@Asham sorry to hear that. Wishing you all the luck for Friday. Hang in there!! Wishing us all the luck for end of the week and well done again for those with offers.
@FriendlyMom thank you for your kind words xx

cerealchange · 08/02/2023 13:40

@Asham I'm so sorry to hear that being that it was your first choice. I fear that it will be a no now as well for us for the same reason.

I can believe that you are right that many may now look elsewhere as Emma Pattison was such a draw for many. She certainly was for us. However there are a great many other things we love about the school so it won't affect our decision (if we are to get a place) but I can see that it may for some. There will obviously be a period of instability now. It's just too heartbreaking to think about really.

@VickiMent congratulations. I’m still here 🤯🤯🤯 waiting away. This is painful. Trying to keep everything in perspective.

Still waiting too- going slightly bonkers!

NellyCortado · 08/02/2023 14:10

DS has an offer from Epsom - thrilled for him, but the news also feels a bit muted knowing what the school is going through and what lengths they must have gone too to deliver the results on time.
It seems that the results are coming through in no particular order, so hold tight everyone who is still waiting and very best of luck.

sugarcookie5 · 08/02/2023 14:11

Could anyone please suggest some London preps to 13 that it isn’t too late to talk to for September???

Didsomeonesay · 08/02/2023 14:11

It’s a YES for DD at Epsom. Fingers crossed for those left waiting to hear.

NellyCortado · 08/02/2023 14:14

@sugarcookie5 it is worth looking at Fulham Prep. They also have a senior school in case you wanted the option of staying on for Year 9 onwards. Good luck.

If you are SW Feltonfleet in Cobham runs a bus service from Wimbledon/Putney. It has a boarding option too. It's use to taking dc into year 7.

sugarcookie5 · 08/02/2023 14:23

Thank you I’ve emailed them. We have two offers but not the bursary amount we needed so trying to see what we can do- speaking to the schools who offered, finding preps that do bursaries and are still taking registrations and seeing what we can do. I’m going to email every prep possible any suggestions appreciated seems to be only option as many preps start the process later than senior schools

swgeek · 08/02/2023 14:28

@Asham fingers crossed, there were four in DD's prep last year who got no's from Epsom and two of those got Ibstock offers and 2 more waitlisted (and ended up being offered). They are all thriving at other schools now - St John's, Ibstock, Emanuel and the like. I guess Epsom interviews everyone, hence some disappointments today, whereas most of the Ibstock disappointment would have happened after the first round. Ibstock tend to keep a long waiting list and it does move a lot, so hopefully you have good news soon!

QuiteAJourney · 08/02/2023 14:35

Congrats on the offer! Well done to your DS.

We did not apply because of the Saturday school and the distance but, should we have done, I do think we would have been majorly influenced in our view by recent events.

Congratulations to all those offered. Thank you for all your support. It means a lot.

swgeek, that is really encouraging, thank you. I have some renewed hope after reading your message.

Pigeon25 · 08/02/2023 14:44

It’s a yes for us too, with music scholarship as well! Very happy for DD, it’s nice to have one in the bag 🤗

Definitely Fulham prep , also goes all the way
we went for assessment two weeks ago, lovely school x

sugarcookie5 · 08/02/2023 14:51

Thank you so much we heard good things but they don’t do a bursary which we’d need- sorry I wrote more in my next post-two offers from lovely schools but haven’t been able to secure enough bursary (despite us being eligible and the BAL bursary comp approving us) so need to get onto all the preps that still are registering and do B’s

swgeek · 08/02/2023 14:56

@sugarcookie5 don't you think that is risky as it will mean you will also need a bursary when you reapply at 13+ and might find yourself in the same situation?
Newton Prep goes till 13 and offer bursaries, as does Eaton House the Manor (for boys).

sugarcookie5 · 08/02/2023 15:01

Hi- we still have three schools we are waiting to hear from but contacting preps as they are still registering and seem to do the bursary process a little later just in case. And we got a bursary for his current junior school- been on a full bursary since he started so thought we’d have a good chance for him for senior. We have to try and so am getting on it! Yes we would have to do again at 13 but that gives us two years to prepare for the 13 plus and senior schools that do the bursary

swlondo · 08/02/2023 15:01

@Didsomeonesay I'm in a similar boat with my DS. Did you end up going to your WL school or did you find another school? Would love to know which school ended up going to if in SW London/Surrey thanks

Allthechocs · 08/02/2023 15:05

Hi- does anyone know if St Benedicts Ealing offer by email or is it post only?
also just seen they will have a new head starting September 2023… any thoughts on why?

swlondo · 08/02/2023 15:07

Newland House in Twickenham, if not too far out

QuiteAJourney · 08/02/2023 15:08

both

new head for me is an issue firstly cause the current one is amazing and totally turned around the school and secondly cause we all know the history so any change would worry me

Allthechocs · 08/02/2023 15:19

Thanks….the waiting is agonising! And our post is rubbish!!

totally agree- loved the old head of st benedicts… always tricky when new heads come in to figure out the direction that the school will take… the new head is coming from the oratory school near reading I believe
