Hi all,

As you know we have launched the new mobile site, we know it's a big change and we are still very keen to get it right with your help. This is very much a version that will evolve with your help as part of the testing process.

There have been a few glitches that have/are being ironed out and the HUGE thread has nearly maxed out, so we thought it best to start a shiny new one.

We know change is tricky but, as with most things MN, we are all ears and happy to look at any feedback you have on ways we can improve the new site.

I just typed a message on my tablet and Important still waiting for it to post. What's with the flashing every time i type a letter or use the space bar.

I am currently on Samsung galaxy I900 phone using firefox because musket doesn't like Baidu and my phone doesn't like Chrome

If you had bothered to read the thread properly, I think you will see the stripes on active are for posters with visual and other issues who use mn.

Not just a "look ! stripes, ahh, pretty".

Where are all these posts of people complaining about the old site ?

And some posters do have REAL issues, and have quite rightly complained that the new site is not suitable for them to use.

I'm not having a go at you, honestly, but you seem intent on saying that 'all is good' becuase you were a tester.

Whe you were asked about a floating ad, did you not ask to see what it might look like ?

I just don't understand how testers can have tested recently and not flagged up some of the issues that Tech have spent today working madly to correct.

I have 4 different browsers. 2 on my phone and 2 on my tablet. I HAD to download Firefox on my phone because baidu browser doesn't have any symbols in the circles.

None of my browsers have the bookmark option.

The only way I can cope with the brightness and not get a headache is to wear my glasses (only 0.25, for when my eyes are tired) And I've just discovered that the middle symbol under the post box doesn't work, it brings up the clip things.

I'm using a Scroll Excell tablet currently on Chrome. I also use UC browser.

I have a Samsung Galaxy I900 ( yes its old) and was using Baidu browser and now have Firefox because Chrome isn't compatible with my phone

I don't want to faff about with bookmarks every time! I'm posting in between child wrangling and frequently dropping everything at no notice. I want to see a post, think 'that looks interesting' and go there.

I preferred the old site.

If all the problems are ironed out, and the site is useable for ALL MNetters, then I am sure we will get over it, in time.

Shouldn't have been like this though.

I would have preferred the site to be down for a day or something, so that they ensured all was good.

I'm used to it now, its alright. I prefered the colours I had for highlighting ops post before, and tiw and tio were easier to use before when you could see at a glance if anything had been posted since you last looked.

Does anyone know what the number in a circle next to the op on a thread means?

Is it the number of posts on the thread?

Hello MNHQ. I've skimmed through the thread and seen some of the screenshots and it seems that the iPhone 4 is one of the worst displays.

Now, if you were to upgrade my phone and also my compatible Bose speakers (two sets), then everything will be hunky dory and I'll stop complaining. No need to worry about the iPad, that's fairly new and it doesn't look too bad on there. I wouldn't want to be greedy or anything.

It has taken me about an hour to read this bloody thread, it is so cumbersome and I don't have the inclination to go and read and post elsewhere on the site now and tbh, I could do with posting for some support but if the website isn't uer friendly then I don't feel the site is.

I don't get the numbers, either. On Threads I'm On, there is a 2 next to the Cliff Richards thread, for example. I have checked the thread, and I have read all the posts there...there are no new posts, when I refresh the page, it still says a 2. There are 7 or 800 posts on that thread, for a start, and because I've read and caught up with all the posts, why is there still a 2?

Can anyone tell me where to find "customise" please?
I'm on a HTC Desire HD, I thought that maybe it wasn't working for me earlier as I've been in a poor signal area, but now I'm home with WIFI and I still can't find it!

I have no idea how to do a screenshot, but at the top I have an advert (it's not that big so that's OK!), then under that at the left hand side a box with a question mark in it which I'm guessing is the MN logo that isn't loading as it takes me to the homepage.
To the right of that I have 3 blank circles - the first one opens a search box, the second has "inbox, profile, account, hide shortcut buttons" and the third has a site menu.

Then I have an annoying toolbar floating around all over the place, with "active, watching, home, i'm on, and search" options.

I've looked EVERYWHERE and I can't find customise, and not sure if it's working right on my phone or not!

Im not one to complain and usually accept that change happens even if I dont particularly like it but this new mobile site is horrible.

ive been on here less than 15mins and my eyes hurt and since I mostly mn on my mobile ill have no choice but to limit my time on here.

Another example, the thread "Neighbours Kittens" has an 18 next to it in my Threads I'm On. Now the thread itself has nearly 200 posts if I recall correctly. Plus, no one has added a new post to it for a day or so, so I know I am completely caught up on the thread. (There are no 18 posts which I haven't read iyswim) So why the number 18? It's probably something really simple but I'm being thick.

I used to while away many some hours on here. Now I can barely tolerate a few minutes before I get a headache.

Some of you don't seem to understand - unless you are willing to start paying a hefty subscription Mumsnet has to have adverts. Two per page is really low compared to other sites, and the floating ad at the top is also relatively small and unobtrusive compared to other sites.

I'm not defending changes because I am a tester. I genuinely prefer the new version to the old, obviously a few tweaks needed but they are being done rapidly. I'm defending the changes because although a small number of people have genuine issues, there are a large number of people hysterical because MNHQ had the audacity to change the site without asking them personally. And there were many complaints about the old site, and requests for changes - many which have been implemented.

It is almost as if you asked for a cutted up pair, and Mumsnet, how dare they, fitted it up.

I think the tech team need some kudos for sorting out some of the issues today.

For me (windows 8 phone) the speed is fine and all that, however as I said earlier aesthetically it's not very pleasing. It's quite utilitarian and Spartan. And the floating top advert needs a total rethink.

Could the same be done for threads in all sections to make it easier to read...if thats what people would like/prefer ?

I'm going to have some food and bog off for a while. Will be back later to be a royal pita and see how its all going !

No this is a live release. Beta releases are not released to everyone, just to a few tame users. That's because betas are usually so bug infested...

The floating top advert tells me that Atlanta Hotels was their top search today. It lies, the top search on the whole internet today was 'why did MNHQ ruin the mobile site?'
