Hi all,

As you know we have launched the new mobile site, we know it's a big change and we are still very keen to get it right with your help. This is very much a version that will evolve with your help as part of the testing process.

There have been a few glitches that have/are being ironed out and the HUGE thread has nearly maxed out, so we thought it best to start a shiny new one.

We know change is tricky but, as with most things MN, we are all ears and happy to look at any feedback you have on ways we can improve the new site.

From reading other posts you may need to opt into bookmarks on the desktop site as well as mobile site.

Hurrah - I've just found bookmark myself for desktop site on phone

I had to switch from Classic style to new but that's a small price to pay Smile

It's horrible :( I loved the mobile site, now I have gone back to the desktop version. I hate only being able to see one post at a time, I hate all the scrolling, I hate the letterbox effect from the ad at the top and the blue bar at the bottom :(

Ah - but 'bookmark' doesn't appear automatically as it used to on the old mobile site - you have to stab at the bottom RH corner of a post & then it shows up

I am ridiculously happy about this! Grin

It isn't number of pages because the Cliff Richard one has a 5 next to it now in Threads I'm On but has way more than 5 pages of posts.??? Confused by random circled numbers!!!!!!!

vfxdad doesn't matter how many years you have in design if the design looks lovely but doesn't work for those using it it is a useless waste of time and energy.

Bookmarks literally appeared on my mobile mums net yesterday, I was thrilled then this happened!!
Main complaint is that whatever I try to select to read, it takes 6 plus attempts to open the right thread
I've just been in Davinas thread 3 times and the shop advert whilst trying to open this one
If I click on a post it just decides for me what I want

I'd still quite like to know why you didn't finish it a bit more before you released it. Most sites who launch a new look manage not to actually make people ill, AFAIK (one reason not to 'trust your designers' - sorry vfxdad to disagree but they appear to know fuck all about actual accessibility if their design gives people migraines and seizures).

This is a major reputational issue and you're, frankly, haemorrhaging goodwill right left and centre.

This isn't a 'change a few colours and watch some people whinge' issue, this is more like the attempted partnership with the Daily Mail. And for some reason the strategy seems to be to say as little as possible. It is very odd.

Sherborne (I know the town well btw), to have bookmarking to need to enable it on the desktop site. To do that you need to be in New MN view, go to customise and then scroll down until you get to 'bookmark links' then chose 'yes'.

agreed.

there is a huge difference between computer generated perfection and actual human being perception.

like, dh is a postman, and they have a computer that works out all the delivery routes including how long it should take and how many houses they can do on the route., including length of driveways. what it can't work out is how much difference the weather makes, how much they'll slow down as the morning goes on, whether someone will stop them to chat, how long they have to wait at a house to hand something over, etc etc. they're things can can only be "calculated " when actual human beings do the job.

I wad doing my online shopping on the app of a large chain of blue-signed supermarkets and I saw that this new mobile site is the lovechild of that. Was someone designing this while doing their weekly shop?

Yay! Have finally managed to find the bookmark option!!! Only took me 2 days...

Now, is it possible to hide the blue bar? I just really need more screen view. Atm the constant scrolling makes me feel a bit car sick Blush

i've got a new request, please.
the old mobile site had the op at the top of each page.
i'd like that on here please.

I've just been on a thread where a poster said "you could make a chart for ds with pictures" and I thought "well, it would depend on the ds's age. let me me check the op". scrolled up to the top of the page, no op.
so now I have to go all the way back to page 1, find the op, find the page I was on....

I haven't RTFT because every time I try to use any of the buttons on the drop down menu or scroll too fast, the whole bloody thing freezes for ages. Angry

Not only that, but it freezes my whole screen so I can't even use the phone buttons to switch pages within Safari, I'm stuck with the frozen page until it decides to unfreeze itself.

I hate the advert bar at the top and the bar at the bottom, it makes the reading area too cramped and even without the freezing issues, the drop down menu to navigate is really user UNfriendly.

Please put it back to how it was, MNHQ!!

I have finally worked out screenshots, and here's what it looks like for me (HTC Desire) - I think I have bits missing? I still can't find the customise option. I think the squares at the bottom are the social media links but again with bits missing?
