It just isn't as comfortable to use as before and instead of scanning all my usual boards quickly and reading loads of threads, I'm looking at a few then getting tired and giving up. Using TIO and TIW is much slower than before even with the preview put back. Bookmarking is slow and cumbersome - eg. keeping remembering to tap twice go bookmark in the drop-down ellipses then tap twice again to go up to top then tap twice again to watch the thread - I can't keep it straight in my head what I've done and what I haven't. Really don't like the whooshing scroll effect when you go to top etc. either, it adds to the slower feel. Just about everything feels like you have to do more to get the same effect as before. I know you say there's another later of functionality again to be rolled out (eek), but didn't you consider that what people want from mobile browsing is a clean slick minimal fast cut-down version of the site, not one with all the bells and whistles that you'd get on a desktop site but that is cumbersome to use and eats too much battery so you'd rather not use it at all? :(

Pipbin · 23/08/2014 12:17

I'm finding it very slow now. It takes a while to type in the reply box. Also, the keyboard covers half of the circles.

Sorry:

iPhone 4s, safari, latest iOS.

Sirzy · 23/08/2014 12:22

Mine keeps "loading" like this.

chockbic · 23/08/2014 12:26

I like the click on picture feature to enlarge. When you aren't logged in.

Just thought I would mention it Cake

Although the smileys took three attempts to load Bike

LEMmingaround · 23/08/2014 12:46

I can't open threads im on. Can open active etc. Not good

nickelbabe · 23/08/2014 13:07

I noticed the thing about tio opening allmessages on one post.
I like this on the desktop site, but on the mobile site it takes too long to load.
can this be amended so that it opens the thread on the last post, but paginated to gow we have it set up?

and I definitely agree with "" being around the posts shiwing in tio. it looks bloody weird and is totally unnecessary (there are no " " on the desktop site so here?

Thanks mumsnet.

riverboat1 · 23/08/2014 14:35

Edwina, I'm on the same phone OS and browser as you and have all the sane problems. Clicking on thread titles has become ridiculously hard, either no response or wrong thread opens. SO frustrating. I have the same page becoming unresponsive problem. I agree these problems are new, it wasn't happening when this first launched.

AnnieOnAMapleLeaf · 23/08/2014 14:37

iPhone 5s
Safari

...and I can't post at all. It completely locks up my phone. I typed quite a lengthy post (my first on the new mobile site) with two issues I have noticed. I tried to post it and I got the circular loading graphic and then my screen went blue as if I had selected it all and was completely locked. I thought maybe it was just a glitch so I tried again with the same results.

I am on the PC now but am usually never on it (it is DH's baby). I need to be able to post on MN through my phone. What is going on?

AnnieOnAMapleLeaf · 23/08/2014 14:39

Oh sorry. I'm iOS 7.1.2

SoonToBeSix · 23/08/2014 15:36

Vodafone advert moves.
MNHQ please reconsider the top advert even without the moving it takes up too much screen space with the blue bar at the bottom.

SoonToBeSix · 23/08/2014 15:37

Also car phone warehouse moves, these ads are getting worse!
