It wasn't accidental and whilst I agree that the police maybe should be involved, I'm not sure on what basis? Hard to know whether it was someone who's lurked and made notes or someone who's linked things in RL. The former I hope.

Difficult to see how fuzzy filters could prevent similar nn but still allow name changing.

Perhaps there should be a threadcount next to an op to indicate how many threads someone has started. Would have made people look twice here.

Luckily this passed me by completely but even reading about it on this thread it makes me very uncomfortable.
As a regular lurker and occasional poster i often read SPs posts and find her warm and funny and she is certainly one of the posters I'm aware of (plus the 'tudes antics often make me laugh despairingly as they're not unfamiliar to my own DSs shenanigans) that someone would do something so targeted and malicious is very disturbing.
Thank goodness for HQ taking it in hand quickly.

Perhaps that needs copying into a sticky (do we call them stickies here?) at the top of a busy forum such as Chat, so that any would-be total wankers trolls know what could be afoot for them if they are considering a repeat of something like this?

Thanks for posting that Justine - this has been really disquieting, that someone could do something like this. I suffer from anxiety and if this happened to me i think i would be really deeply affected by it.

I really hope that this poster is identifiable to MNHQ, if not them, the police - they certainly need a word in ther shell-like, at the very least, as well as some psychiatric care by the looks of things

I'm so glad that you've come on here to say all is well. So many of us were heartbroken for you.

When I saw it I knew something was wrong, but I just thought either SP had been a troll all along and had moved in for the kill, and had had me fooled for ages, OR that I was becoming too cynical and spotting monsters everywhere. It was a really fucked up thing to do. I'd like to say we should pity them, but frankly that wasn't a momentary lapse, was it. There's obviously something very wrong with the person, but they obviously are rotten to the core as well.

Corus my sincere apologies I never meant to offend with my comment. Mental illness can cover a whole host of things though and a person who would think to do such a thing cannot be considered to be mentally well. I say this from the perspective of someone who has dealth with several mental illness diagnoses in my life. Once again however I am very sorry if I have upset anyone, I honestly did not mean to, perhaps anger at the act got the better of me and I did not express myself well.

Good to hear that you are wanting to report to the police Justine. In the midst of all this it's reassuring to know that MNHQ are on the ball.
