How's everyone managing the evening before mega Friday?
I honestly wouldn't wish the 11+ on anyone!

Trickleg · 09/02/2023 18:27

@SWLParent i am sitting, mindlessly refreshing my email and this thread, even though I know nothing will happen until tomorrow. Even I know I am being ridiculous.

momomamiko · 09/02/2023 18:32

We have an “orientation day” tomorrow which actually is a 5.5 hr long day of exams and interview. I find it so mean that they chose this very day for it and would seriously consider not applying if I knew the date but too late now.

DC will be so distracted knowing results would be coming while he sat the papers and I will be waiting my heart out in some out of town cafe - not ideal bu cest la vie I guess!

secondaryquandries · 09/02/2023 18:32

@Trickleg 😂 I know the feeling!

KindergartenKop · 09/02/2023 18:32

@SWLParent @Trickleg the annoying thing for me is that our top 2 private options come out tomorrow but we'll take Tiffin if we get it so need to wait until 1st March for a definitive decision!

KindergartenKop · 09/02/2023 18:32

@momomamiko that sounds tough! Where?

SWLParent · 09/02/2023 18:35

@Trickleg same here! In some ways I'm so happy this will all be over and done with in the next 24 hours.

@momomamiko & @KindergartenKop best of luck for tomorrow!

I agree that extremely mean of them!
Keep us posted on progress...and good luck both for results and orientation day!

Thank you. I am sure I will be on this thread all day tomorrow 😅

Brighton 😵‍💫

secondaryquandries · 09/02/2023 18:43

@momomamiko oh no that does indeed sound very annoying!! I hope it's not too hardcore and that you manage to get some work done too.

underthesea3 · 09/02/2023 19:15

Just wanted to say a massive massive good luck to everyone tomorrow. WHAT. A. DAY. loving this thread and keeping all 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

Justlikingit · 09/02/2023 19:21

All the best for tomorrow, from a mostly, lurker! I know the feeling.

QuiteAJourney · 09/02/2023 19:23

So lovely to see all the good wishes and vibes as we look towards tomorrow.
Trying to keep things as normal as possible at home (as much as anything for DD's sake) but finding increasingly difficult to focus ... so quite a few of mindless tasks.
I have taken tomorrow as leave as I knew I would not be able to concentrate...

Good Luck for tomorrow everyone! Hope you all get some sleep!

LondonMum20222 · 09/02/2023 19:28

From a 2024 11+ mum who has been on this journey with you all from the outset (albeit a year early!) I hope you all manage to get some sleep tonight, and that your DC's do too, and that whatever tomorrow brings, remember your DCs have done SO well getting through this torturous process (as you have you!) And whether you get offers off the bat tomorrow, or from WL in the coming weeks, this time next year, all your DCs will be happily settled in school and all this will seem like a distant (probably nightmarish!) memory. Good luck!

I hardly ever drink, but I have wine.🫠

A useful reminder. I was so proud of my DS walking into a strange school to do this hard thing (multiple times). He has significant anxiety issues and it was by no means a done deal that he would manage to sit the exams. Whatever the outcome tomorrow, I already couldn’t be prouder of him.

Redapples81 · 09/02/2023 19:35

I’m definitely opening wine.

Lovely post! And it's worth reminding all the DCs of that before they head off to school tomorrow. Just to commit to this process and get through it is such a huge achievement in itself. They should all be incredibly proud of themselves (and the results - at this stage, with so many clever DCs in the running - are somewhat down to luck. It's not a rejection if you've got to the final stage. It's simply a numbers game).

VickiMent · 09/02/2023 19:42

A lot of wine for me this week! It was much needed! Very proud of all the DC for everything they have been through. I love living in south west London but the school entry process has been trying.

Good luck to all for tomorrow and Saturday.

I so agree. This is tough process to go through and I have said to my DD on several occasions that I would not have been able to cope with it like she has done - conquering her fears and anxieties and coming out with a smile (or not) but readying herself for the next one!
Independently of the results, there is a massive achievement in how DC have gone about it and we should not stop reminding ourselves and them of that.

@Lolakath19 ❤️❤️

Such a long day today. Hoping for an early night and fingers crossed! The end is near!!! It's been an amazing (albeit stressful) experience. Not wishing it on anyone!
Good luck tomorrow everyone!

Dallasdays · 09/02/2023 20:05

Tomorrow is going to be so surreal! I have tried to clear my work so that I have as little as possible to do, as whatever happens, it's sure to be an emotionally charged day. Thanks to everyone for sharing the journey and sending best of luck to all DCs and stressed out mums for tomorrow!
