If Fathers for Justice invade again

will they still be welcome?

I'm referring to the thread in the Feminism/Women's Rights section -

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/a1419965-Agenda-much

where Justine said:

"an invasion - ie let's go on and tell those mumsnetters why they've got it all wrong - isn't necessarily the same as trolling tbh (ie deliberately misleading/antagonising). I think we ought to be able to be robust enough to be able to debate the issue, with the caveat, of course, that if visitors turn out merely to be here to wind up or hear to spread hatred then they are not welcome"

It appears that as long as they promote their agenda in PARD then no harm done. Is that a fair assessment?

I feel for you pelboy because that is just so wrong - the whole money issue aside there should be proper redress for fathers who want to see their children having that contact repeatedly prevented by a bitter ex.

I don't agree with the tactics of F4J but I do agree that what you have just described is wrong. My Uncle experienced the same and it took until the children were adults and able to make their own arrangements for him to have the contact he had wanted all their childhood.

"the 'I have been subject to a violent husband card'"

what an utterly vile thing to say.

swallowedAfly · 18/03/2012 13:21

was it just me who raised her eyebrows at, "new wife" and "new child"?

pelboy · 18/03/2012 13:31

in reponse - during a 16 years marriage my ex-wife and I did not even have a row but when it came to court I was portraid as a violent father and husband!
In respct of the financial side yes it was important to say the facts just to put across the shere injustice of the case
In terms of access to my children I fought for 6 years to get access with no success - i got 22 seperate court orders for access - funny how if any one defies a court order in any other place than a family court they can be fined or imprisioned but it is ok or acceptable in a family court?
My Ex-wfe was so determined not to let me see my children she moved house - I had to employ a private detective to get her new address so that i could start access through the courts again

I have a question. Is this site for Parenets or mums? are only mums parents?

OptimisticPessimist · 18/03/2012 13:43

It's for anyone :) there are men who post here, there are grandparents, foster carers, childminders and nannies, those trying to conceive, those without children... the list is endless.

NormaStanleyFletcher · 18/03/2012 13:48

There are quite a few lovely men on here.

Codandchops · 18/03/2012 14:07

Loads of men here and more welcomed - it m ay be called "Mumsnet" and possibly when it first started there were more women but now it's a fairly open forum for anyone. There is a whole section called Dadsnet and also Gransnet etc....my exH has even been known to post at times.
Some of the men are very regular posters - off the top of my head niceguy, betadad for example.
Like any other forum there will be extremes of opinion but middle of the road is usual and if it gets extreme people and usually told they are OTT.

Onesunnymorningin2012 · 18/03/2012 14:09

I don't have kids and I post here and a lot of regular posters are male. All are welcome.

swallowedAfly · 18/03/2012 18:55

well, misogynists and shit stirrers are not that welcome but obviously you wouldn't be one of those.

Bossybritches22 · 18/03/2012 19:29

I find it very amusing that there is a dearth of ANY reaction at all in todays press about the 5or6 HUGE protest outside M&S yesterday.

Having spoken to several friends around the country who had gone shopping in M&S yesterday it was a question of "Who?" when the "protest" was mentioned to shop managers & staff.

As a publicity stunt it was more of a soft fart IMHO. Grin

MiseryBusiness · 19/03/2012 12:33

smthchri - Didn't you have that question answered several times in the thread you started?

notointimidation · 19/03/2012 13:46

I don't really want to start another thread about F4J so thought it might be better to post here? I have changed my name to do so because of the nature of this issue.

Are MNHQ aware of the fact that several quotes by mumsnetters and a discussion about those mumsnetters are now on one of their FB pages? I know we all have user names which should afford us some privacy, and that we are all responsible for what we write but when people like this are taking posts out of context and attempting to use those posts to prove their agenda it starts to feel a bit intimidating, particularly when they are discussing the jobs those posters do and so on.

I have reported those posts on the facebook page and would encourage everyone to do so but in the meantime, how serious is all this? Is there a serious threat of legal action against members here, or of intimidation and so on? What can we/should we do to safeguard ourselves from malicious intimidation?

Sunnywithachanceofshowers · 19/03/2012 20:24

I don't know if there is anything. I'm half thinking of leaving MN for a bit while it simmers down. However, I also realise that way the bullies win. :(

swallowedAfly · 20/03/2012 08:22

there is a thread in site stuff that covers this notonintimidation.

Bossybritches22 · 20/03/2012 09:13

Ignore ignore ignore, if no-one retaliates they will get bored & it will all fizzle out.

Stuff going on behind the scenes at MNHQ I'm sure so let's leave them to it?

IjustLOVEmen · 20/03/2012 09:17

I am ignoring today. Head and Wall springs to mind.
BUt the trolling of unrelated threads is pretty fucking tedious

JL80 · 20/03/2012 09:54

Anyone interested in the hypocrisy of F4J, have a look at this thread:

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/politics/1432472-Some-Thoughts-on-F4J

Matt O'Connor's "Icecreamist" business PR paid to place an ad on which website..? That's write, Mumsnet! You know, the one that they are now claiming are promoting gender hatred?

This is one of the many reasons that they cannot be taken seriously. They are attention seeking and publicity hungry, that's about it.
