Hi all,

As you know we have launched the new mobile site, we know it's a big change and we are still very keen to get it right with your help. This is very much a version that will evolve with your help as part of the testing process.

There have been a few glitches that have/are being ironed out and the HUGE thread has nearly maxed out, so we thought it best to start a shiny new one.

We know change is tricky but, as with most things MN, we are all ears and happy to look at any feedback you have on ways we can improve the new site.

Thanks all Thanks

On Samsung galaxy ace, no customise button, have to go to bottom of page to post, buttons at top don't load properly, very slow loading, it's just not usable for me.

SoonToBeSix · 21/08/2014 16:53

"New users?" Why would new users be attracted to this site is awful truly awful. Please will you answer two specific questions.
Q1)
Can you get rid of advert because it flicks and is a night mare also the blue bar you really have hardly any
screen left.

Q2) can you get rid of the white even dimmed it is really bad. ( also bad font)

Q3) can you separate posts properly.

SoonToBeSix · 21/08/2014 16:53

Sorry three questions

SoonToBeSix

We have been asking for all of that since about 9am this morning.

We have been asked to be patient.

Beeyump · 21/08/2014 16:56

Aww, FlyingGoose! I sympathise.

MardyBra · 21/08/2014 16:57

Also going back to the number of testers, the other variables are the devices used. Did you test it on a variety of tablets and mobiles?

DomesticSlobbess · 21/08/2014 16:57

I found the option to hide the annoying shortcut bar at the bottom. But those options don't seem to be anywhere else. So how do I view TIO and TIW without the bar at the bottom? Or is it all or nothing? Sad

Beeyump · 21/08/2014 16:58

It's simple really - I just won't mumsnet from my mobile now. Thanks a lot MNHQ!

Sorry, I'm like a sulky child. But it is really annoying, particularly when there was NO NEED for this.

Cherriesandapples · 21/08/2014 16:58

Hmm I flicked back phoning everything would have returned to normal. There is a Peugeot advert that keeps moving and is in the way! It is very annoying and distracting! Angry

Beeyump · 21/08/2014 17:01

Yeah. I was getting Peugeot in my face too Sad

FlyingGoose · 21/08/2014 17:01

Sorry! There was no indication it posted, it just frozen and went kind of grey.Sad

DomesticSlobbess · 21/08/2014 17:04

Hmm... despite hiding the blue shortcut bar at the bottom, it keeps flashing up for a few seconds when a new page loads up, then disappears.

RebeccaMumsnet · 21/08/2014 17:04

@Beeyump

Yeah. I was getting Peugeot in my face too Sad

Hi Bee,

Can you do a screenshot or tell us what device you are on please?

Agree on the adverts. Fine, you need that revenue, we all get that. But they really don't need to be there permanently, taking up what's already a limited screen space - that's not how it was previously, nor how it is on the desktop space. So either you're getting lots more revenue now which you therefore need to invest in lots of gin or you're getting the same as before and have just made things unnecessarily irritating.

And if we must have them permanently at the top, PLEASE can you stop them being moving ads? It's horribly distracting, almost certainly using up more battery life, and just generally pants.

MrsVamos · 21/08/2014 17:05

MNHQ : We are giving you a brilliant new site that is sooper dooper !

US : Why ?

MNHQ : Ooops, sorry it's not working properly. Hang on.

US : Why ?

MNHQ : Really, it is brilliant, just give it time, its cost us so much money but you will all love it.

US : Why ?

MNHQ : Right. We know there are some issues, tech will sort them all out asap.

US : Why ?

MNHQ : We are sorry. We know no-one asked for change but we tested on a few mates and they loved it.

US : Why ?

TECH : We are working on it. Fecking up the rest of MN but bear with.

US : Why ?

MNHQ : We tested it on a completely unsuitable demographic and forgot about people with visual and other issues but honestly, it will be fine.

US : Why ?

MNHQ :

US : WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY

SilveryMoon · 21/08/2014 17:05

Right. I was going to ask who the hell were the testers? This new version is awful but I see that it is for new users. Fuck the old ones that have been here for years, let's change everything to try to bring in new users. Well thanks a lot mn

LadyAnansi · 21/08/2014 17:06

Well I like it. Sites update their stuff all the time, and MN are clearly listening to feedback and trying to improve it.

Would it be better if they stuck with the old site, until it stopped working, was glitchy and everyone hated it? Change is inevitable.

leesmum · 21/08/2014 17:08

Blooming eck that annoying advert at the top just has to go....unless everyone at Mumsnet is driving around in a brand new Peugeot 308 Hmm

Beeyump · 21/08/2014 17:10

I was using an S3 mini, but have now switched over to the laptop and am not planning on using the mobile site again, so a screenshot may prove tricky. Sorry again for sounding like I'm having a tantrum!

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 21/08/2014 17:13

I very much doubt the majority of users have an issue with the new site - many more people will complain than not.

I still like like it, and I like that every time I login I have a new and improved tweak to see! I love the new bookmark "flag" that appears, and I love the new pop out feature for viewing images.

Good job MNHQ/ tech Gin

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 21/08/2014 17:15

I've been here for years, and I was a tester [dons helmet]

NoisyOyster · 21/08/2014 17:16

Well I'm not getting a Peugeot. Apparently mn thinks I should be booking a Norweigan river cruise?!

And my screen just froze.

And.... Back to desktop we go....

Sherborne · 21/08/2014 17:16

So.... font and background colours are the same as they were this morning, but now the font is spaced out a little more, which is helping legibility and reduce the perceived "glare".

Before and after for comparison.

(I don't get a bookmark option on my Nexus 4, though...., but then I don't get it on the desktop site either on my laptop...Confused)
