Hi all,

As you know we have launched the new mobile site, we know it's a big change and we are still very keen to get it right with your help. This is very much a version that will evolve with your help as part of the testing process.

There have been a few glitches that have/are being ironed out and the HUGE thread has nearly maxed out, so we thought it best to start a shiny new one.

We know change is tricky but, as with most things MN, we are all ears and happy to look at any feedback you have on ways we can improve the new site.

Thanks all Thanks

I used to frequent another parenting forum and they brought out a glitch filled new version. I went wandering on the tinternet and found MN.

Yes, that is how I got here too. plus, the site I was on just died as people left. It did have tickers though, so clearly not the same one (and rubbish relationship advice too, btw, I credit MN with helping me see the light).

Am on desktop (in working time Shock) just to see what is happening. I can't use the mobile site without feeling ill. It is not an accessibility issue as I am not dyslexic; it literally makes my head hurt and I feel sick within minutes of starting to read it.

DoNotLookDown · 22/08/2014 11:18

Android 2.3.6 I'm not ever so technical, but I think Google search is a browser, it just doesn't have the full Chrome capabilities.

It seems like a lot of the functions aren't supported on my device. What I assume is the Mindset logo appears as a blue square with a ? In it.

Also when I click 'post' nothing happens, so I clicked it again. It was only when I exited the site and came back I saw I'd posted! twice

SwedishEdith · 22/08/2014 11:18

Oh, and where's the option to get rid of the social media buttons (I know there isn't one so phrasing it in a deliberately provocative manner)?
I can see about 2 posts per screen. Another non-improvement

GermyJamie · 22/08/2014 11:18

Social media buttons too prominent. They could be below the posting box? Or above the top post even. The issue is that because the reading space is smaller I can't even see any of the most recent post because these get in the way.

Missing paperclip visible too and Illegible shortcut bar.

Ah those dots just above posting box are links to social media, it does work but just appears as a dot on my screen. The ellipses below each post are still not working for me. Nokia lumia 900a,windows, internet explorer.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 22/08/2014 11:19

If you don't use social media, you don't necessarily want a link to a thread you are on to be posted elsewhere.

Mm. And is pretty easy to just C&P the URL anyway...

MrsVamos · 22/08/2014 11:21

I know, ItsAll.

I just accept that if I post here its not 'mine' and what I say is in the ether forever more !

OrangeMochaFrappucino · 22/08/2014 11:22

Basically, what I'm saying is yes, I am stupid enough to hit the FB button accidentally, THEN hit 'yes' instead of 'no' in my panic and it would DEFINITELY be when I was reading a thread entitled 'I have gigantic haemorrhoids and am totally covered in scales under my clothes'.

But yeah, fix that when things are a bit less frenzied perhaps...

OK thanks. Tech are going to try to look at compatibility issues (across different devices, browers and OSs) today.

We should say though that if you're using a really old browser version, a really unusual browser, an old or unusual operating system etc, the horrible truth is that it may take us a while to sort your individual issue.

regularbutpanickingabit · 22/08/2014 11:27

Please can you look in to the repeated need to log in even when you have ticked re box that means you shouldn't have to?? Has been a problem since the mass password reset and despite posting meekly about it then (several times) and here, it just seems to be ignored.
So frustrating and it screws up everything very time

Thanks. Tech are going to look at compatibility issues today, hopefully, so I'll add this to their list!

They're also working (right now) on making Threads I'm On more functional/useful.

MrsVamos · 22/08/2014 11:30

I'm off.

Hope you all have a good day !

MsMarvel · 22/08/2014 11:31

Don't know if it's been mentioned but could you have some difference to mark the sticky threads on chat vs the actual threads?

livelablove · 22/08/2014 11:31

Thanks Rebeccamumsnet I just looked it up and my phone uses windows 7.8 (phone). As I mentioned when I try to post I get a message windows does not support this file type, but it actually posts twice.

iPhone 5c safari. iOS 7.1.2
On some threads I'm seeing apostrophes as little square boxes. On others it's fine! Odd.

mypussyiscalledCaramel · 22/08/2014 11:39

I am pleased at the moment because it all seems to be working on my favourite browser uc browser. I am glad because I detest Chrome. Now I need to see if Baidu works on my phoneSmile

RowanMumsnet · 22/08/2014 11:41

@Germgirl

Think back to yesterday afternoon when the new site launched. A lot has been fixed since then so I have every confidence that the other issues will be sorted too. Speaking Has the battery-eating been sorted? I tend to use the app when I'm not at home but if the battery is not going to be depleted in minutes when I'm out & about I'll start to use the mobile site. Speaking of issues, I'm still having trouble with pics that people have posted. If I click on them they appear in a little box of their own with the background greyed out. But they're no bigger than they were in the post. If I click on them To enlarge they nestle themselves firmly in the bottom right hand corner of the screen, still not much bigger than before. I then can't access the X to close the box because it's fallen off the edge if the screen. Is this being addressed? I'm on iPhone 5c iOS 7.1.2 Safari

Thanks.

Does this describe, roughly, the same picture issues that other posters are having?

Sticky threads have a big "M" next to them, or at least they do on the active list

SoonToBeSix · 22/08/2014 11:42

Can we please please pleas get rid of the top adverts!!! The moving Peugeot one is really really bad.

KnackeredMuchly · 22/08/2014 11:43

Oh no. I stamped my feet A LOT yesterday...

And it's better. Much better. I'm seriously impressed at the impovements and how quickly they've been done.

Bugger, now you are making me reasonable! Blush

Bravo MNHQ and Tech Support

@ScarlettDarling

Hi Rowan ... I still don't have a 'customise ' button. Or the infamous ellipsis at the bottom corner of each post. Am feeling very left out! (Samsung galaxy ace by the way!)

There does seem to be a compatibility issue with some Galaxy Aces and some Windows/Nokia combos. Will flag these to Tech.

Aw fanks. Sorry for making you all go through it in the first place!

We're testing the ads in this position for a bit, and then we will test them in a different position, and we'll try to work out what works best. There will always be ads though - there's really no way around that.
