What other forum?

Higgles
Do you really think that this is something that the press would be interested in? And does anyone think that it would show MN in a good light or make us look like a bunch of tortoise obsessed bitches?

My brother's tortoise (Amos) named after Amos Burke on an obscure TV series called Burke's Law died, but we all told him he'd escaped and had a new life in the field behind our house.
He was about 30 when he learnt the truth.
And as for Topsy (hide your eyes now), she was under a chair in the lounge,
We thought she was hibernating, until in the Spring my mum decide to hoover under there and Topsy was just an empty shell, she'd disintegrated.

It doesn't seem to be her beliefs that has been the problem though, more the way in which she has expressed them.

I'm quite concerned about the way an entire MN thread has been copied from here and posted on a totally different forum. I know people were posting things on here from DBF's Facebook page at her request, and that didn't sit right with me because of her ban, but it seems to be somehow worse that an entire thread has been lifted by DBF and taken for discussion elsewhere.

I know it's the internet, and nothing is safe, but most other forums I use have rules against taking events that happen on the forum elsewhere, especially in that way, and those rules usually include a ban if this has been done following events like this or to bully someone who has taken part in the lifted thread.

People here were upset that DBF was being discussed on this thread when she couldn't respond in person. In the same way, it's not right to lift TLES's thread and discuss it elsewhere when she cannot speak up for herself.

Saggyoldclothcatpuss · 08/11/2011 20:25

Oh FGS! Press interest?? Dear God! What will the headline be??
'aggressive poster banned from parenting website after several warnings'?? Well whoop de do!
And as for 'hectoring' DBF has done her fair share!
She stormed straight into TLE's thread on the attack! 'you were warned' or words to that effect.

'I hope DBF hasn't been banned.'

It might help to read the thread.

ok, she's been banned. i hope it's not forever, then.

it seems to be two threads, and only so many hours in the day, and all..

Thingumy · 08/11/2011 20:27

Hmmm at that link.

Saggyoldclothcatpuss · 08/11/2011 20:28

Soupdragon, oh dear! Hmm

EdlessAllenPoe · 08/11/2011 20:29

i think she said 'this is what i told you! you should have known a one bedroom gardenless flat is no place to home a dog' or words to that effect.

rather obvious piece of sense there.

OMG!

PacificDogwood · 08/11/2011 20:31

Fair 'nuff, MNHQ don't need to tell us squat, but I am dying to know-- as far as I read elsewhere DBF doesn't know either? Is that true?
Whether she would want to come back is a whole new question of course.

Press - arf.

Pan · 08/11/2011 20:32

A 'Temporary Forum'? Facebook. Crumbs. There is no end to this is there??

bibbitybobbitybloodyaxe · 08/11/2011 20:34

There is no end to her ego it seems to me.

zippadeedoodaa · 08/11/2011 20:38

WTF with the link Hmm

Saggyoldclothcatpuss · 08/11/2011 20:39

"DogsBestFriend Sun 06-Nov-11 13:00:16
Lady, I'm sorry, but you WERE warned.

I know, because I was the one who warned you.

And FFS PLEASE don't get another dog. A London flat with no garden is NO place for a dog, as well intentioned as you might be."
Yes, an obvious statement, put across with such sympathy! Hmm

I don't think HQ are going to change their mind.

They have left this threads, I think, so everyone can chat about how to make doghouse a more approachable section of MN. There have been some good ideas I think, though I have still seen someone today quibbling about whether a 'rescue' dog was really a rescue, instead of addressing the question, or explaining WHY where the dog came from is relevent to the issue. Thankfully the OP seems to be rising above that and concentrating on the very helpful advice they have been given.

bibbitybobbitybloodyaxe · 08/11/2011 20:46

Roffle. I thought I had followed these threads reasonably closely (despite dh being at home today and asking me constantly what I'm doing) but had no notion of the "other forum" until soupy's very recent link. Am actually finding this all rather entertaining (as I did with modlies) but to anyone feeling seriously hurt/upset/offended - I feel for you.

Thingumy · 08/11/2011 20:47

it's gone to the dogs Usual.
