Hi all,

As you know we have launched the new mobile site, we know it's a big change and we are still very keen to get it right with your help. This is very much a version that will evolve with your help as part of the testing process.

There have been a few glitches that have/are being ironed out and the HUGE thread has nearly maxed out, so we thought it best to start a shiny new one.

We know change is tricky but, as with most things MN, we are all ears and happy to look at any feedback you have on ways we can improve the new site.

Thanks all Thanks

The blue bar keeps obscuring posts.

It keeps freezing when I post.

I only MN on mobile and won't be browsing as regularly as it is too frustrating.

And now the multiple posts.....

KnackeredMuchly · 21/08/2014 20:23

The whole site still stinks.

I've tried the desktop version all day. It is almost unusable but still quicker so I gave it a chance. I've flicked back to mobile version amd encountered a problem when bookmarking.

It sort of chooses the elipses for every post after I click bookmark.

I'm attaching a pic.

Can't tell you how shit it is to use, although I really like the new look the old mobile site was so nifty

I think that may be it for the night and further fixes coming tomorrow. Sad

Sherborne · 21/08/2014 20:25

What is this bookmarking thing.... And why isn't it appearing on other people's (ie, my...) ellipses menu?

crispandfruity · 21/08/2014 20:28

vfxdad 13 years of web design and 40 years of being a professional know it all. Grin

crispandfruity · 21/08/2014 20:31

If you're using a windows phone and are having issues it might be worth upgrading to windows 8.1. Same with other devices - make sure you are using the most up to date platform. I imagine this roll out is best supported by up to date devices.

Tinkerball · 21/08/2014 20:33

Oh a new problem, bookmarking is now working but every time I do it the whole menu stays up and won't go away so it's all frozen sigh

ophiotaurus · 21/08/2014 20:34

Ok I've gone back into mobile site now the kids are ok bed. It does look much better than it did last night.

Sham

If I try and book mark a post by pressing the three dots, all the drop down menus on all other posts open.

I'm on iPhone 5s with iOS 7.1.2 on safari browser in case you need that info.

MNHQ

Could we please have the option to hide social media back in settings?

As I said. It's more useable today than yesterday.

Will keep testing.

ophiotaurus · 21/08/2014 20:34

*in bed not ok bed!

TheOneWiththeNicestSmile · 21/08/2014 20:36

Vfxdad, sorry to break it to you but being a designer doesn't mean you automatically know what users are going to want & find easy & pleasant to use (however perfect google says it is according to techie design standards) Grin

There's a very strong element of 'we know what's best for you, now do as you're told' about the professional responses to all the objections

LL0015 · 21/08/2014 20:37

It's rubbish
It freezes constantly.
The screen is now too small with all the banners.
Other websites let you close the advert, make the banner close-able or smaller

If I'm repeating others it's because the site is shite now and takes too long to navigate.

SarahMumsnet · 21/08/2014 20:37

Hey folks - with apologies - Tech have had to knock off for the night, in order to return with clear heads tomorrow. They'll be here at the crack of dawn to press on with further fixes - with accessibility issues at the top of the priority list (further apologies to all who've felt unwell; obviously that was the very last thing we intended). We really are dead serious that this isn't a finished version; we'll keep on making changes. Thanks, all of you, for your input Thanks

Sherborne · 21/08/2014 20:38

Hmm, no bookmark option on either latest opera mobile 22, or. Chrome beta 37, or. Chrome current 36.

All "the latest software".

Mobile emulation in desktop chrome for multiple devices (iPhone, Samsung etc.... ) didn't show a bookmark option either. I feel like it must be my account that had it disabled ..... Hmm

TheOneWiththeNicestSmile · 21/08/2014 20:40

Have a look on the Customise page, Sherborne

I think you have to opt in?

Suddengeekgirl · 21/08/2014 20:41

The adverts are eating the battery on my iphone! That Peugot one keeps changing every 2 seconds. I've been scrolling through this thread (only reading bits) and my battery has dropped a lot! It doesn't normally do that when I MN on the mobile site that worked

FYI MNHQ I have spent WAY less time on here than usual! Great for me and my dc. Not so great for you or your advertisers I guess. Confused

SoonToBeSix · 21/08/2014 20:42

Thanks Sarah , as long as tech no just because the dimmed white is a minor improvement it is still really awful.

SoonToBeSix · 21/08/2014 20:42

Sorry know!

ophiotaurus · 21/08/2014 20:45

I refreshed until the Peugeot ad changed to the hotel one. I find it less distracting.
